I will buy new clothes when I've lost enough weight. So far I've lost 36lbs but only went from a size 16 to a size 14.... I ain't buyin no size 14 it's just too depressing. Until I can fit at least into a size 10-12 I will make do with what I have and just alter them.

Why is it depressing to buy size 14s? I went from an 18 (even though I had 22s in my closet) to a 12/10. When I hit 14s I was so happy! I couldn't even remember being a 14...ever. :P

No, size 14 isn't depressing in itself. It's the fact that I lost 36 pounds and only dropped one dress size, that's what I meant. I hear that the truth of it is that when you're thinner (like size 8 or 6) that even losing 5 pounds can put you into a lower size. But someone like me only sees one sized dropped in 36lbs! Isn't that depressing?

Alteration charges are very high, I recently had the sleeves altered on a jacket the, charge for alteration was as much as the jacket cost in the first place. I found when I was losing the best place to buy jeans was Goodwill,Salvation Army or Savers. I have gotten some really great jeans at these places and really cheap.

Oh heck yeah!!! Actually, you sound like me. I dropped 30 pounds and only went from an 18 to a 16. I stumbled upon 14s by accident: I was buying "inspiration" pants and they slid right up my hips (I thought they were going to be tight). So, yes, I understand fully! I say, though, keep shopping around for 12s...you might just surprise yourself!
