Default Question about a new shirt

Hi all, hoping somebody knows the answer to this:

I just bought a shirt that comes with a wraparound fabric belt that you tie around the waist. The shirt has two "belt loops" that are essentially like thick loops of thread to hold the belt to the sides of the shirt. Am I supposed to cut these off when I buy the shirt, or am I supposed to use them to hold the belt??

They are there to hold the belt.

You are supposed to loop the belt through them; but if you are like me, you will get rid of them. I find that everything with predefined waist has the waist too high. I am 5'9" and I don't recall ever having any piece of clothing where the waist would be in sync with my natural waist.

I'm with tomato,

If you like the loops and where the belt goes when you loop it through, fantastic, other wise cut em off!

Thanks! I wasn't sure if this was one of those things you're supposed to cut off (like when you buy a skirt with a slit in it, and it has a little stitch in the back you're supposed to remove).

I think I'll keep the loops for now, since otherwise I'd probably lose the belt in the laundry.
