Default i can never find a good top

not with today's trends. why is everything i pick up wide & cropped? who wears these things? you need to be about 95 lbs wet to make this stuff look good.

examples:

how are you supposed to wear this stuff and make it work? or should i suck it up and get out of the "younger" stores (h&m,forever 21,etc) im 28 :\

who sells normal..form fitting..flattering tops?

Same problem here - I have a small upper body and very wide hips and thighs, so these kind of tops make me look like a dumpling I look much better in formfitting tops, but they are so hard to find...

Cool

I am having the same problem. I can't find any modern Retro type blouses that are not baggy looking and make me look frumpy . The things that look nice on me are not my style.( think 30's mom on the go typical stuff, just not for my ideal style ). I need more structure I guess. Mod Cloth and Eshakti have some trending items that work, but the prices are high. I found a few things at Kohl's that I like from the Lauren Conrad brand not structured enough.

i actually own the endless nights shirt lol..

regardless- some styles fit certain people, and other styles fit other people.

we all have different body types, so shop for what you know looks good on you. there are always options.

the irony is, with fall/winter looming i have good insight to say that chunky knits/ oversized tops are very in. so...hold onto what you've got and invest in fitted long sleeve under layers lol

Sheer, oversized shirts seem to be 'all the rage' for fall, but I prefer longer tops too! I find a good one every once in a while at F21 and H&M.. just have to have the patience to search and try on!

I love clothes from Express, especially button down shirts and work pants. I have luck at Kohls and even Target too.

I'm top heavy, so I am self conscious about tops fitting too fight, so it's hard for me to find a good top as well.

I also hate those - the first top is OK but looks bad from the side in photos. The second is to make underweight folks look less underweight, I'm almost sure of it.

The young'in stores are good for lots of things; I'm still in them too partially because a lot of "adult" stores don't carry stuff in my size.

Thrift stores and cardigans and dresses and short skirts and moto leather jackets for life.

I get tired of this too! Whatever happened to a simple, fitted graphic t? I shop in the younger stores, too, and on top of everything being wide, sheer, and cropped, they also like to throw rips in there too! I just want a freakin' cute tshirt!

I like Onestopplus.com (they carry misses sizes, men's sizes, shoes, jewelry, lingery and hosiery, and home goods too, not just plus size clothes) The site is actually a one-stop for many of the Redcat company-owned stores (including Roamans, Woman Within, Avenue, Jessica Londan, Brylane....)

They carry a HUGE range of sizes and silhouettes. I love that their tees come in many different lengths and fits. I prefer the tunic length (30 inches or longer), but I don't mind 28". I love that they list the length, because I know that anything shorter than 28" is going to end at my waist or worse, the widest part of my abdomen (making me look like an egg, even though I'm not really egg shaped, I do have a waist, but when a tee ends at the widest part of my hips and tummy you'd never know it).

I love their clearance too, and I've even learned to "translate" some sizes (I'll buy a looser fit tee in a smaller size to get the fit I want. Normally I just buy the tee I know will fit the way I want, but when the clearance price is $3.99, I'm willing to gamble a little, and the gamble has paid off, because now I know that I can buy a 3X in a standard fit, or a 2X in a looser fit (reading the reviews also helps a lot, because the reviews always seem to include length and true-to-size info).

Last night I bought five tops for $30.01 including shipping (because I found a 99 cent shipping coupon). The highest priced top was $5.88 on clearance.

I just needed them for the gym and jammie tops, so they didn't have to be anything special, but I still got them in cute colors and in the length and fit I wanted (well I'll be only be sure of the fit once I get them).
