Woohoo, it was the sodium! I dropped two pounds overnight. Something to think about next time I decide to do a recipe that has soy sauce, oyster sauce, AND hoisin sauce. In any case now I'm back on track for at least maintaining if not losing this week.

Midwife, there is something about muffins that makes them absolutely irresistible. Chocolate muffins always look really good to me but rarely taste as good as I thought they would.

Midwife, who in your house is attached to goldfish?
Jessica, I agree with the choc muffin analysis
Allison, writing and keeping accountable here too- recent change for me
Megan, when does the play start?
Silver, where aare you???

Weight today 126.5, back down to a moderate comfort zone. When I first lost I wanted my range anything under 124. That's more my goal than my range since this summer.

Let's keep on keepin' on!

POP, man!!!

Goldfish! My nemesis! We buy the big huge carton for lunches. And for me to inhale when I'm super hungry after work. I need a strict no goldfish policy....

Woohoo on the woosh, Jessica!

So tonight I made up lasagna for tomorrow night, another step in the effort to get DSS to eat. Something, anything. Even cheesy, carby lasagna. (His pan is meat free, we figure that might be too big a step too fast...) So, on the pan for myself and DH I cut the recipes down nicely, works out to about 300 cals a serving, for a pretty large serving. I'm okay with that. What I am not okay with - I love love love snacking on plain lasagna noodles. A serious flash back to my past life, 1.5 servings of plain noodles later. Threw the rest out as soon as I realized clearly what was happening. Easily my worst 'past life' experience yet.

Jessica!

You caught yourself and stopped! Good job!!

I find that my homemade lasagnas end up with lots of veggies and ground turkey and not many noodles at all these days. One of these days I'll change to zucchini ribbons altogether vs. noodles---although that's probably a bit radical for the little guy. It's hard to meet the needs of each person in the family and you're doing great!

I make my lasgne without cooking the noodles first (I assume you weren't snacking on the hard, raw noodles ). The regular ones work just fine this way, you don't need the "no boil" ones.

Thanks for the noodle support!

Midwife - I was thinking I would throw some veggies in on myself & DH's if I do this again. Zucchini, pepper & onion were the only ones that came to mind. Any other suggestions?

Pat - Nope, not the crunchy ones. Though I did used to dip dry spaghetti in a little water, salt it and snack on it as a child... Got that from my grandmother. The things we pass down... I got the no-boil noddles for the pan for myself & DH last night, but the regular ones will work, too? Do you just use more sauce and cook a little longer to make them soft? That seemed to be the big difference between the recipe on the boil v. no-boil noodle boxes.

Checking in. I have now arrived at the weight shown in the ticker. A milestone. And the DB who's 9 remarked how fit I looked this morning. Excellent.

I cracked and looked up 'goldfish crackers' on Wikipedia. Ah. (Last week I looked up 'string cheese'. Also ah in my book but I know that people differ.)

Keep on going, everyone. It's a mild, spring-like day here. Spring in Northern Hemisphere will be upon us before we know and we'll be exposing more flesh than I, for one, am doing at present.

Regarding the lasagna noodles, I use the regular ones. I just pour 1.25 to 1.5 cups of water around the edge of the pan and bake.

Looking POP so far today. My face is definitely smaller (or something). My skin is lovely.

I'm reading The Beck Diet Solution: Train Your Brain to Think Like a Thin Person. 'Always eat sitting down' is such a powerful tool and I can be extremely compliant when I see the benefit. I've been compliant for at least a week now.

Where are you all, you svelte people? Posing about in your tiny jeans? Undertaking death-defying exercises? See how I imagine you!

Sick today as DS gave me his cold. It's a sinus nightmare at the moment and I wasn't able to do my workout this morning due to the intense headache. I'll try to muddle through the day at work.

One would think that due to the intense sweating during the night I would have expelled a little water weight (my fingers were pruny when I woke up!), but no, I actually gained a pound. I guess getting up to refill my water glass was the reason, but I needed the water.

My favorite lasagna recipe is the one on the back of the Barilla no-boil noodle box. So bad, yet so good. I need to figure out how much I can cut down the cheese in it. I've thought about trying those lasagnas that don't actually have noodles, but I'm afraid it would end up being basically "vegetable casserole that is italian style" rather than lasagna. Whoever said spaghetti squash is a substitute for spaghetti is dead wrong in my book! DH and I were like, no, it's squash that is shaped slightly like spaghetti, but it tastes nothing like pasta!

Allison, I hope you feel better soon!

Silver, I'm laughing about the goldfish and string cheese. I bet you have all sorts of common foods in the UK that we would be like if we heard of them!

Slowly but surely, I am making progress. Official weigh-in on Saturday was 138.6, even though today I'm back at 140.2 with water weight.

I bought a measuring tape and took my measurements for the first time in years yesterday. I pulled up my old measurements spreadsheet to compare, and it turns out right now I am almost exactly the same size I was when I weighed 133 when I was losing. Based on that, and the fact that my skinny skirt was too loose the other day, I have made the official decision to change my goal weight to 135 and my red line to 140. I've put on enough muscle that I think at 135 I will be the same size I was at 128-130 before. I could probably go lower but I really don't want to buy myself a whole new wardrobe! I'm happy with size 6, and I think at 135 I will be comfortably in a 6 (right now I'm still teetering on the edge of 8).

To be honest I'm also getting sick of all the restriction and counting necessary to lose. That's not to say once I get to 135 it will be a free-for-all, but I'd like to be able to pour out a glass of milk with breakfast without having to do it on my kitchen scale, or to add a handful of raisins to my oatmeal without having to measure out 20g.

Sorry about being AWOL! I usually check in during work hours, but I've just been crazy busy dealing with some new responsibilities. Rare opportunity to make a positive, financially-measurable improvement, so I've been all over it. Working from home today despite the holiday and realized how long it's been since I posted - yikes! And it hasn't just been work - we're moving DS10 to a private school next week, so there were tours, testing, interviews, etc ... on top of his crazy schedule of swimming, piano, and choir. Phew!

I've seen a new lower number on the scale 5 times now, so it's mine. I changed my ticker for the first time in a long while - I forgot how nice that feels!

My GF and I are making some preliminary plans for Atlanta in May. I won't swim all 4 days, but at least we're getting some ideas out there. I'm inching closer to some qualifying cut times, so it's time to get serious. When DS10 starts at the new school, it opens up an opportunity for me to get heavy yardage in (at 5am - ) and make it back in time. It's not easy to find a competition pool open at 5am!

Oh well. Some things get harder, and some things get easier!
