I am wearing Hanes size 6 right now myself. Bikini style! I can tell you my hips are 35 inches, so I'm smaller than the recommended size and I think they fit perfectly. I don't like them too big because then I start getting wedgies. I can also tell you no two pair fit quite the same. I have found that in a pack with different colors, the same colored pair will fit the same, but different colors fit differently. For instance, all the purple fit big, all the white fit small and all the flowered ones are perfect. So I don't think they're real consistent.

I was wondering about the size thing too because there's only one size smaller at the store I visited. What will I do after that? It seems strange when I know there are women out there smaller than me.

And I hear you on the muscle thing. I weigh heavy too.

Default Funny Undie story

I don't really have an undie opinion, but a cute true story.
A old friend of mine loves to buy gifts for his wife.At Christmas time several years ago he decided to buy her some new undies along with lots of other things. He had never attempted this before and didn't think it would be too difficult. He went to the intimates dept of a major store and a sales clerk offered to help. In his logical mind he reasoned with himself that if he wore size 34 pants, and wore 34-36 undies himself, then since his wife wore a size 12 pants, then she should need a size 12 in undies. He bought several pair, all the while thinking to himself they did seem rather large for her. The next day he told me about his purchase and the size he bought. I just about fell off my chair laughing so hard! I tried to convince him to exchange them, but he is pretty ornery and wanted to see the expression on her face Christmas eve. From what I hear it was priceless, and she got a good chuckle out of it along with everyone else in the room.
We still laugh about it, and every year since then he buys her new undies(in the correct size) and shares this story with the sales clerk. Happy undie shopping to all!

Hmmmm...

I am currently about a size 12/14 in jeans, and 167 pounds. My waist is 30" and my hips are 42"...and I wear about a size 7/large in undies.

Since we are both around a size 12, I am wondering how a 7 fits me perfectly and a 6 is getting too big on you...since we are going by hip measurement, and not weight.

A size 6 in undies is a size medium, which would be for an 8-10 in pants. A size 5 or small would coordinate with a 4-6 pants, and a 4/XS would be for sizes 0-2 pants.

Unless you start wearing a 00 in jeans...you really shouldn't ever have to buy undies in the girls section. I am puzzled as to why your undies are fitting so much looser than what your jeans size and measurements would have you be.

This is going to sound silly...but I have done sewing and measuring and costume making for eons...have you ever thought about hanging your undies to dry? I wear Olga and Vanity Fair most of the time, and I never, ever dry my bras or undies in the dryer. I always hang them. The heat from the dryer destroys the elasticity. It will make a bra band and straps lose elasticity and wear out and start riding up the back quicker than I'll get out...mine fit and last forever because I take care of the fabric.

You crack me up. I wear a 6 0r 7 in underwear, depending on the brand...and I weighed 156 this morning. There is no way they would have went on at 233.9 pounds...I think then I wore a 9 in undies, or the Lane Bryant size 18/20 ones.

Wink

I wear a size 7 in underwear and I'm in a size 12 pant though I'm quickly shrinking into a 10 again (woohooo!). OP, I would look for underwear in "petite" sizes -- I think that at least wacoal makes some. I don't know if the "packaged" underwear comes in petites, but you definitely have more options rather than wearing the day of the week girl's sized underwear. If you want to splurge on a pair of the awesomest panties ever, I recommend Hanky Panky. They are expensive, but sometimes you can catch them on sale. Best. Underwear. Ever.

I know no one is going to believe me... and since the OP has something against VS this may not be the best option for her...

but I've never had more comfortable underwear than what I've gotten from Frederick's. I think their sizing is spot on, and they never wedge on me - not even the thongs.
