DH is looking into getting a vasectomy. Eventually when I can stop my bpc... I'll be horny as a teen again LOL that I can't wait for.
Ankles inflate/deflated throught the day. Crazy. Gonna cut back more on my salt
Went through some hot/cold and shaky flashes today. Lovely - everyone was freezing in our office, I was going through cold/hot sweats. Ugh! My sense of hearing has doubled - I can smell a little better
Oh yeah... who the **** knew you get GAS when you quit smoking?? Grraaahh! I hate it!

Hang on! I just celebrated 30 months quit. Look up my profile on quitnet - same user name, I put lots of good tips and tricks in there.
Your body is going totally whack from the huge change. I wouldn't worry about the gain - it's probably temporary. Yeah, the gas was a shock to me too.
It might be best to not hang out with your smoking friends for a couple weeks.
Good luck! If I can do it after 27 years of smoking more than a pack a day - then anyone can!
LOTS OF ICE WATER.
I haven't had a cig in three weeks tomorrow. I quit cold turkey. Like, in the past month, I've had all these like life changing ideas and I'm following through with them. I quit smoking, I'm starting to lose weight. I'm trying to be nicer to people and not judge people how I always have. (I'm very closed minded, mean, bitter, judgemental, et cetera) but I'm making myself not be that way.
Anyway, three Sundays ago, my boyfriend, who is a non smoker, and I were at the laundry mat, when I lit my last cig. I looked at him and said "I think I'm going to quit smoking". So that's what I did. And it was horrible. Well, the first week anyway. My biggest problem was rage. Seriously, anything anybody said to me made me want to claw their eyes out. There were a few times I threw myself on the bed and screamed and cried like a little baby. I even pounded my fists. But now, I'm fine. I actually went to our favorite bar last night and all my smoking friends were there and I didn't have a problem. I still think about it, esp after I eat and when I get in the car and leave for work in the morning.
I think the only way I was able to do it is a few months ago my boyfriend and I got our own place together and it's the first non-craphole I've ever lived in, and I didn't want it to smell like smoke (and it's not fair to force my dog and cats to inhale smoke all day), so I had to go outside to smoke which became a pain, and then since my boyfriend doesn't smoke the only time I'm around smokers is when we go out. But, yeah, I can already feel the difference when I exercise, like, it takes a little bit longer to get out of breath then before. So, my point is, I'm very very proud of myself, and I hope everyone else who tries to quit can be as successful as me. Trust me, I really suprised myself with this one. I smoked like a pack or so a day, and I just quit. Like that. It gives me new hope in my willpower and I now think I can do anything I put my mind to.
I quit last Oct. after 25 years smoking. I gained weight like crazy, but it was more important to me to see my grandaughter grow up than worry about a couple of pounds.
After about the 3rd day it is all mental. All the nicotine that was stored in your body is gone. Though I don't know if that is true with the patch. After you get the nicotine out of your system it becomes about controlling that oral fixation.
If you can diet and cut out your favorite foods...you are strong enough to get through this, Every day you will think about smoking less and less. I still get a craving about every 5 monts or so and it passes pretty quick. I know that would no longer enjoy a cigarette.
Now I am dealing with the weight gain. You may end up with a few extra pounds to loose when it's over...but you buy yourself the time to do that.
Good luck!!! You can do this. Millions of people who are no better than you are have done it
For me it will be 11 years as a non-smoker, next month, after 27 years of 2+ packs a day. I am so glad I did...if I hadn't I might not be here to share your journey!
Add me to the crowd cheering you on I quit 12 years ago after being a 2 pack a day gal for 20+ years. The first month sucked but it got easier and it is without question the best thing I ever did for myself. You CAN do this!
Brava..for making the commitment outloud. I quit 8yrs.and one month ago,and have not had one puff since... for me that was/is the key. Not 'just one'..ever,never again. and if you can lock that in your head good and solid you'll make it. I had 'quit' 4 other times...from one month to 6 months. Before my quite/start date I told my husband,"no matter how *****y I get, just leave me be,because If I have to worry about not being *****y, AND not smoke,I'll use that as a excuse". As far as the gaining weight thing, this is my advice...it's not only what you do/don't put in your mouth as one of the chicks mentioned..it's also about your metabolism....reasoning is smoking makes your heart beat faster..which in turn gets your metabo moving faster..so i'ts not all about what you eat or not,it's alot about the metabo slowing down,so even if your eating the same stuff, your not burning it the same. That's why the excercise thing is a good idea, it gets the heart pumping in a good way. I wish you all the best..(I won't say best of luck, cause luck has nothing to do with it) It's a brave thing, and do try to stay away from your buds that smoke..maybe you'll find supportive friends, and hang with those. Don't mean to be so preachy, but I am excited for you. It's wonderful to be on this side of not smoking...take care,CHOICES~
I am also trying to give up - and do just fine until i have a drink - then it all goes down the pan! I knwo the answer is to stop drinking - but its my vice (among many)!!
After three weeks or so without smoking, I got pulled over and got a ticket and I was sooooo mad and I was like "Screw this" so I bought a pack of cigs. I lit one and it didn't taste like that refreshing, relaxing cig that I had loved. It tasted like burnt plastic, so then I was sooooo mad that my cig tasted bad, so I threw it on the ground and demolished it with my shoe, saying every swear word I could think of. Then I gave the pack I bought to my smoker friend.
Yeah for you!!! Remember how vile that FIRST cig tasted? You are probably getting your taste buds back.
I am not, have never been, a smoker. But my mom and dad were heavy smokers. I had problems with my eyes last year and went to a specialist. He looked in the back of my eye and said "you smoke, dodn't you"? I told him no, never had. He said "then you must have lived in a house with heavy smokers". He said I had damage to the small viens in the back of my eyes that you only see with smokers. So to all of you that think that lungs are the ONLY thing that cigs damage, think again.
