It depends on your shape. I did those when I was a young teen and built more "straight up and down", but now that I'm older with actual hips and curves I feel boot cut is more flattering to my adult shape.

I'm looking forward to wearing them when I'm a bit smaller. I haven't got a defined waist but I have got fairly small hips and prefer pants that are snug in the hips and legs. So once I get small enough to not have too much muffin top, I know there is a pair of skinny jeans out there with my name on them!

It's not my favorite look, but I'd be content if just the *boys* would stop wearing them.

My view? They are hard to pull off for most women. But, at your size, I think you can do it. Boots to give you height are a great idea! And, if you don't mind a little more advice.... A jacket or top with a bit of volume (or even some embellishment like the new ruffle tops we are seeing) will help you balance the outfit since you are a size smaller on top.
Post some pictures and have fun with your skinny jeans! |
Eh, I love the crap out of skinny jeans. I'm curvy as all get out and a size 20.
And I think I manage as I've never had anyone tell me otherwise (seriously, my friends just told me that my hair was ridiculous and I need a recut pronto). So, I say rock what makes you happy. |
I agree that if you like them, that's what matters most. Personally, I'm trying to learn to like skinny jeans, as my boot cut jeans that I haven't been able to fit into for a year now appear to be skinny jeans. I don't know how that happened, but they're the only pants I have that fit, so I wear them (don't worry, I don't wear pants very often- I'm a skirts kind of gal).

I think other people can look good in them but I don't like them on myself--or if I do wear them I like them with long, belted sweaters--somewhat form fitting and then, tucked into boots.
I see some young girls wearing the ballet flats and skinny jeans and yes, they do look so cute. I had two babies in two years and am approaching middle age--that look doesnt work on me! |

I believe there is no age limit to skinny jeans. If there was, I at 47, should be arrested! I love my skinny jeans with boots, my little sketchers or flats. They remind me of the jeans we wore in the early 80s. I too, am a size 8. But I have a pretty flat butt and thinner thighs. Here's my answer to the ice cream cone conundrum--stand with your legs apart!

Wanna, you are sweet! When I look at my avatar I see all the lines in my face lol. Most people agree that IRL I look like I'm in my 30s--which is good.

I think skinny jeans are wonderful, and a nice look for most people, as long as you buy the right size pants. They work so so so so so well with boots.
|
i love skinny jeans. usually i have to go a size up when i buy them, but the girl @ the store i got my last pair from told me that's normally the case. i love how they don't drag the ground, and look great with boots, heels, & flats!
