Thanks Saef!

We have a leak in our house. DH cut a few holes in the wall on the other side of the bathroom where the leak has appeared and found it. His friend plugged it temporarily but we need to get a plumber out. Second one in about 5 months -- house is 23 years old with original plumbing. So we are looking at getting it "re-plumbed". Quite expensive! Now I am worrying if mold started where the leak is! So reading about that. Many of our neighbors replaced their plumbing years ago -- so we have been lucky that we haven't had any leaks until this past year I guess. At least there is just one more payment for college for DD. It could have happened when we had years to go! Can you see I am looking for the good in this situation?

Congrats Alice! How exciting!

It's my craziest week of the year (happens twice a year)-- book fair!
No time to get on here unfortunately.

Usually I lose weight during book fair, but I'm gaining this week like crazy. Dd is home for Spring Break and we're eating out each night. Trying to make good choices so I hope it's mainly sodium but it's kinda panicking me! I'm up 8 pounds since the weekend. She doesn't leave till Sunday!

Saef - thanks for the info on Alice Roosevelt Longworth, that is interesting! We just finished watching the Ken Burns The Roosevelts documentary and I know a lot more about Alice than I did, but still not much.

Sharon - find the good where you can!

Alice - good luck on your race. The name itself is intimidating.

I just can't catch a break with my health this year, nor can DH. He got sick the first week in Jan, then struggled off and on all month resulting in a 911 call at the end of the month and a lot of meds from the doctor after that. I was sick pretty much all of February. Now he and I both have caught a stomach bug going around. Everyone says it is only 48 hours, so we should be in the clear after tomorrow. We need a do-over for the entire year, please.

Thanks for the good wishes for my upcoming event! I'll try to post an update Sunday night at the motel.

Saef, glad the exam went well. I hope they will prescribe additional PT. I notice your weight went down a bit - that's excellent!

Chris, Choctoberfest sounds like a reason for me to make a hiking trip to Colorado! I'd love to come to the one in Albuquerque but I'll be doing my March in White Sands that day.

Michele, those restaurant meals will get you every time. Now it's a waiting game (weighting game??) to see how much water you shed in the next few days. I'm taking my own food on this trip. If I start eating unaccustomed restaurant food my system might rebel. And the last thing I need on a 26 mile hike in the desert (no bushes) with 5000+ other people is a rebellious system!

But speaking of restaurants, DH and I will be going to the Easter buffet at Harris Ranch, which is about an hour from our house. Check out the menu .

Sharon, good job on the 10K time! I think you'll be able to defeat any mold if you thoroughly dry and treat the area. Maybe leave an access hole so you can check the area.

Shannon, sorry about the continued unhealth Maybe you can consider the Spring Equinox as your start-over day for the year.

I told my supervisor I am retiring. He was actually sympathetic and said he would do the same thing in my shoes. My last official day is May 1, but I'll probably still be working here as extra help until they can hire a replacement and I can train him/her.

Default Now I understand

As most of you know I work for myself but I'm now on a university payroll as well. I've just received this:

Quote:
In recognition of our ..., we have just been sent a large tray of ...’s legendary chocolate brownies. They are in room 411 and as I type this, they are still warm.
I am happy to say that I'm nowhere near the building, let alone room 411. It did flit across my mind that I could pop in later to check my pigeonhole. As I've already done that today, anything else can wait until Monday, can't it?

This kind of thing is quite new to me: it's never ever happened to me before. You people who receive this kind of message day in, day out have my deepest sympathy.

I don't know what has happened. Is it my browser or my computer? But when I access 3FC at home the site is all weird. Different logo, I can't go to the first new post (I have 3FC bookmarked to go to my subscribed threads). At work it is fine. At work I run Windows 7 with Google Chrome. At home I have a Mac and Safari browser.

I noticed it first a couple of weeks ago but it went away. Now it seems to be staying. I don't like it. I may have to be a weekday poster...

Allison - I got it yesterday when I was trying to access 3FC from my tablet, then again on my work computer today as well. I also couldn't see avatar pics. I don't like it - I wonder if your Mac is going to a mobile site by accident? It looked like a mobile site.

Birchie - the property management office sends a huge bag of candy to each office suite every month, themed to the month. Sigh.

I'm back to exercise, and was back at my office today. Avoided the candy.

Allison, it sounds like the mobile version which I don't like either. My bookmarks stopped working properly on the phone (made me go through too many clicks) and I've had to set things up again. It's still too cumbersome, though. All is OK on my Macs though.

Moon Howler,
Karen and I will be in Aspen all summer (insane hiking there) where I host a classical radio show. In early September, me and a friend or two bicycle to the top of Mt Evans 14,256' when the paved road is no longer populated with cars. By September 19 the aspen leaves are in full color mode. Say hi if you come by (free admission to Choctoberfest to all 3FC folks!).
Today is a day of chocolate excess at the aAlbuquerque Chocofest. Should be fun, Thanksgiving in March. Tomorrow is the day I'm most concerned about.
