But the good news is that you've learned to listen to your body and can tell when you're genuinely hungry and when you aren't. That's a huge skill that a lot of us don't have - we eat because it's time to eat, or we're bored or tired or stressed or whatever. Totally out of touch with what hunger really feels like and eating for all the wrong reasons. Good for you, Kate!

Thanks, Meg . That's a great perspective, and I'll really remember that. LOL. Especially because what I DIDN'T mention in my last post was the (very pretty) box of STUPID little candy-thingies from Harry & David that my boss "made me" take home from work today (because he's on Atkins and doesn't want 'em EITHER). The candies are, by the way, those little things that look like rasberries anad blackberries but are actually nothing but sugar. And I love 'em. And I was very hungry at the time because I hadn't had lunch yet. I worked 9 - 1:30 without a lunch break (because the clinic closes early on Sundays and we all leave at 1:30). Sooooo....I took the little buggers home with me. Which is not good because I then ATE some/many of the little buggers.

So, yeah, I knew I was hungry . I just ate food I knew I shouldn't have been eating.

The rest of them are now going in the trash.

When you put those candies down the trash, just in case you get the bright idea to go retrieve them, pour some dish soap on top

LOL, Ilene....great minds think alike. I actually threw them in the trash can that's outside -- the one that is reserved for dirty kitty litter and the plastic bags I used for "poo patrol." So there's no WAY I'm gonna retrieve them from THERE. I know myself very well...if they'd gone in a regular indoor waste basket with nothing else, well....hmmmm...

Isn't it amazing what you have to do sometimes to keep temptation away? Reminds me of that Seinfeld episode when George got caught eating a chocolate eclair out of the trash....

Good for you on throwing them out. I made some PB cookies last night but burned them on the bottom and instead of just throwing them all out I took a bite from the non-burned part on each cookie. I think it would have been less calories just eating one WHOLE cookie.
