which facial?

  • I plan to reward myself with a spa facial which I have never done. Looking at different options offered by spas are really overwhelming. Does anyone have advise for picking one? I am in my 40's if that makes a difference.
  • I want a facial! I've always wanted to go to a spa and be pampered. But alas, I just scrub my face with noxema every night and then slather myself in cocoa butter (which is awesome for a chick trying to lose weight right? "Hey Self! Slap something that smells like chocolate on you before bed! Yay! Chocolate! We're so smart, self!")

I'm interested in this! I'd like to do that as a reward for a mini goal met
  • I LOVE facials...!!! And that's a great reward to give yourself... Just be careful.. They can become ADDICTIVE

I always try to get recommendations on spas and the various treatments that they offer from friends and people who I trust... That way I can find out what people loved and what they thought wasn't really worth it at a particular place...

Personally I usually stick with the more basic options on the facial menus at spas... and then if I really love it, I'll go back and try something a bit more exotic with maybe some add on treatments... I have done facials with chemical fruit peels and some laser facials as well, but they were pretty intense and although I got great results... they definitely weren't relaxing... So I wouldn't recommend anything like that at first...

Do you have any particular facials in mind? If you could let us know some of the facials that you're considering maybe some people here would have some personal experience they could share to help you out...
  • When you make your appointment, tell the receptionist that you'd like your esthetician to do a consultation first and recommend a facial based on your skin type. The esthetician should ask about your lifestyle and if you have any issues with your skin, and hopefully customize a facial for you. Like Tripswitch said, some facials can be very intense, so if you want something relaxing, make sure you let the esthetician know.
