Hi. I have always kept my hair long because of my face being round. I live in Florida and it is really hot in the summer. I am getting my hair cut on the 15th and am thinking of going shorter than I usually go. Last year I went with an inverted bob and the front cam to just below my chin. It was a lot cooler.
My question is, if you have been "hiding behind your hair," and then decided to try a short cut, how did you like it? Was it much cooler? Did you feel good about your choice?
So far I am excited. I found two pictures I like and I am taking them in to the hiar stylist for her advice. I trust her completely. I have not had mine cut since November and desperately need to do something in this heat.

I just got my hair cut yesterday and I love it. I was getting tired of my hair (which is usually at the point that I cut it). I took a couple pictures with me that I liked and the hair stylist did a good job.
Oh, I was so happy that I hacked off my hair last February and I haven't wanted to grow it out since. I have a layered bob with a side swept bang... it's very versatile and always looks good and like I styled it even though all I do is blow dry it, whereas long hair just tends to kinda.. lay there and look unkempt unless you spend a lot of time styling it, which isn't an option for me (I am one of those girls that just didn't inherit the ability to style her own hair).
I think you should just go for it! Nothing can make you feel better than a fresh cut. It makes sense for the climate you live in. I am going the opposite direction. After having my hair cut short I am growing it out now. I had kept the Victoria Beckham thing for 2-3 years and finally it getting past my shoulders. I am actually having a TINY trim on Friday and boy, does it ever need it!

I have not been hiding behind my hair, but I definitely prefer the shorter cuts. Its just so much easier to deal with short hair. It hasn't been too warm here yet, but nonetheless, I can tell how now that I have it really short on the back, I will be way more comfortable when it gets warmer (I just got an inverted bob on Friday).
Thank you for the responses everyone. After today's walk today I have definitely decided to "go for it!" I found four styles I like, similiar, but slight variations. Two are with bangs and two are with layers, but no fringe bang. Now my decision since I currently am bangless is whether to go short with my bangs the same length, or have a fringe bang cut. I had bangs for years and my family all agree I look good either way.
I think I will just bring all the pictures with me and decide with my hair stylist. She is great and talented, so I know she will not steer me wrong.
I just got mine done when i was down in florida two weeks ago, and the girl did a lovely job, similar situation. I recently found that a Video game character has the same haircut--but I love it, I dont even have to blowdry it, I comb itback, and everything falls in place. I've never had such a stunning and easy haircut.
lol. I am glad you love your new hair cut. I have to laugh because when I got my inverted bob my husband and I were playing WOW and I took my character to the beauty shop and one of the hair choices was an inverted bob that looked just like my hair. My husband said I had to give it to my character, so she walked around like that for a few levels.
I alternate my hair length between short and long, short because I like it, long because I need it for conventions. Generally, I like it better short. It's less weight on your head, easier to manage and clean, and just generally looked better on me.
Jo, With two young children easier to manage sounds great to me. I have an appointment with my stylist on Friday morning and am determined to take the plunge. My decision now is between bangs or no bangs. Right now my hair is all one length, but one of the two styles I found that I liked has a fringed sideswept bang.
I think I will just bring both pictures and go from there.
