Default So Tired!

This is the third afternoon in a row where I've felt just devastatingly tired! I can hardly keep my eyelids up.
It's not like a blood sugar low (I've done that before), it's not TOM. I got up at 0730 (that'd be between 8 and 9 hours sleep), did housework, did the chicken chores , stood talking to a visitor for a half hour or so, did chest, ate good and clean and some protein every couple of hours.
I had a little bowl of cereal with soy milk just now and am nibbling carrots. Figured maybe I needed to carb up a little.
I did buy Splenda the other day and have used about a packet a day. But that's about the only thing I've changed.
Any ideas?

Susan -- I'm just going to throw things at you k? Just stuff poppin' in at the top of my head!

- Are you drinking enough water?
- that little bowl of cereal and soy and carrots is alot of carbs...
- Are you eating too many carbs in general these days?
- Are you eating every 2-3-4 hours?
- Are you eating enough protein along with those carbs?
- Is it the weather? You're in SW Ontario I'm in E Ontario, I know it's very dreary here today and I am feeling a bit sluggish myself...

hmmmmm.... I can't think of anymore at the moment...

Could you becoming down with something? Half my office is sick... Maybe if it continues check with your doctor. I am drained today and then I realised, I forgot my iron pill.

Take care,

Ali

Are you hitting that wall at almost the same time every day?

For me personally it wouldnt be carbs producing that affect...i'm a low-carbers worst nightmare lol. If they saw my daily foodplan they'd probably break out in a cold sweat :P Carbs are the brains main foodsource...so eating more of them could help. I wouldnt recommend giving into napping, that always seems to leave me even more groggy than I was beforehand whenever i used to do that (so I don't anymore).

Sometimes I find that if I get a little more active just as I can feel a slump come on, say go for a little walk, or do a little jig to whatevers on the radio it picks me right up again.

And if all else fails, see your doctor!

Ok ... I have upped my carbs in an attempt to up my calories.
I do drink lots of water.
By that time I'd had 54 gms of protein and 48 gms of carbs.
It was dreary here! I never did go for that walk.
I take iron, yup.
A cold went through the house, but I never got it
I did try to nap but couldn't fall asleep.
Doing a little jig to the radio would be right up my alley!

I have been running into being low cals at the end of the day, so I hurry up and eat something before bed. I'll try spreading my cals out better, doin' the jig and disregarding the weather. I haven't been to the doc in about 20 lbs so maybe I should pop in and see what he thinks. Wouldn't hurt to have some blood work done.

By the way ... my friend popped in for tea a little later this aft. By the time she left I was fine. Caffeine? Company? The sun coming out? Maybe just a bad combination.

Thanks all!

Are you lifting super-heavy to failure (whatever that is for YOU)? When I first changed my workout pattern, and whenever I change my split, I'm exhausted for a week or two. For a while, I was taking a short nap between 3-4 pm before I went back to the gym for evening clients. I don't think anything was wrong with me, I was just taxing my body in a new way and it needed more rest.

Maybe I just have tired, hungry muscles? I did actually change that too because I got a barbell set. To failure ???? I dunno, I do reps until I wobble ... but it is much heavier.

SusanB -- How are you feeling? Are you still as tired? Have you pin-pointed what made you tired?

Hi Ilene ... the next day I worked so my food was spread out nicer and I didn't have time to be tired. Then yesterday I was busy and didn't notice. I certainly think there's a boredom element involved.
I also skimped on the carbs a bit and saved them for bedtime. I had baked tostitos with tuna.
Also ... I didn't lift yesterday. I went for a big long walk instead. The couch potato's version of cardio day
So ... yes ... I think it's some combination of learning to feed hungry muscles on time and keeping happily busy.

Alas ... it's still been a long time since I've had a 'physical' ugh! So sooner or later I'll get around to seeing my doc too.
