Welcome toaster!
Jump right in!!

I did sleep better though my ear still hurts. My weight is up today and I know it is because I ate too much due to being tired and not working out. I felt I "deserved" a latte yesterday after my doctor's appointment-- grumble....

We have a staff party after school today and I'll try to stay strong and not eat anything bad. Hopefully will go to the gym tonight as well. Haven't been since Monday which makes me feel out of sorts....

Welcome toaster.

Michele, glad your ear is feeling a little better and you got a little more sleep.

Last night when I was taking my huge handful of pills, I accidentally took a whole water pill instead of a half. I must have been retaining a ton of water cause I was up and down all night. This morning I feel much thinner and it was tempting to weigh myself, but I decided not to. My weigh-in is on Saturday and I'm sure today would have given me a false low.

My 30 year high-school reunion is a week from Saturday. Haven't decided yet what to wear. I may end up buying a new outfit to wear. Many of the people I haven't seen since we graduated. I'm nervous and curious to see everyone again. I'm still afraid people may think I'm fat. I know that is crazy to think this way. I'm currently 13 lbs. heavier than I was in high school.

My DD, Lacy, is doing really well at sticking OP and losing weight. Shelbey has done well too (except for her slip yesterday eating Mexican food and Dip-n-dots ice cream). Lacy's clothes are bagging off of her, but she doesn't want to buy new ones yet!

Lily, no doubt you will be one of the slimmest women there! Believe me, there won't be too many who are only a few pounds over their HS weights! I say go buy a new outfit that makes you feel fantastic and confident. And hold your head up high because you're beautiful and you've accomplished so much with your life.

Congrats to Shelbey and Lacey! You've been a wonderful role model for them.

Good morning everyone!

Last night was my DS's 8th grade promotion. It was held at the high school he'll attend next year--out on the football field. The bleachers sure were uncomfortable for that 2 hours! But the weather was phenomenal! Generally in mid-June we'd be seeing temps of about 110 at 7 PM, but we've had extremely "ccol" weather this month--not one day at 100 or higher, and most days are topping out at 89. I actually got a tad bit chilled when the sun went down (yes, I'm a desert rat!).

Today DS and DD are coming to the office and we'll all go out to lunch at a new Italian place we've never been to. And we might be having friends over for dinner tonight--I'll have to watch what I eat!

Tomorrow DD and I are driving to Scottsdale to visit a friend and have a girl's weekend. We're going to go for massages at the spa and then my friend is going to give me a lesson in Sushi--I've never tried sushi and I want to try it to see if I like it or not. Most people who try it say it is really good, but I'm such a noob that I want an experienced sushi eater to show me the ropes! So you won't hear from me until late Monday.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Welcome toaster!

And Michele, I've seen it posted around here somewhere that a WW point is roughly 50 calories.

Meg, thanks so much. I think I will go shopping for a new outfit.

Allison, I have never tried sushi. I've always been afraid to try it even though many people tell me they love it.

I'll let you all know how it goes next week! LOL Funny thing? My DD dislikes fish with a passion yet is willing to try it with me.

Welcome toaster!!

I love sushi! I like a lot of the fusion-style ones that chefs come up with as well as the traditional kind. I also like the spicy ones -- spicy salmon is one of my faves. Eel (unagi) is good too.

Lily, I'm sure you will be one of the skinniest people at your HS reunion!

My dog kept me up half the night because of thunderstorms. He gets scared when there's thunder and lightning, gets out of his bed, comes around to my side of the bed, then sits there with his face right on the edge of the bed and whines until I wake up to pet him and comfort him. I was like, why don't you go bother your dad sometimes instead?? He also tries to hide in the corners and behind furniture in big storms. The other day I found him behind the nightstand in the bedroom.

We finally caved and turned on our A/C a couple days ago. It's cool out today, but it's raining, so we can't open the windows (at least, not without getting the carpet soaked). It was pretty funny -- we were so used to it being so hot in the house that when I turned it on for the first time, set to 78 degrees, we were cold!

Hi everyone,

I woke up and the temperature was once again predicted to be a high of 95, and the humidity was already 94% at 7 AM. I forget every year just how hot & humid summer is in Florida, and then when June comes I go through a month of being super cranky while I adjust. It could be worse - inland it's even hotter and just as humid. Last night my bed time was 9:30. I think that's my summer bedtime this year. Whine whine whine.

My garden is still producing copious amounts of cucumbers, a few tomatoes have ripened, eggplant productions continues, and the bell peppers are green and a few are starting to show signs of ripening to red and yellow. Also a co-worker brought in some extra scallop squash (patty pan squash) today. The grocery store has fresh (local) berries, (CA) cherries, and (local) corn, oh my! Hooray for summer produce! How is everyone else's gardens doing?

I LOVE sushi! Sometimes my friends and I have girls night and make our own, since we have no sushi restaurants here. I love the spicy stuff too, Jessica. When we're making it I at least make my spicy sauce with lowfat mayo. No one notices, I'm sneaky. Mmm, sushi... I hope you enjoy it Allison!

Lily, you should definitely buy yourself a new outfit! You are one hot woman, show it off! Glad to hear that Lacy & Shelbey are doing well with their weight loss plans. Meg is right, you're a wonderful role model for them.

Michele, I hope your ear continues to feel better. Ear infections stink.

Welcome toaster! glad you've joined us!

Have a great Thursday all. Stay cool!

I think it's funny that, at least on my screen, all of my dancing veggies & fruits are off-beat from each other. I must be easily amused.

Oh, Jessica! My Buddy dog hates thunderstorms as well! He never whines, but having a 80 pound dog panting uncontrollably (along with uncontrolled shaking and drooling) is no fun! He's so bad that ANY rain--whether it has thunder with it or not--is enough to throw him into a tizzy. Fireworks are the same. Thankfully with his old age he rarely hears any of it any longer! But if he knows it's raining, he'll get upset. Usually when we know it will rain we usher him into one of the kid's rooms and turn up the stereo and shut the doors so he can't smell the rain!

Everyone seems to agree that eel sushi is good, so I'll plan on trying that one. And yes, spicy is good!

Megan - on my screen the broccoli & banana are in sync, but the carrot is a little off beat. Funny.

Allison - I like sushi, too. The spicier the better. Salmon is good, I haven't had eel but my best friend and his partner love it.

Lily - you are going to look fab at your reunion! You totally need a great outfit to wear!

Michele - I feel you on the 'deserved' item. I didn't feel good yesterday so felt like I 'deserved' a portion of french baguette as my side with my soup for lunch. Blah.

Jessica - we had a dog when I was a kid that was afraid of storms. She always climbed in the bed with me or my brother when it started to thunder. Poor little guy!

My AC is fixed! Woo hoo! It was a little low on refrigerant and the filters we were using were restricting the airflow - those two things together were making it freeze up. I'm feeling pretty congested today and finally starting to cough up some of the junk I can feel in the back of my throat. Trying to decide if I'm going to do some running on the treadmill in a minute or take a power nap...

Good day everyone!

I haven't had too many kinds of sushi but I do like it. Hope you enjoy it. And enjoy your girls' weekend-- I am very jealous!!

I wish it was hotter here. It doesn't feel like June or the last day of school today. It is windy, in the high 50s or low 60s and feels and looks like rain. I know I'll warm up when I go to Houston in a few weeks but right now I'm in multiple layers and hating it!

I agree Lily-- go buy yourself a new outfit!! I was much heavier than I am now at my 20th high school reunion and I was still one of the thinnest ones there. You go girl!

Megan-- I love patty pan squash. Dh and I went to a new (to us) farmer's market last night that I heard several people raving about. It is more of a store than a market but everything is CHEAP and looks great! We got several bags worth of fresh produce for $14!! We will be cooking and eating lots of fresh produce in the next few days-- including patty pan squash. They had 3 pound bags of either cauliflower or broccoli heads for $1.50 each. We passed on those because my dh is going out of town in a few days and we wouldn't have time to eat them but I'm thinking of making soup if it doesn't warm up soon. The only thing they didn't have cheaply that I wanted was berries-- they were still 2.50 for a little punnet of blueberries or raspberries so I'll have to get some elsewhere. I think I found a new weekly spot to go to and it is open 7 days a week-- hooray!

School will be out in 30 minutes-- can't wait. I still work the rest of the day today, tomorrow, and all of next week, but it will be peaceful and quiet without the students. I'm hoping dd can pull up some of her grades with her finals (my 9th grader).... we'll see..... we had bribed her with a new cell phone if she got at least a 3.5 GPA but I don't think she will make it as she struggled in her geometry and advanced english class.

Enjoy your day today everyone!

Ha Michele - I pay $4 or more for those puny little things of berries. I can't wait til my strawberries and raspberries are ripe.

We have cloudy windy weather today, plus smoke from a forest fire further north. It's not cold, but certainly feels cooler after several hot days.

Quiet day at work as there are carnival rides being set up in our parking lot. This weekend is our city's summer festival Colony Days - lots of small town type activities including a parade, a car show, antique tractor display, expanded farmers' market (all weekend, with more booths, rather than just Friday with selected booths), etc. The library is closed Friday and Sat. With the carnival we have no parking, and not many people will come in, and frankly we don't want our lobby/restrooms open to the public. They'd trash the bathroom - which I know from previous experience.

My DH is leaving tomorrow morning to go fishing, and won't be back til late Sat or early Sun. My weekend is the usual laundry, grocery, exercise, yard work... And then I'll hopefully be freezing fish when he gets home. (Nice fresh wild Alaska salmon )

ETA: I'm new to sushi, but I was with a group of sushi eaters at my conference in Kodiak in March, and they introduced me to a lot - and I liked it all! Esp good was a black cod marinated in hmmm? mirin? sake? one or the other.
