Midwife - here are the directions on E-How. I didn't get there exactly the same way as she did, but I like her way too. I move from a seated frog (looks like a frog - feet hip width, toes out, hips sinking down towards heel, back straight, hands at heart center, elbows pushing knees out), to a bound seated frog (lift hips slightly, circle right arm under right leg, lift left arm high, reach around the back to link fingers, keep hips sinking low), move the left foot to center of mat and stand up on left leg with back straight, extend foot and straighten leg. The 'extend foot and straighten leg' is where I have trouble.

Becky, Shannon, Midwife, Silver... WOW We are a bunch of tough chickies! AMAZING accomplishments... simply amazing! Shannon, that pose looks RIDICULOUS! I'm impressed that you're working toward that!
I ran a 5k route in my hilly neighborhood and finished in 34 minutes... quite an accomplishment for decent elevation gain along the way.

Yah, right Even if I could get to that point, I would lose it completely as the "move the left foot to center of mat and stand up on left leg with back straight."
Great thread! Congrats to everyone on your accomplishments. My accomplishment has been running. I started a little less than a year ago when I had to run through the rain at my daughter's HS graduation. I had been working out in the gym almost everyday for the last past three years and was amazed how good it felt. So started walk-running on the treadmill and am now logging about 22 miles a week. I did my first 10K two Saturday's ago in a little less than 60 minutes. It was the most fun I have ever had!!!
I ran for 3 miles straight on Saturday for the first time since herniating my disk 7 weeks ago.
My left leg has atrophied from nerve issues and is an inch smaller around than the right one, so the weakness made it difficult to run (even though I could bike and do modified lifting). I was so happy to actually make 3 miles again.
Bringing this thread back from the dead, I completed my third triathlon Saturday! I just realized I forgot to post the distances in my other threads on it, but it was a 500 meter swim, 10 mile bike ride, and 5k run.
Total time 1:48:19 (546/560, 27/28 age group)
Swim: 18:09
T1: 3:18
Bike: 45:17
T2: 1:49
Run: 39:45
Accomplishments:
- 10 hilly miles on the bike in 45 minutes
- I did not walk at all on the run. (I walked in both tri's I did last year.)
- Swam in deep open water without either stopping to tread water or switching to breaststroke.
- Not last in my age group!
Thanks Meg! I'm doing another one in two weeks actually, which has a slightly longer bike ride but is on a flatter course. I'll be back with another race report after that one!
