If you google a blog called The bearded Iris, and then click on the pic of Oprah with the caption DIY Feminine hygiene tips, you will find a product called Magic Cream...along with the hilarious topic of keeping it clean down there.I haven't tried it,but this woman swears by the product.
I suggest having it waxed once (by a professional) and then compare the results ..shaving' seems more convenient but you risk ingrown hairs, itching, possible infection..waxing the first time is a bit of an ouch but the results are significantly more appealing cosmetically..
I find it uncomfortable when I let my hair do it's own thing. Same with underarms and legs. I have to keep up..... the sensation of clothes touching my body hair is enough to drive me insane. I dunno what it is about clothing rubbing on my body hair that drives me freaking bananas but it really does.
I think that if you're nervous, you should leave it to the professionals. I think waxing hurts a lot but it comes out better than shaving...for me at least (although I've had mine removed with a laser by a professional...which is even more painful, but that's another story! )
While I was pregnant, and even now, I use a mirror that is on a moveable stand. I either sit on a towel or do it standing up with a little trimming tool. It is a little irritating at first but this has always worked for me. Ever since baby its been hard to reach!

I go by feel. I also use those crazy X5 (x10? x3? lol) guys razors. Also I enjoy using a product called shaving oil. I find I don't get razor burn with that stuff.
Also I have heard of a product for African-American men, they use this cream (like Nair) for the face, since they can get ingrown hair easily. I dunno what it's called but it's in a teal bottle? If it's gentle enough for the face, I wonder if it's ok down there? Anyone else hear of this?
The very best thing for this, if you want to go completely bare is Majic cream. Its a product designed for African American mens beards. Its a powder that you mix with water. Its AMAZING..doesnt miss any hair, no redness and no ingrown hairs and it grows back so soft. Doesnt smell the greatest but it leaves you so smooth.
i have been shaving for a long time, but i don't ever shave everything off. if you just want to clean it up, you should be okay standing and going by feel. if you want to get specific, definitely use a mirror and maybe even sit/squat.
i don't use a fancy razor but i don't use a cheap disposable either. i use sensitive skin shaving cream/gel. go with the grain i guess, but i most often go sideways, moving from the outside in. i wouldn't suggest going against the grain, it will probably *really* irritate the skin.
if it is your first time you WILL itch like crazy. consider buying a bikini zone product to soothe the area. and when it starts to grow back in, it WILL feel really uncomfortable but usually just for a day or two.
I find this thread enlightening and humorous. I have been shaving by feel since '04. Until then I had just did a nice trim. However, I am going for my first waxing on Thursday mostly because I am just curious.
Could one of yall post or email me a link to this cream, I google it and I've gotten a lot of stuff come up. Can someone link me and tell me where to get it from?
I am in favor of at least shaving the zone where it may get dirty while we are too far from any "washing area" like home. In the same way armpit hair absorbs the smell of sweat and makes us smell more strongly when we exercise, ... (fill in the blank!)
