Default What shape is my face?????

Help! I need a new hair style in the worst way but I can't decide what shape my face is. I've always called it round but according to the descriptions on the page I've added that may not be accurate.

I would like my hair to be short, I don't have a lot of time and I'm not good at doing these kind of things. I don't have the desire to do much with it, I like wash and go but I don't think that will ever happen. My hair is also very fine and thin with natural curl. I've flirted with the idea of a pixie cut but I don't think I'm slim enough to pull it off.

I've always hated my hair

I think its an oval or a rectangle based on your picture. I'm 65lbs heavier than you and I have a pixie, so I don't feel you have to be slim! Check my profile picture.

I used to spend time fluffing up the top of my thin, fine hair like in my picture, but lately I've gotten more compliments when I haven't 'fixed' my hair so I've been wearing it flatter. Go figure.

Ask around, find a good stylist if you don't have one already, get a consultation appointment, and see what the stylist thinks. Its their job to make you look good!

I'd say oval as well, it's the easiest face shape to 'decorate' I think a pixie cut would be great on you, like Penquin said, have a look around and ask for a consultation.

I'd say you have an oval face as well. Which is great because you can have any hairstyle you choose!!!

Your face does look oval to me.

Sometimes a great haircut makes all the difference!

Let us know what you decide and post an updated pic.

I've been much happier with my naturally curly hair since I started going to a curly hair specialist. You can find salons with curly hair specialists at naturallycurly.com.

Oh, and I've also been happier with the fine texture of my hair since I got it cut short -- my fine hair looks fuller when it's short than when it's long.

I think you should get a bob with side swept bangs. BUT that would require you to blow dry the curls out.

I found this cool site that lets you upload your picture for free and try on different hairstyles. I've been playing with it for the past couple of hours!!
www.taaz.com

Here is the original link I posted by mistake - not a lot of free styles to try on but it will help you determine your face shape.

Thanks for the site, I'll have my husband take some pictures tonight and try it out.

I read once that getting your hair cut short is a big no-no for heavy women, since it makes your head look out of proportion (small) to your body (large). Has anyone else read this or noticed it?

My biggest problem with cutting it short is that I really can't afford to keep it trimmed at the salon I like. I've been going to the same stylist for years (when I can afford to out of work hubby), she also has very curly hair.

I don't consider you heavy! To me shorter hair on heavy women makes the head look larger and more in proportion. I had long hair {past my butt} for years, and now that its shorter I can fluff it up or not do anything to it and apparently it still looks good. However when it was long it I mostly wore it in a French braid to keep it out of everything and when I look back at pictures, having it all scraped back was not a good look for me.

Mine's a pixie right now. If it grows out a bit, I just scrunch it wavier and it seems shorter. Did that make sense? I can go 9 weeks between cuts.

Jenteal - Did you change the link??? It goes to a totally different site today then it did before.

I really think I might... the face shape thing on the original linked site said I was a square (I'm just not hip ). Which I can see... I don't think it's quite narrow enough to be an oval, everything about me is broad (shoulders, hips, face........)

Unfortunately it only gives you 9 hair styles to try on for free and the process to create the 3d model is quite labor intensive. I wish I could afford to pay for even just 1 month but I can't. It does give me a better idea of what I may look like though. I think I need to go back to having bangs... I hate my forehead.

I did because I have several links bookmarked and I posted the wrong one. The TAAZ website is the one I was referring to and they have hundreds of free hairstyles you can "try on". And the setup of this one only takes a couple of minutes as opposed to the other one.

You're quick! I thought only a few minutes had passed from the time I posted the wrong link until I caught it and corrected it!

See if you can negotiate with the stylist. I have a friend who has a hairstyle that needs trimmed once a month, and she has a deal with her stylist...she schedules three appointments and pays for them up front, and the stylist only charges her $8 for each trim instead of the usual $22. I don't know if this is common practice or not, but I think it's worth asking about! HTH.
