S/C/G: Lost 50 lbs, regained some

Height: 5'3"

Default Well, the experiment is declared over

And the reason is that I couldn't stay with the plan.

My plan was a target range of 1500-1600 calories average per day, and I kept drifting upward. And, in the last month, I failed to stay even within the 1600s because of a bad last two weeks.

Therefore, the conditions of the experiment were not met, so I can't say whether it was successful or not!

The fact is (I almost typo'ed that "the fat is" ) I am not maintaining my weight. I'm gaining. So it's time for me to stop thinking of maintenance and start thinking of weight loss.

I'm glad that I was able to maintain my weight for over two years after my initial low weight in 2007. And now, it's time to get back to that. Once I get down again, I'll restart my experiment and see how it goes...

And that's the last report on the experiment for now.

Jay

Jay:
Thank you so much for your honesty and sharing your experiment.
The math doesn't alway workout in my favor in this weight control study call life either. I personally give you applause for trying a new approach. Bravo for taking postive steps forward. I personally feel that you succeeded and the weight loss gentics are to blame.
Take care,

Jay, thanks for the update! I really appreciate how your posts are always so full of humor. Good luck with the loss (feel free to join us on the Operation 5-10 thread) and let us know if you decide to experiment again!

I'm glad that you *caught* this early on in your experiment and were able to recognize that it's not working to your liking.

Keep on keeping on and searching and delving for YOUR right *formula*. Luckily we get as many shots at this as need be.

Bravo for you for trying and monitoring closely your results. You now have more knowledge about your body to make wiser decisions moving forward. And to me, that is the most important thing.

Jay! Wow. What a feat. Two years! and Wow! Now you know what the score is and now you are going to settle it. This is awesome for you. Congratulations on arriving at such a wonderful place--knowing your body, knowing how to do it and when to do it. I am aiming for the same place.

Jay experiment, shmeriment. You are still in maintenance. You noticed a drift. Now you will do something about it. Isn't that maintenance?

Well, nothing ventured nothing gained...well, you know what I mean.

Okay, you need to take the plunge...bring out the ticker and update those sidebar stats. Let's get your ball rolling on a fresh slope.

Jay, I think that there is something to be learned from every experiment/experience. You are going to take the knowledge you have learned, in both losing and maintaining (for 2 YEARS! WTG!), to kick those drifting lbs to the curb. You have been successful in the past and will be successful in the future.

Jay - I'm sorry you've had a bad two weeks and hope things are better now. Once you get back to where you want to be you may find that your experiment works again!

You have done a great job in the last two years. I have learned a lot from reading about your journey.

Jay - as you know after 2 years, drifts happen. Sorry you weren't able to really get a good feel for the experiment!
