It does not look shiny. At all. Not even hours later. Perhaps you got a summer "shimmer" type? And I use the mineral veil. THAT is what keeps it looking the same all day long. It's the only thing in which the blush doesn't disappear by lunchtime. Nose never gets shiny. It looks, eight hours later, EXACTLY like it looked when I applied it. Nothing itches, and like I said, my face is VERY VERY sensitive.
What do I use?
1. after washing my face, I apply their mosturizer. Before I even dry my hair.
2. when I'm ready to start my make-up, I apply the Prime Time. That stuff feels AMAZING when it goes on.
3. Then I use the "light" and the smaller brush to do any redness cover-up. Which now, is almost nothing unless some tomatoes slip into my diet by accident.
4. Then I use the largest brush to apply the "fairly light" as the main foundation. Remember for all of it you are supposed to put a tiny amount in the lid, gently swirl the brush in it, THEN TAP IT OFF back into the lid. A tiny bit goes a long, long way.
5. Then I use the 2nd largest brush to apply the blush.
6. Follow up, using the largest brush, to apply the mineral veil.
7. After doing rest of hair and dressing, sometimes I add a tad more blush (I'm so pale.)
p.s. the "buffing"....? It simply means that you apply it with the brush, rather than blotting on your face. Not like "buffing" a car or anything.
