hmmm. just found out my business trip to India on sunday may not happen because of the India/Pakistan tensions. I need to go if I can, but if i don't then that's ok too - I just want to know whether to book my favourite gym classes next week or not!!! If I don't book them now they'll be booked up and I won't get in. Or if I book them and forget to cancel in time it's a $10 fee per class. Not loving the uncertainty at the moment - also do I knuckle down and get all my presentations written for the trip, or focus on other stuff?!

Shannon - do you like your yoga? I just started - well, it was November, but it still feels novel. I'm sort of un-decided on how much I like it. I like a nice stretch but i'm not really in to all the psychological side, and I probably don't do the breathing as well as I could.... I'm still pursuing it though.

No science to back me up but I seem to remember reading that your body works harder to digest crap food than healthy food. So your heart would be working harder yes?

I've been doing a form of yoga (my own mish mash of poses) for over 40 years now. I think it's saved me from any severe injury at work and for sure it's made me much more fit at my age - which is now a couple of years over 60.

Shannon-- yes, I've noticed that too. When my weight is up, my heart rate is up too.

Ange-- what type of work do you have that would take you to India? I've never been but the school I work at has a very heavy Indian population-- probably close to 70% of our students in fact.

Ange - I mainly do yoga videos from Yoga With Adriene. I LOVE her. I'm on my 436th day in a row, after picking back up with a 30 day challenge in January 2018. I'd been hit or miss before that. I love the way it makes me feel. Adriene isn't as into the psychological side as some - she often makes jokes, mixes up her words, etc. I like that. I hope you get some info on your trip soon, uncertainty drives me crazy.

Dagmar - that makes a lot of sense.

Good day today. I slept a little later than I wanted, but still hit everything on my plan this morning. Yoga, swept/mopped the upstairs bathroom & laundry room, ran the Bravaa robo-mop downstairs (and I LOVE her - we are hitting our groove on how to block off rooms for maximum impact), spot mopped some places she can't get to, day 2 of the last week of my exercise program, cooled off on the stationary bike, got distracted by cleaning out the medicine drawer in the bathroom that had collected all kinds of junk, now at work. Still drinking coffee - got an Ember mug for my office, so it keeps it hot ALL DAY so I don't have to drink it as fast. Technology and me are tight right now.

Mudpie - yes I agree with you that yoga or similar flexibility/strength exercises are important for injury prevention, and not just sports injuries, more the ability to correct yourself and spring away if you misplace your foot or suddenly or have to duck under something, or just everyday bending and twisting really. You see some people tottering along as if barely balanced and a gust of wind would blow them over, which isn't where you'd want to be.

Shannon - love that you're on to Day 436 of a 30-day challenge Also that you're still counting I don't know if i'm motivated enough to try it at home, but it would be good to get something on my computer for when i'm travelling I guess. I also like to go to different classes with different teachers at the gym because they all have different things to say which add up to a better big-picture (especially when i'm still learning). On the other hand sometimes it gets a bit wordy and the flow isn't as natural as it would be at home. Also I spend time panicking about which is left and which is right I half these classes because my brain hasn't sorted that one out yet!

Michele - I work as a application specialist for a chemical company in our Mining division, and am developing a new product to use in steelmaking with a big Indian company in the South. I like India! Not mad keen on the crazy big cities there, but my work gets me to the more laid-back places - industrial but rural too. Think the trip is on after all, which is good really. Not many Indian's in Aus really, but i'm from UK originally, in the North, and there were areas with same sort of percentage of Indian's as at your school. I bet they're all pushed along a bit by their parents? Great food!

Spin class was good this morning. Just home. Feel really energised and pleased with myself now.

Ange According to some people the best curries in the world are in the UK, particularly London. An indication of a very changed demographic.

Ange-- glad your trip is back on, then. Yes, my school district is well known throughout India as one of the top in the US (I'm near Silicon Valley in California), so families (multi-generational) come for the schools. Very serious about education. The rest of our demographics are almost all Asian. It's interesting because I live about 15 minutes from my school, and my neighborhood is much more blended. My older dd just got married to a Chemist-- he's a great guy!

I'm sick as a dog now. I have zero voice and have to be at work. My book fair is getting delivered at some point today (we set up Friday) and it is Kindergarten Day (plus other classes). The Kindergarten teachers will all have SUBS as they have a planning day today. I'm just praying I make it through....

My dd in Arizona went home from work yesterday (she teaches 6th grade) with 103 temp (and other symptoms). She wanted to go to work today (still has 102 temp) because they have parent/teacher conferences. I had to beg her to stay home, which she finally did. I have no fever so can't really justify staying home-- they won't get me a sub so it's way more trouble than it's worth.

Ok well I a back in sync having had a bit of a tummy issue and am 134.2 - I really try to keep that as my goal with the 2lb window and adjust accordingly

Normally I get up, drink coffee, and each dog gets a 2 mile brisk walk followed by a quick touch up with a grooming rake/slicker and a pass by on the nails if I hear any clicking on the hardwood floors. Then they go down, eat breakfast, rest for 30 minutes and go outside while I work as a telecommuter. During the day they will each probably get another walk and some training - for example tonight I am training after work with a teammate - Tilly will get to run trails from his car (unknown direction for me to establish direction of travel) and Beau will get some human remain problems in the woods plus I work him a lot on "blank" holes so that he does not alert on disturbed earth. one of those holes will have a very small bit of material hidden in it.

Can't really talk about actual search calls per team policy but it was fine as was training afterwards. LOL went to my teammates house and her "attack goose" took off after Beau who could have cared less one way or the other. Tilly would have had dinner I am afraid!

Have to dial into a work meeting but will come back for personal notes after the meeting. Grabbing small amounts of time whenever I can.....

Michele - glad that DD stayed home with a fever. That is nothing to mess with, as contagious as things can be in a small space. My mom is a nurse and she missed two weeks of work with the flu and a 102 fever, they made her come back in one day in the middle and she had to go right back home. Shortly after she was there, two more people went out sick with the same thing. No fun. Hope you feel better soon! Try to not let the book fair push you too exhausted. If you can.

Nancy - Tummy issues are no fun, glad you are feeling better! Blank holes - meaning that the surface is flat and doesn't look like something is there?

Ange - glad your trip is back on! I took some yoga classes at a martial arts studio several years ago, so had some foundation before I started the at home stuff. Ran through several different at home videos. Jason Crandall is also really good, and not all 'woo' either. Adriene has a YouTube channel with a lot of free videos if you are interested - Yoga with Adriene

Good day today. Yoga, vacuumed the baseboards and dust frames, ran the Bravaa mop in the dining room and the downstairs bath while I exercised, rode the stationary bike, and at work with coffee. Food was great yesterday. We have DSS tonight and his birthday is Saturday, so we are offering him a 'whatever you want' meal for dinner. Which prolly means Wendy's, which is what we often have on Wed when he's over. I can get a salad that way. If he picks Sonic, I'll have to punt.

wow michele, you should stay home if you're sick.
Is there pressure really from work to make you go in, or is it just you being diligent? I definitely wouldn't mix with other people if I was ill with something potentially contagious. Take it easy and hope you feel better soon

thanks for the Adriene link Shannon i'll definitely have a look at that and probably download a couple of sessions for my trip - she already gets bonus points for having what looks like an Australian Blue cattle dog that is very cute! i'll let you know how I go!

This India trip is getting to be a bit of a fiasco. As well as my steel project with the customer, we're supposed to be having a global meeting for the 'Materials Handling' people, but the senior president of the customer has expressed an interest in our presentations (and if he attends, all his senior managers attend too) and now everyones schedule has to be switched around to accommodate them on a different day to planned, which is a good thing profile-wise for our company, but it means we're all having to change flying times, buy extra flights, prepare extra presentations etc etc and our internal meetings are secondary and squeezed in to breakfast meetings and after dinner meetings, and we have people from our company coming in from N America, S. America, Europe, South Africa, China etc who are all getting messed about with last-minute itinerary changes. Ah well, next week will pass, one way or another!

I *can* stay home, but I'm just stubborn-- I know the kids won't have library if I'm not here, and I have no fever. I'm taking it easy (for me). I haven't gotten up early the past two mornings to do my before work workouts.

Speaking of workouts-- Shannon or others-- I typically do an approx 30 minute morning workout-- something dance like or cardio but not too extreme-- just to get my brain and body moving. I recently started streaming some youtube videos-- found popsugar fitness and a few others. Anyone find any they like on youtube?

Michele - I subscribed to Fitbit Coach for a while. It had several short workouts like that, with programs you could set up. On YouTube I don't know of any personally, but I know there are some.

Clocks go forward Sunday and I rejoin the world - sort of. Will be getting up @ 4:30 a.m. instead of 3:30. I'm still hoping Natalie eventually starts to sleep a bit more in the mornings. She's 6 now so let's hope she starts slowing down a bit.
