how did you know how many calories you needed to maintain your weight after weightloss? I've been loosing weight for a little over 6 months now and its been mostly consistant, although in the last 2 weeks I lost 5 pounds, and was just wondering, when will it stop? Does your body eventually get used to the amount of calories you are consuming? Thanks a bunch for your help!
Your body wont get used to the number of calories your eating as such...since it always all comes down to how much energy you put in your mouth and how much you burn off during the day.
In my case it took a little trial and error. When i was losing I was consuming around 1200-1300 calories a day, when I reached my goal weight i increased that slowly week by week. I ended up losing a further 3-4kgs even though by that time I was eating about 1800 calories. I weigh about 53kgs (117 pounds) now at 5'6 and have maintained that weight since september eating around 2000 calories a day. I also cut back on the exercise a little and things have balanced out. When I go back to Uni and go back to the gym I'll no doubt have to increase my calorie consumption again.
But it's really just a matter of experimenting, try adding a 100 extra calories a week until you stop losing.
thank you so much! as soon as I reach my goal weight I'm going to increase my intake .. good to know my body doesnt just get used to the 1200 cals a day
It really depends on zillions of factors: your age, how much you lost, your activity levels. My body unfortunately maintains very well on 1400 calories at 5'3" and 127 pounds. I get between 1 hour to 90 minutes of gyms time, plus I have a non-sedentary job. But I'm 50 years old. Lyria is at least 30 years younger than I am and that her metabolism reflects that. You really have to experiment and see what works for YOU. Don't go by the calorie calculators- we are all different.
