Well, yesterday afternoon I got a call from the place where I had my mammogram last week and they saw an abnormality and wanted additional pics as well as an ultrasound on the right side. Went in this morning and they did additional pics and ultrasound bilaterally, which makes me feel more comfortable as I know they're being thorough. It all came back normal, which I expected, but it is still stressful being called back so I didn't sleep well last night.
That and my Mom is in the hospital. She's been in considerable pain and they decided to do a bypass graft in her let (artery). They placed 3 stents in her calf arteries to open them up and did the graft up in the femoral area. She went in thinking (or at least telling everyone) that she'd only be in overnight, but my SIL called last night saying Mom might be in for several days. The last time she had this surgery, she was in the nursing home, so an overnight and back to the nursing home is protocol. Since she's no longer in a nursing home, they tend to keep them in longer. I doubt she'll be happy about that. My SIL will see her today and call me with an update (nice that my SIL is a discharge planner at the hospital so she can keep an eye on things).
I don't know what is going on today - didn't feel great this morning, somewhat stiff and store, slept poorly last night, somewhat anxious about things going on at work, next thing you know I'm at the bag of tortilla chips... Which really doesn't help with the anxiety. Ick.
Pulled it back out at lunch with a healthy broccoli/asparagus/yellow & orange pepper/carrot/onion/chicken breast stir fry. Feel much better. Bypassed the rice and pasta, very light oil, only some dry spices.
Allison - glad the mammogram came out fine, it is stressful being called back for that kind of thing.
Allison - glad everything came out fine on the call back. I hate that anxiety as well.
I'm spending an inordinate amount of time uploading photos for an assignment for a class I'm taking at the local branch of the university. Their site does not allow you to upload folders - only individual files, which is photo by photo. We are required to submit a minimum of 25 photos. He says if it doesn't work well this time (duh!) we can submit them on flash drives. I copied mine to a flash drive anyway, because I can foresee that he won't want to download photo by photo for each of 20 students in 2 sections of the class!
Our houseguest and DH are still here - he's packing. They plan to go into Anchorage when he's done and do a little more shopping and sightseeing, and then he leaves sometime after midnight, so DH will drop him at the airport whenever and be home sometime. I'm happy to have just 2 of us in the house again, even though as guests go, he was pretty easy.
Here is a tip on security. Keep your car keys on your bedside table, and if it sounds like someone is trying to break in, press the Panic button. The noise and flashing lights of the car helps get attention and may frighten the intruder, giving you time to dial 911.
That is such a good idea! Except my car doesn't have an alarm. But it made me start thinking about noise, so I borrowed one of those air horns from a boat to keep by my bed (noisemaker = coast guard boat requirement). You know, the ones that they have at sports games? I've also shoved a chair under my front door, built pyramids of glass and tin cans in front of the doors so they will make noise and alert me if anyone opens the doors, and have wedged PVC lengths in my living room windows so they won't slide open since the locks don't work on them. Oh yeah, maybe I should get BF to fix that anyway. This man struck again Monday night, still two towns over, but I didn't get much sleep last night. I hope BF comes home soon.
Allison, I'm so glad everything came back normal, but I can imagine how stressful it must have been. Glad everything's ok now.
Pat, it does sound like flash drives would be much faster. Enjoy having DH and the house to yourself again.
Shannon, I'm glad you feel better after your veggie-licious lunch.
Jessica, hopefully many people will submit complaints and the street dept. will change the light schedule soon! My sis & I can live in the same house, but definitely not in the same room. I'm pretty neat and she is rather sloppy, at least, in my opinion, but other than that she's a great person! Good things her DH is equal to her on the clean/sloppy scale.
Michele, sorry your DDs don't get along too well, but maybe when they get older they can be friends. My sis & I went through a rough patch when we were teenagers but we got over it.
Out on the boat today and it was so bumpy I actually felt seasick, which is very rare for me. We've got to get our project done so we're trying again tomorrow but I'm hoping I don't feel so bad again (or really, hoping the weather is better). Have a good Wednesday night, or Thursday, everyone.
They did fix the light, which is a big relief. I think they had the timing reversed. The intersection isn't even really an intersection -- it's the entrance to Dow Agrosciences and it's been hard for people to make left turns out of their complex, so they put the light in. Well, instead of leaving it with a couple minutes of green on the major street and only a few seconds of green for people coming out of Dow, they reversed it, which caused a huge backup. Much better now that they've fixed it! Now if they could just finish the road construction they've been doing for two years...
Megan~we use PVC pipe in our sliding glass doors as a precaution in case the locks fail or to allow the door to be open a couple of inches for fresh air and we know no one can get in.
Another strange dream last night. We needed to get one of our employees microchipped so he could race cars for us (as opposed to racing the boat) but we couldn't find anyone to do the microchipping because our application was torn. I told my husband the story and he wondered where it all came from. I wonder as well!
Glad they got the light fixed Jessica. We had another light that was weird--like the one you described, this one was placed at the entrance to a new air museum on a major thoroughfare and you'd think that it would be activated by sensors, but instead they put it on a timer. So infuriating to be driving along in the middle of the night when no one is at the museum and have to sit and wait for non-existent cars to exit their parking lot. We think that the owner of the museum paid for it to be done that way so people would stop and look at the museum and then decide to visit it. It took about 6 months for that to be fixed.
No junk so far today... protein & fruit smoothie for breakfast, drinking some coffee now. The rest of yesterday stayed on track after the rocky start. Looking to keep to good food today, planning a run after work.
Allison - weird dream! I wonder why your subconscious said that your EE needed a microchip to race. Hrm.
Jessica - glad that they got your light resolved.
Megan - I hope BF gets home soon, you need to get some rest!
So 20 year class reunion on Saturday. I have two dresses I'm flipping between. This is the front runner. Ignore the bad hair, I was trying on before bath.
Shannon, both dresses are hot! I agree with Allison, show of your body with the tight fitted dress at the reunion and go for the flowy one for the wedding. I'm laughing that you got it from Frederick's because I was thinking, "There's so much cleaveage it must be from Victoria's Secret or something..."
