Saturday morning, back down to 155.6. Same swing over the past two days.
I went on a kind of strike yesterday afternoon at work -- as if I'd already entered the weekend. I managed to get some small tasks done. It's because I have an interview with a potential manager next Thursday morning. I have to remind myself that I must stay focused and carry on as if there is no possibility of changing jobs, in case it doesn't happen.
After many days of temperatures in the mid-50s, the heat is supposed to come today and then intensify into a wave of heat & humidity. Yesterday, wearing a fleece pullover at my desk, this was difficult to imagine.

Interesting thread!
Travelingmichele, just recently I was reading about how sore muscles will retain fluid while healing and then release it. Not a reason to stop working out, just make sure to rest each muscle group a day inbetween.
Mudpie, I have had a couple surgeries, including open heart. I would LOVE to be able to have videos of my surgeries to watch afterwards. You watch surgeries on TV, why not your own? Also, I would love to hear the conversations going on in the operating room during the surgery.....or maybe not! I think I've been watching too much Gray's Anatomy. LOL
Lots of politics here which is very interesting to me. I'm also catching up on things which have been left for a couple of years as a consequence of lots of things happening in the family. It feels as though I'm clearing the decks for the next phase. This is very encouraging as I find serious weight loss only happens when there is space to focus on it.
Andrea, fingers crossed you'll be able to throw your glasses away!
saef, I recognise that going on strike thing, and I think it's sensible and protective. I'm wearing a fleece half-zip jumper as the rain lashes down outside. I'm thinking seriously about lighting the fire to drive away that uncomfortable damp feeling.
Wannabehealthy, good reminder about muscles retaining fluid, especially after weight training. That's what gives that 'pumped' look after training. Having a day off allows the muscles to repair themselves and become even stronger so it's a good thing all round.
Andrea, best wishes for a perfect outcome. I hope the discomfort eases quickly too.
I'm still recovering from Death Cold. I coughed so much during Thursday's lecture that I had to run out of the room. Fortunately it was a rare situation where there were two of us team-teaching, so my partner was left having to cover my topic for a while (which he doesn't know much about). He's a fun extrovert so I think he mostly told jokes while I was gone. I'm sure the students enjoyed that more than my lecturing/coughing.
Day 9 of no sugar, flour or booze. Going well despite stress, but I've had no appetite in general because of being sick so it's been artificially easy to stay on plan. I broke my normal pattern of weighing monthly to weigh weekly instead, and I'm down 3 lbs (likely all water/carb weight).
Also, I would love to hear the conversations going on in the operating room during the surgery.....or maybe not!
I had a friend who wasn't under all the way before the surgeon started removing part of her lung (lung cancer). After the surgery, he didn't believe her when she told him she was able to hear him and the staff talking. Then she started repeating their conversations to him. She did not, however, repeat the part where they were talking about her size (she's a larger woman), but he must have realized she'd heard that, too. Hopefully, he and his staff won't talk about their patients like that again. She said it was kind of awful being awake while the surgeon was cutting into her. Luckily, she wasn't awake during the whole surgery.
Wait, you mean a vacation isn't SUPPOSED to be a mad sprint from place to place? He who dies having seen the most, wins :>)
I had Lasik surgery on my left eye yesterday. What a weird and unnerving experience, having someone slice into your cornea while you're awake. Last night and today, my eye has been very uncomfortable (like there's sand in it) and I have a desperate desire to rub it that I'm resisting for all I'm worth. OTOH, I can already tell I'm seeing better out of it, even though the ophthalmologist said it would be 3 days before I could really tell how much improvement there is. Oh, to be able to stop wearing glasses after 48 years (I was 2 1/2 when I got my first pair)!
Have a happy weekend everyone.
I had corrective surgery about 14 years ago. Best decision ever! I had prk because my corneas were a little thin for lasik. I had slower recovery as a result, but I can see! Now that I'm older, I'm starting to get normal age related far sightedness. I wear glasses to drive but I barely need them.
Are you having the other eye done soon? I had both done at the same time.
Carol/Wannabehealthy, have you ever been on this thread before? A moderator no less. I don't remember you in any case, so welcome.
To all who asked, yes it's just the left eye. I was born with one far-sighted and one near-sighted eye, as well as strabismus (my left eye turned inward when my right eye was looking straight ahead), and even after eye muscle surgery, my 2 eyes never worked together well enough for me to develop binocular vision. I've spent my whole life looking at the world one eye at a time. Thanks to the eye that's near-sighted, I don't need reading glasses even though I have presbyopia now, and by correcting the far-sighted eye to 20/20 for distance, I now have one eye "tuned" for each kind of vision, far and near. It's actually really cool. I'm quite happy with the results. I went to see Wonder Woman today, and saw all the detail on the screen perfectly without glasses. Yay.
I baked bread yesterday, for the first time in about two years, and I ate some thin crumbling slices for breakfast. If my weight doesn't change this week, I will keep a small amount of bread in my life. No big deal? To me it's a victory in a battle with my idea about what foods are forbidden and which ones are safe.
I slept with blankets last night but today we're supposed to hit 90 degrees.
I cannot imagine the fear I would have if I were awake for surgery! I imagine I'd feel it and that scares me. OTOH, I love witnessing stuff like that--but on other people.
I've always wanted lasik but have not pursued it because DH has kerataconus and has really bad eyesight that precludes him from the surgery. But last year he had a cataract and had surgery for that and is almost 20/20 in that eye. His other eye is developing a cataract but isn't bad enough for insurance to cover the surgery. He frankly cannot wait to have that eye done since he's been in glasses since he was a toddler. At the point where he has the other eye done, I'll look to doing lasik so I can see without contacts BUT I refuse to do the type where one eye sees far and one sees near. I've tried to do that using contacts and I just cannot do it. Bugs me so much! I know my mom did that and loved it for years. Not me!
Sunday morning after a rather dull Saturday. We did golf in the morning and went for a nice lunch. I took a much needed nap in the afternoon--that was nice. Weight down this morning which is remarkable for the weekend. I'm down about 3 pounds of vacation weight.
So I've decided I don't like these metabolic meals. After next week's delivery, I'm going back to Freshly. Granted they're a little higher in calories, but they're more rounded and cheaper and of better quality.

Thanks for the welcome, Andrea. I think I posted here one other time, as I like to read a lot of threads to see how and what others are doing. This being a maintenance thread, I've got a way to go before I can fit into that category!
I am a new Moderator, so I forget that it says so right there on my Avitar. LOL

It's 33 C here today and blastingly ( ) sunny. I washed the rest of my fleece and my snowpants and put them away.
Post as much as you like, Carol. It's nice to have you here.
If you've lost a pound and kept it off then you're a maintainer. We've got a weekly thread too. This thread is for those of us who've put on weight again after we lost it.
33C, Dagmar? That was a quick change!

Monday morning, still cool in the morning, though I can feel yesterday's heat and how it will continue through today.
I'm at 156.9. Weight pretty much at a standstill, fluctuating within the same range, but lower than it was.
A strange day today, in which I'll have an early meeting at my home desk, then commute later in the morning. I need to work on a project plan and set up meetings, then back up my things from my cubicle for an impending move.
Fell off the boat this weekend, but mostly just Saturday. I think I ate enough junk Saturday for an entire week though. 152 this morning, but I'm also pretty bloated probably from upcoming TOM, plus the salty food this weekend. Today is my last work day before vacation! I probably will not be checking in while I'm on vacation, but will be back around here in a couple weeks.
