What weight do YOU lose first?
So, I'm just starting my weight loss journey and I got my first compliment the other day! A coworker asked if I lost weight and told me that my face looked leaner. So I guess I'm losing a bit of my double chin, which is great! I've also noticed that I'm losing some in my chest, which sucks because I was small to begin with.
Where are YOU losing? |
It was everywhere.
But the face really changed below 200. The belly is the last to go for me. Sex hormones really play a role. Where the sexes carry their weight is the toughest to lose imo, at least at the end-game. For guys we carry most of our weight around our gut. So my arms, arse and thighs are tight as a button. But that belly still is there! For ladies, I would expect to reverse that equation. |
First, congratulations on your weight loss. Aren't those compliments nice and isn't nice to have folks notice?!! Keep it up!
I'm in the process of re-losing weight so my experience is from 3 years ago when I was at my fittest and lowest weight. I agree with Ian, about the face. My face thinned out dramatically almost from week to week. I have an apple shape body so I carry my weight in my belly. My loss was very similar to Ian's. I was running 3-4 times a week, lifting and taking TurboKick classes. My butt, thighs, calves all looked great...for me. Remember, all things being relative ;) While my waist trimmed down considerably it never looked as good as other body parts mentioned. I still had fat and despite a really clean eating and exercise routine, my belly looked like a deflated balloon. And while my arms had some really nice definition my already well established bat wings looked more pronounced with the weight loss. And don't even get me started on my breasts :o Everyone is different because every body is different. Genetics plays a role as well. The body is going to do what it wants to do so I focused on things that really mattered to my longevity--lower blood pressure, better overall health numbers, renewed energy/stamina. Continued good luck with your efforts  |
I lose my double chin last, sigh. Even when I was down at 185 I still had a double chin! It was the worst!
I tend to lose my boobs, which I'm annoyed about because they're not huge to begin with and it puts me at a weird half size. I'm used to being a C, but again when I was down to 185 I was like a B and a half? Hmmm... The two things I want to lose the most (my face/chin and arms) I think I'll lose last! |
Thighs seem to be the hardest area for me to lose from. I basically lost all over pretty evenly starting out, then kept losing from my bust/rib cage and stopped losing anywhere else for a long time.
I lost in my legs first... I find my hips and stomach are the hardest thing for me to lose :(
When I first started losing weight, everyone kept telling me I would lose weight in my boobs first, but it's complete and utter rubbish. You can't tell someone what they will and will not find hard to lose. As 'curvynotlumpy' said, everyone's different. |
Yep, I lost weight all over, but the "hardest to lose" thing is a fool's errand for some of us. I remember freshman year of college, I had a BMI of 20, and I still had a gut. I'll bet I would die of malnutrition before that gut went away.
I loose in the rib cage area first, and put weight on there last. In many ways its a blessing because it makes me look smaller than I am, but then the weight creeps on easier without you noticing. Plus. People freak out when you lose weight cause they're like "but you're already so tiny!" And you roll your eyes because at almost 200 pounds at just over five feet tall, no, no you're not tiny, you just can't see it when I elastic myself at my ribcage and let material flow from there to hide everything.
Overall, I lost what little weight I had on my ribcage, around my face some what and the back rolls first. Its slowly leaving the arms and belly, and even slower on the butt and thighs. My boobs have lost a little but not as much as my band size so its a constant struggle for bras. |
I'm sorta an all over-er. I swear I lost half my butt in the last two weeks. :/. Thighs are probably hardest, I have a lot of muscle on them. Bu I know there's fat hiding there. I'll just keep luring it out with vegetables!!
Face and stomach first - stomach is always dramatic. My arms are last. I just carry a lot of weight there, so still feel self-conscious about wearing short sleeves.
Back flab was first to go. You know, back by the bra line. My inner thighs always take forever to go away.
I lose my butt, and anything in between my knees and my butt.
The rest comes off, here and there, except for the boobage. I really hoped to go from a 42 DD to a 38 D. Nope, Still a 38 DD. Deep sigh. |
Boobs & legs. I went from a 46DD to a current 42D. Belly is slow to go, which is annoying, but it will eventually happen :)
With 62 pounds gone in 5 months it's been rather interesting. I've lost everywhere but IK lost mostly in my hips and belly. 37.25 inches have gone from everywhere but 12 inches just from my hips and belly. of course my face has changed but my rear has gone from a flat thing to shapely and round which was pretty surprised. I started out at 355 pounds so I have got a long way to go so we will see what happens as I go long :) My belly has kinda slowed down losing and the fat is starting to come off my thighs and rear more than anything else so who knows.
It comes off my belly first as well as legs. It comes off my arms the slowest.
My family noticed my face and arms first, then my butt and my boobs. I personally think it's been about the same all over.
I lose in my face and belly first. Most recently, I lost off of my breasts. My thighs have been the hardest place to lose, it's super frustrating!
It comes off my tummy and face first.
My arms are last to see a change. |
I lose my boobs. I've gone from 34B to 36D and will probably end up at 34B again. I'll be sad to see them go :(
Pretty much like SenseAndSensibility explains, I too lose first from my ribcage area. That's why I was so freaked when I one day realized that I actually had quite a bit of fat on my ribs that has never been there. Didn't feel like my body anymore.
The last place to stay fat for me is definitely my thigs. I remember being borderline underweight after an illness and my stomach was perfectly flat, but my thigs were still pretty heavy. Not that I complain, I'm ok with being pear shaped. I guess I should have been born in the regency era - those dresses would suit my body type perfectly. :P |
Mine usually goes: 1) back 2) butt and torso 3) limbs (arms and legs) 4) face/neck and boobs
I left out lower stomach because I don't think it will ever go away. Even when I was a lean 125 in early high school, I had a belly there. |
I lose in my face, my back, and my butt/thighs first. Belly is always last, if it goes at all.
I think I lost my face weight and chest first (fiance noticed the chest loss), then odd places like my ribs, back, forearms and fingers.
I would like to lose more on my butt, stomach, calves and upper arms. I am settled that I will always genetically be pear. The finger weight was odd (I started at a 4.25 size)....I had to get a temporary ring sizer to keep it on my hand. |
My face and waist are what I and coworkers noticed thinning first. My butt and thighs are last. Kinda annoying lol used to be the breasts that went first but not a problem now that they've been augmented (yay) :)
I usually feel it from my waist and back first. Then I see it coming off my face arms and shoulders. Tummy, hips and thighs always the last to go......

When I lost weight year back my boobs went fast. This time... they SO FAR 95+pounds down, they have not gone to far... keep faith :) lol I think I am losing it equally throughout my body... as of late I am starting to see the stomach and back come in... I have waited a long time for this to really start showing and I am glad but it seems to be THE hardest part of the journey at this point lol of course the part I want gone the most will be the hardest I will have to work to get lol that's how the story always goes hey!?:dizzy: |
My back. I don't know how or why. If I had to choose an order it would have been: Face, neck, boobs, arms, belly, thighs, back.
My belly first, always. My legs are probably the last to go :( If I had to pick, it would be arms first - they're my biggest insecurity.
My weight loss seems to be different each time. Though I notice in my face and hands first, then my sides (my upper stomach). Today I've noticed my calves look a little slenderer.
I know I've lost weight around my middle because I've added almost a foots worth of new notches to my belt and my shirts are significantly looser. But in the mirror, my stomach still looks the same. |
Dat first hint of a collarbone! Mmm-mm!
I lose my legs first
The first place I notice is in my belly. I am starting to be able to zip my pants again. Then it will be pretty consistent all over. Once my belly gets to a certain spot, it won't get any smaller, and I will lose in my arms, chest, theighs, face, etc. My face noticibly changes when I lose ten pounds. I am looking forward to a single chin and having cheekbones.
This time around - back fat/bulges are diminishing and the sides of my belly area. Usually in the past it was in dumb places like my fingers and feet. I always find it interesting where weight comes off. Lets hope it continues to do so for everyone here. :broc:
I tend to lose weight in my belly first, followed by weight loss in my thighs.
I think the face is noticed first because there's less fat there to begin with, and that is where most people look at you first. They say that upper body fat goes first, and lower body fat is the hardest to lose. I have never had much lower body fat. I carry all my weight in my chest, back, arms and midriff, with these 2 little sticks holding it all up. That is the unhealthy fat, pressing on your vital organs. Lower body fat may bother those who have it, but in the long run you are healthier if that's where you carry your weight.
I seem to lose fat first from my neck - sounds strange, but neck first then face and then my back.
I think I lose weight in my thighs/legs first.
Interesting question & answers. As for me, people have been saying they can tell by my face & boobs :D
While I have lost 12 inches around my waist, I got measured at Victoria's Secret yesterday and am the exact same size as I was 44 pounds ago!
I lose in my face and boobs first. My legs are my real problem area..
Keep up the good work everyone!! |
