Congrats Sharon! That's awesome! I guess she'll check things out in Manhattan and figure out what is possible.

Allison-- what an incredible opportunity for your SIL. Could they move any closer to you or is that not feasible?

No, not while DD is trying to finish grad school (and then get her PHD).

Sorry to be a few days late replying, work has been nuts again but is finally slowing down. C has this bucket she likes to put on her head and wear around the house as a hat. She was wearing it when we were getting them bundled up for their walk, and DH was dressing her, and he just left it on and put the hood over it because he thought it would be funny. She didn't mind and seemed warm and toasty! She really likes having that bucket on her head and gets upset if you take it off of her sometimes. (She also really likes shoes, and tries to wear multiple pairs of shoes at the same time and then gets angry that she can't put them all on her feet at once.)

Allison, it sounds like a great opportunity for your SIL. But what is their plan when DD graduates? I imagine that if she gets a great job somewhere that they would move there, which might put a wrench in the plan to hand off the business.

DD said she wanted to move to Seattle and work there because it'd be closer to his family who live in northern Washington. I don't know how feasible it will be for her to simply move and find a job. I'd think applying all over for the position she wants and then finding a job would be paramount, but those are her plans. I'm sure it'd be possible for her to get a job here and then the whole thing would work out. I believe we'll be talking about this next weekend.

I haven't updated my ticker yet but I did my 250th bikram yoga class of the year last night. That was my minimum goal for the year so I'm glad I reached it.

I have a new Surface Pro 3, which I've been trying to set up for the past two days. Why is setting up a new system always such a hassle? They make it very easy if you just accept what they think you should have, such as continuous cloud access. But if you don't want that, it's not easy to do anything else. Grrrrr! Make me want to act out with food.

Jessica, the girls are totally adorable.

I have now been away from home for 8 days, finally heading back tomorrow afternoon. Even though I've been attending conference sessions ALL DAY EVERY DAY since last Friday, while also trying to answer work emails and deal with urgent patient problems long-distance, I am more relaxed and sane than at any time since the spring. Is it terrible to say that my family stresses me out almost as much as my job? I don't know what's worse- having to ride herd on the 3 boys to get their work done, listening to my husband lose his temper every hour at their shenanigans, or fretting about the myriad household tasks that never seem to get done because we're both too busy.

Also, it's ridiculously cold. It really DOES feel like we jumped directly from October into January. It was 28F in Washington DC earlier this week!

I bought all of my Christmas décor stuff today at Target. Didn't intend to do this - just popped in for a look see. I had just been paging through Harry & David's catalogue (which I can no longer afford) and got some really good ideas from them for centerpieces for both the buffet table and the bar.

I am going to make my own centerpieces. One is going to be contained by a large red canoe http://www.target.ca/en/whatsinstore...oe?lnk=content and the other will be a birchbark tree beside a wooden tray and a red leather icebucket (if I win the auction on eBay).

I got some burlap placemats and a table runner with branches and red berries embroidered on them and red borders to go under everything. The green part of Christmas will come from fresh seasonal greenery (have to check that I get stuff that won't poison Natalie and two green tree shaped candles (again from Target).
