We had dinner but didn't make it to the light show. A guy driving behind us took great exception to DH stopping to allow someone in front of us to pull into a parking lot. He drove behind us and then drew up beside us and was menacing us and trying to push us off the road. i just wanted to get away from him and come home.

First time I've felt that in all my years living here.

Actually a day early! It’s tomorrow. School had it on the marquee early. Just back from movie with Dh and off to a nice dinner soon. We are planning a breakfast out before Dh flies out. Again...

Happy belated birthday Michele!

Ugh, Dagmar, that stinks. Sometimes I just can't stand humans...

Welcome, Nancy! Glad you are joining us. I think you are very wise to add personal training to your life. I know that's what has allowed me to maintain for over 5 years.

Really cool that you have SAR dogs! I used to train herding dogs and compete in sheepdog trials. Having traded sheepdog trials for hiking trails, I've switched to training our cats to do tricks I still have sheep and two Border collies but I don't plan to get more dogs. Hiking and gardening take up much of my time.

Ange, I love your before and after photos. You look terrific!! Where was your trek? I hike extensively in the Sierras and have done a bit of the Arizona Trail too.

Allison, great to hear your weight is going down!

Dagmar, love the pic of Trixie

Happy Birthday Michele and the other March babies. My mother would have been 92 today. She died a little over 20 years ago.

And down anther pound. I'm hoping to go down at least 4 more this month.

Looking into getting some collapsable hiking poles. Any advice?

Allison, I like the hiking poles with external locks. The ones that twist to lock always seem to fail after a while. Also, I don't care for so-called shock absorber ones. They feel mushy when I need them to feel secure. My own are Black Diamonds, from their Trail Series. I love the long grip, because I can simply change my hand position to effectively make them shorter or longer when going up and down hills. The Leki brand is also very good, and I believe they have a lifetime warranty.

doh.... lost a post....

alinnell - I have the black diamonds too. The z-poles are the ones for me because they're super light weight and pack up super small, which is what suits me best because if i'm scrambling around rocks or something, then I want my hands free and the sticks go in my bag easily

howlin - on Saturday I walked from Katoomba to Mt Solitary and back. That one was only about 15 miles but beautiful, and some nice scrambly sections at the end. Here's some pics from someone elses' blog, but has the same sights we saw. Mt Sol pics Sydney 'mountains' are weird because typically you have to climb down from the plateau first in to an almost canyon like area, then the last part of the day is climbing back out.

Hey just popping in. Will be more engaged in a few days. In my range at 135.2. Not feeling too good today (tummy) and have a very busy work day. So just going to focus on getting through the day.

Test of FB picture - let me know if this works. It was me and Tilly about 30lbs ago (for me) and she is taking a scent article. I tried putting the url in the picture place and it did not work there. It may have to do with my FB settings not being public. I can make pictures work from photobucket

FB link says "sorry content not available right now", probably due to your privvacy settings as you said.

Hi all! I'm back, and on the train. DH and I took Thursday and Friday off last week. His birthday was Friday, and we had tickets to Les Mis at the theater downtown. Booked a hotel room right across the street, stayed overnight, made it an event. Ate whatever we wanted, walked a lot. Then, this weekend got somewhat off the rails with some fast food, but could have been SO MUCH worse. Got steps in Sunday, did lots of laundry and cleaning, prepped lunches for this week.

Today was back to the 4 am DSS school morning after two weeks off - a week of winter break, and then DH taking him last week on the off day. Whew, it came early. Yoga, day one of the last week of my workout program, stationary bike, headspace, cleaned the three bathrooms, got breakfast and lunch for the boy, washed a load of towels, balanced my checkbook, left the robot vac running when we left. I am freaky productive on the 4am mornings. If I could just get myself out of the bed on time every day I could rule the world!

I'm pretty excited to see what my after markers look like when I finish this workout. It has been 18 weeks, with the same after markers that I tested before I started. I feel stronger, that is for sure.

Ange - handstands and cartwheels! Wow! I have never been able to do a cartwheel, even when I was a kid and desperately wanted to do them with my friends. I can do a brief handstand against the wall now, but will likely never be unsupported. Good luck with yours!

Nancy - I love the SAR dog stuff! That sounds fascinating. I'm also looking forward to dog pics. Yes, the private FB setting blocked the one above from sharing. I tend to find Photobucket easier, too.

Michele - happy yesterday was your birthday!

Allison - you are rocking! Woo! Let us know how the zozosuit works - that looks cool.

Dagmar - that is much unpleasant about the other driver. Sorry you missed your event because of it.

Jay - love the new thread title!

Hope everyone else is well!

Birthday was yesterday. Sweet dh was home for just a few days and brought a present-- a cold. Ugh.
We celebrated with dinner and a movie Saturday since he had to leave again yesterday. Unfortunately, his flight was delayed 10 hours but he was already at the airport. If we'd known, we could have spent my birthday together. He's in the air now headed to China.

Hoping my birthday/cold weight goes away quickly. We will see. My fitbit shows my pulse is way up from my norm.

Hoping my cold is short-lived. I still got up at my usual 4:45 but didn't do my morning workout as I knew I wasn't feeling great and I have tons of work at work to do for the next few weeks! You are super productive with your 4 am workouts, Shannon!

I did two "rides" on my Peloton yesterday. If you do "live" rides (vs. on demand), the instructors sometimes call out if you're having a birthday or hitting a milestone (like your 100th ride, etc.). Both instructors called me out (my leader board name which is "readmydust". Very cool! I can always take the rides on demand again if I want to relive my birthday-- ha ha!

Hello to everyone else!

Michele - does your Fitbit show an increased heartrate after a few days of poor food choices? I've noticed that mine does. When I have a cold or sinus yuck too, which I expected. The increase after overeating took me by surprise, though. Hope you feel better.
