Yeah, that was my point - I *might* pull it off if I was professionally fixed up head to toe and professionally photographed too! Otherwise, it just makes me look really, really weird and washed out.

That's the tip I got from a professional makeup artist. He said that women clamor to buy beige lipstick trying to get that fleshy tone, but that no such lipstick exists and instead end up with beige lips. Instead he put a coral lip gloss on me (a shade I would never have chosen for myself in a million years), and mixed it with a dot of concealer. Perfect color, don't ask me how!

I loooooooooooove make up. Seriously. If I thought I could make great money doing this easily I wouldn't be in nursing school.

I would not go to Sephora to get a make-over. Many of their associates are not estheticians or trained otherwise and trained at the store. Sure, sometimes you get great service, but it depends on the store you go to. My local store doesn't always give the best advice.

I highly recommend Bare Minerals if you're just starting make-up. Unless you have really dry skin, it works well for most people.

Estee Lauder, Benefit, Laura Mercier (More expensive), and Bobbi Brown (even more expensive) I feel would be the best place for a more natural looking make over.

However, I feel that MAC makes great eyeshadows. If you go to a MAC counter and ask for a every day very natural eye make up look they will be able to create one for you.

Most of all though, Do Not feel pressured to buy anything unless you like it! And make sure to check how your foundation looks in natural light, sometimes the color can look great inside, but terrible outside.

Beige/Super Nude Lips - Not my thing :\ But I'm super pale and brunette. I think it looks really high fashion and cool for a night out on the town, but it tends to look strange in every day wear. I prefer a more natural toned lip, like a lipstick or gloss in a very similar tone to your lips.
