  • ICU, you'll have to let me know where you're swimming so I can come see you!
  • Quote:
Silver, I'm laughing about the goldfish and string cheese. I bet you have all sorts of common foods in the UK that we would be like if we heard of them!
Jessica, ask Silver what a flapjack is - you'll be totally surprised!
  • Wardhog - we'll be at Georgia Tech on May 20-23, in the same pool that hosted the 1996 Olympics. Woohoo! I'll probably only swim on the 22nd and 23rd ... but would love to meet you if we get a chance!
  • Cool - my alma mater. I'll put a note in my calendar and get in touch when it gets closer.
  • I am exhausted this morning! Not sure why, I slept from 9:30 to 7:00. Maybe I've been getting too much sleep?

Last night at swim class I discovered that I have been doing breast stroke completely wrong! Oops. In any case I feel like I'm improving a lot thanks to this class. Making progress toward cutting down my swim time for this season's triathlons! However, biking and running have fallen by the wayside due to bad weather. Oops.
  • found myself with (I know, I chose..) a bagel before dinner and a huge bowl of cereal right before bed yesterday. after a splurge brunch on MLK day at a friends where I picked on muffins and this amazing candied pecan french toast thing. the fritatta was a bit yuck in comparison...
so today I see 128.5--- wrong direction...
exercise ok, need some squeaky clean calorie controlled eating to make the difference here!

    where you all at???

Sometimes I am pms, overexercising or getting sick when I feel this way.
    WTG on swim improvement
  • Thanks Kitty! I think the sleep might be from my body trying to fight off a cold. I'm not sick - yet - but I think my immune system is waging war against some intruder!

My weight is fluctuating again. I don't know why but I'm trying not to let it bother me. It's been hovering around 140 the past couple days, but OTOH I ate a lot of salt and I have sore muscles. I'll be happy if I see 138 again for my official weigh-in on Saturday. No idea how swim class will be tonight since I'm super-sore from strength training yesterday!
  • My weight remains unchanged. Day 4 of this cold, and I am feeling better. I'm only partially stuffed up (no meds today as I didn't feel the need). Still not back to exercising, but will try to double up this weekend so I don't fall too far behind.

It's sunny here today but they're saying the rain will return this afternoon/evening. So far 1.5 inches with the first two storms. Two more to go to get us our yearly allotment of 4 inches! Too bad DD may have to drive back to school in the rain (I hope not!).
  • Hi all, I have been absent due to busy-ness, but I've been POP all week! Got myself back on a better sleep schedule, thank goodness, so I've been able to consistently go to the gym early in the morning. Last week not getting my first "real" workout in until Thursday was just killing me. I must be an exercise-endorphin junkie. I've finally got the food on track. Man it's hard to get back on track after the holidays.

Jessica, all the strength training and NRLW you've been doing has really paid off! Way to get your measurements down! (Way more important than the # on the scale, in my book.) Maybe you're tired from swim class?

Kitty, it's ok, you can make better choices today!

ICU, congrats on lowering your ticker!

    Keep it up everyone!
  • Count me in as another one fighting germs. It's been hard to get into the swing of things this week. Yesterday was POP though! Wooooo! Kinda sad, huh?
  • Hey guys, I could use some immediate advice (maybe I will post this on the chat thread too since more people use it). I'm super-sore from NRLW on Tuesday. Usually I do my second NRLW workout Thursday. I'm a little scared of trying to do a workout that involves two sets of 15-20 squats when I can barely sit down since I'm so sore. Do I go ahead and attempt it anyway (and plan on using little to no weight), or do I plan to do it this weekend instead when I'll be a bit less sore?

Edit - I should add that I usually go to do this workout at 11:30, which is in 25 minutes! Thus the request for immediate advice...
  • I would probably give it a shot, Jessica. Especially with little or no added weight. It might get your blood flowing and help with the soreness.....keep in mind that this is what I would do and may or may not actually be the correct thing to do!
  • Me, I'd postpone it BUT I am decades older than you and am not bouncing back so well at present.

Go, give it a shot. You can always bail out. Progress not Perfection.
  • Okay, thanks guys, I'm off. If my legs fall off I'll blame you!
