I'm an hourglass with thunder thighs. I like the lee jeans, I'm between a size 12 and a 14 right now. They do gap a little at the waist, but I don't think I've ever worn a pair of jeans that don't. I have a very easy foot to fit and I'm so glad since I love heels. I've been buying lots of madden, 9 west and kenneth cole from amazon.com. They have great prices on shoes.

I am an hourglass. I love the way my Gloria Vanderbilt jeans and pants fit me. For curvier girls they have the 16W, 18W, etc. And they have them in the regular sizes too.
They fit great and are affordable.

Thanks for this thread, very informative.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I think I'm too new to start my own thread. Anyway, I have been in tears over the last few days because I can't find any clothes that I like that also fit my body. Maybe you could suggest some brands or stores to try.

As for my body, I think I must really be an apple (34 waist and 39 hips). I am usually wearing a 10 these days, but sometimes an 8. I'm 5'2.5" and 138. Most pants are too big in the hips and too small in the waist. Lee jeans are usually painfully small in the waist for me. I end up buying pants that are saggy almost everywhere so that they won't be too tight.

As for my style- I'm 39 and teach elementary school. I would like something a little funky and colorful, but not too far out. Mostly I have been wearing nice plain long sleeve Ts and khaki pants. I would like something with a little more style and that is a little more feminine. At the same time, I can't be really wild with my clothes. It seems like everything I look at is too old or too young.

I don't mean to go on forever, I was just trying to give a good description of what I'm looking for. I would really appreciate any suggestions for clothes. I'm ready for a change, but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for. Thanks a bunch!

I'm short and have an AWFUL time finding pants that fit me without that awful gap in the back. Maybe I'll check out the Vanderbilt jeans.

At my low weight (110) I had (still have, waiting for me!) a couple of pairs of jeans by x-hil-iration (or something like that?) that fit AWESOME. Very flattering to the behind (even at 110, I have a curvy butt!) and fit my height well, even though they're not petite.

I wore a pair of them on my first date with my husband 2 years ago. I can't WAIT to wear them again.

I have always loved Silvers, evenwhen i only wore a size 4 . they just fit my body very well. Im 5'2 very curvy hourglass figure but no butt! lol..I like that silvers fits my hips well without being too snug , the pockets in the back also make my butt look nice, ( like I actually have one)

Shoes ...hmm I have small fit and generally wear heels alot . Im a size 6. I prefer nice west heels because they dont gap anywhere or slide. I usually will find them at a Ross though ( a discount store of name brand items) So i dont have to pay the big price tag.

I have lots of stomach and hips.

I like the Cotton Ginny pants, they usually have some stretch without being pouchy in the front. I always get a favourite and totally wear them out.

I also like Apt 9, You can buy them at Kohls, but I am not sure where else.

I'm 5'10", wide shouldered, round butt and somewhat long legged. I don't know my body shape, not a pear, hourglass or apple. My shoulders are so darned wide - I'm a T!

Pants: Paper Denim & Cloth, Lucky, DKNY, INC, Victoria's Secret. For workouts I really like those cheap Champion pants from Target, have like 6 pairs (a good sale one day).
Bras: Love Victoria's Secret pushup bras with the bio thing to make them appear anti-gravity, fluffier and give cleavage
Tops: Anything really, as long as the sleeves are long enough.
Shoes: Nikes for workouts, and anything for fashion. These days I'm tending towards high heels or my Frye boots. My feet are a normal width, size 9. Nikes NEVER fit when I was heavier, my feet were much too wide. Now they're heaven on heels.

I guess I'm sort of a "column" or "ruler" or whatever you want to call it. I have medium bust, no waist, NO hips, round butt, big muscular thighs and calves. Most of my weight is stored in my belly. I'm 5'2".

Best fitting jeans: Levi's juniors, Grane (cheapo Jr's jeans you can find at Macy's, Bon-Ton, other dept stores - I don't buy them anymore because they wear out too fast).

Tops: Old Navy used to be perfect, but they made everything narrower a few years ago, so now if I buy it wide enough it's too long. Kohl's brands seem to be best for plain tees, tank tops, and long-sleeved tees.

murphy - it sounds like you've got a body that would do well in Juniors sizes (short, no hips) but it would probably take a lot of time and effort to find stuff that fits your sense of style. However, if you wanted to just replenish your supply of khaki's or get other basics, that's probably the way to go. A good place for skirts that are not silly-looking but not boring (SO hard to find these days) is Christopher & Banks, if you have one near you. Most of their stuff is too old for my style, but I've bought a few skirts there.

mayness- Thanks! I'll see if I can find a Christopher & Banks in my area. I have recently found a few pair of pants at NY & Co and I'm able to pour myself into an old pair of Levi's, so I'm making progress.

Gloria Vanderbelt's have been good for me in the past though I have not bought a pair since I've gained a ton of weight. I look at the store but they don't have a shape I like anymore. Ann Taylor is pretty good and Coldwater Creek makes jeans that don't gap in the waist.
