Does anyone reward themselves based off or something other than the weight going down? For example, today I did my nails because I was so proud of the amount of exercise I did this week. I was just wondering what some people reward themselves for and how because I'm sort of new to the concept of rewards for progress not products in terms of weight loss.
I don't do any time or weight related rewards. Gives it too much merit. What I do though, even though these are inbetween sizes, I get well fitting, flattering clothes. When I feel I look as nice as I can (within reason), I feel more attractive, thinner and that motivates me to go for more.
Funny how that doesn't apply to me doing my makeup and hair as I go natural and with a pony tail a lot!
I 'used" to do weight related goals, but they were fitness related. Like, "when I lose 50 pounds I'll get myself a heart rate monitor". This time I got it after a month of exercising. No denying myself when it is just helping me with this journey!
I do a lot of these actually. I get myself an underwear and bra set in the smaller size and hang out on my closet door. After every ten pounds lose I buy myself a new pair of heels. I usually refrain from buying clothing because I am not going to be a certain size for very long and I figure my shoe size isn't going to change drastically. For the big one, I said when I reach my goal I am going to buy some Louboutins (which I am saving for in the mean time).
I didn't give myself rewards based on pounds lost but I did start building my wardrobe with clothes that I always dreamed of wearing but never could. Now I am enjoying wearing them and I feel so proud of my accomplishments.
Other things I did to treat myself for staying on plan were pedicures, facials and buying make up. I feel great, I want my outside to reflect that.
es, I did reward myself. I bought a new charm for my pandora bracelet for every 5 lb I took off. Someone asked me what I did if I gained it back. Well, I didn't get another charm untill I lost another 5 lb. from the weight I was before I gained any back, so it worked. I've lost the weight and I have a nice bracelet to wear. Do what ever motivates you. Maybe put 10 dollars for every 5 lb. into a fund to buy new clothes when you reach your goal. I also think you should reward yourself for things like exercising the amount of days you have set for yourself. Maybe a nice manicure or pedicure. Or a book! I'm a book lover too. Bribe yourself if it works!
These are good. I need to work on my flattering clothes. A lot of the time I'm still wearing clothes from before the weight loss because I am having attachment issues.
I have a pandora bead for part of the weight loss. It was for the half way mark. I had forgotten all about it.
Louboutins?!!!! That's awesome!
My biggest goal is to have a new prom for celebrating my health when I reach my goal. (My first prom was a disaster in my opinion so I wanted to create a new one).

I don't do it on weight loss really. I do non-food awards for things such as exercise or doing really good on something at school. Anything that I worked for and achieved I'll do something simple to make myself happy. Like get a new art pencil, a new book, hang out with friends, or attempt to paint my nails. :3 It helps me stay focused on my goals and realizing that through setting and achieving things I can make myself a happier and better person.
I love rewarding myself for things that I can control (like staying on plan) over things that I cannot (stupid, uncooperative scale)
In college, we took one of those "intro to life" type classes that really focused on setting and achieving goals. They said you need to make action based goals, rather than result based goals. So instead of setting a goal of losing 100 pounds, you should set a goal of walking three days a week, and another goal of eating a certain diet each day, etc. That way, you would have true and measurable goals that you can hold yourself accountable to and reward yourself for. Plus, you can control your action based goals, but not the results of them, so aiming for a result over an action may just be depressing in the long run.
I find myself focusing on the result a lot, probably too much, but I am trying to focus on action based, smaller goals, than can lead to the result I want.
I had planned on giving myself weight-based goals, but those sort of fell through. Recently I changed my mind and decided to do time based ones instead, although not on a weekly basis but after completing big goals.
For example, after I finish the 30 Day Shred, I'm going to buy myself a new pair of tennis shoes (which I really need anyway, because when I went to buy them at the beginning the guy convinced me to buy 8.5s. For the record, I wear a 6, and I've tried wearing them so they are unreturnable ). After that I am either going to repeat the 30 Day Shred with heavier weights or move to a different program. I haven't decided on what that reward will be, but I am excited to!
I haven't done rewards before, and I'm hesitant to do them for weight goals because even though I'm very happy with the rate I'm losing at right now, I know I don't have total control over that.
I am thinking of doing a time based reward though - I made a commitment to stay on plan for 10 weeks and I'm almost at 7 weeks, still completely on plan. That is a really big deal to me so I think I will want to do something to celebrate it when I finish the 10 weeks, and get started on my next 10 week commitment.
Not sure what yet - maybe going white water rafting, as I am already planning on going again this summer (went once already).
