My NSV - it's more like a feeling. The summer. I used to loathe and DREAD the summer. Not really the best time of year for a 287 lb 5 foot nothing female. Oh the horrors - all that outdoorsy - physical activity. Oh and the heat. Sweat. Sweat. And more sweat. ALways red faced. And the clothing issues. And the not putting on a bathing suit issue. Issues. Just lots of summer related - issues.

But not anymore!!!!

Nothing to dread/loathe anymore. I LOVE the summer. I feel so regular and normal and average and not stand-out-ish. I love being outdoors. And all of those summer related issues - gone.

Went to the beach this past weekend. What a delight.

Wore cute adorable sandals and clothing. Went shopping and bought MORE cute adorable sandals and clothing.

The summer is no longer a nightmare for me, but a dream. A pure dream. One that I never want to wake up from. I feel like I won the lottery - only better.

My NSV - walking a full marathon in less than 24 hours for Relay for Life. I carried our team, for sure, walking more than a third of the 24 hour period, and even though my feet were a little sore, I KNOW I wouldn't have been able to do this even halfway through my journey. What a serious improvement in physical fitness (and it was for charity, too!)

Also? I bought a long, sheath-like black dress with a plunging neckline that I NEVER would have had the confidence to pull off (or the SHOULDERS to pull off) before. Can't wait to find lots of excuses to wear it.

My NSV for the week - I cut the grass on Sunday night, and it was so much easier this time than it was last summer when I first started exercising. I didn't finish feeling like someone had beaten on me with something heavy, and I did it faster than I was able to last year.

I just ordered a two piece bathing suit. First one I've ever ordered. We'll see if that is an NSV when I get it in, or if I panic and send it back. ;)

I think it being a Thursday night is excuse enough to look hot! I bet you rock that dress!

My NSV is that we had our family pictures taken last night and I felt really good about them.

Midwife - that's always nice...not cringing at every photo in the roll.

I -may- have worn the dress to do dishes last night. Just, you know, making sure it fit OK...

Amanda  GOod for you!

:) I say wear it anywhere you want to wear it! Make your own dressy occasion!

My two bathing suits that I ordered came in and I love them! They both fit, and I think they look really great! Woo hoo! And, DH was pretty impressed by me in them as well...

Oh my, reminds me I must try mine on before I leave for my cruise on the 26th - haven't put it on since last December's swimming lessons.

I really like this thread...

Twice in the last month while I was out running I saw friends in their cars who I haven't seen in a while. They were at a stoplight honking their horns to get my attention. I waved at them as they waved back & the surprised looks on their face said it all - the last time they saw me I was 30+ lbs overweight.

Funny thing, back then one of those friends told me (as if it were a "fact"): "Once you become a mom you'll never get your old body back". She's right...my body is more fit now that it was before I got pregnant =)

Don't know why I didn't see this thread before-- love it!!

I can think of many but a recent one was a couple of weeks ago at my high school daughter's choir concert. One of her friends saw me (never seen me before) and told my daughter that I looked pretty and young! She is my new best friend!! Don't think she would have said that about the "old" me.

I can so relate to your feelings about summer, Robin. It gets really hot here in the summer and I used to suffer from it. I just hated it! Ditto to everything you mentioned!
I was so cold this last winter that the heat actually feels kind of good. That is so strange. We went into a Starbucks last weekend and were having coffee and I got painfully cold. I had to go walk around the parking lot to warm up while the husband finished his coffee. It is such a relief to not dread going outside when it's hot, and even weirder that it feels good!

Oh yes, I knew many of you would relate to this post.

And as far as the cold goes, even in the summer I need to walk around with a sweater. Unless it's wicked hot out, then I am cold - and going indoors - with air conditioning - yup, I must ALWAYS bring a sweater with me. I have an extensive collection of sweaters for this very reason. I too get painfully, unbearably, miserably cold. It comes with the territory. A small price to pay though. :D

Oh, I almost forgot my NSV - bones. And pain.

I was washing the dishes the other day in just a very light t-shirt, and I kept hitting my hip, pelvic bones against the counter - and it hurt. And I LOVED it. :D

I can't help myself. It's another summer related NSV. DH and I had two of our very good friends over for the weekend. Friday night till just a couple of hours ago (Sunday early evening). We had such a nice time. I cooked a fabulous totally healthy delicious meal for them Friday night. They were MUCHO impressed. Enjoyed it thoroughly. My friend walked out with a bunch of recipes. Saturday I served some more great healthy meals and snacks. Now on Sunday - we went to the beach. Oh how glorious. The weather was stupendous. I packed a ton of healthy foods. Homemade pita chips with mango peach salsa. Frozen yogurt. Sugar Snap peas. Baby carrots. Cantaloupe, honeydew, cherries and grapes. My friend (the male) said it was a vegetable/fruit-a-thon. It was nice. But I again was overwhelmed by the fact that I was ON the beach. We walked and walked along by the edge of the water. We then went out for an early supper. I had a great mushroom/spinach/onion egg white omlette with a sweet potato. We then did a little shopping, which I'm always up for. Bought myself a beautiful little shirt. It was just an amazing day/weekend. One that never, ever would have occurred prior to my weight loss.

Now that I am just another "average" woman, I am having an extraordinary good time. Or maybe it's just really an "average" time, but for ME it seems "extraordinary". :)
