some thought inspiring words...

  • I have a co-worker whom I know for about 15 years. She has seen me thin, pregnant, thinish, pregnant, thinish again , pregnant and then stuck at fat for 2.5 years.

One day, back when I was a lurker on 3fc she and I were talking about weight and how managing it can be difficult. In a moment of frustration I shared that I was really stumped and could not hold on to a healthy eating plan. She told me to go find some mommy group, that I could do it. I realized I had already found my group at 3fc.

Fast forward to now. Today (and about 2-3x/month) she tells me how terrific I look and yes! you did it! Today I replied.."now, it's about keeping it off." She agreed that that was indeed a challenge and shared what her pastor says:

"Obtaining is the easy part, it is maintaining that is difficult."

This strikes me as true in just about all aspects of life. Whether it is goal weight, financial gain, healthy relationships, faith, belief systems.

  • healthy habits vs unhealthy
So true! All that enthusiasm that we have at the beginning of every project tends to wane over time, particularly if we just can't seem to get exactly to whatever goal we've set.

Healthyhabits can be hard to maintain. They take work and concentration. Most unhealthy habits are easy to lapse into.

Good thing we have 3FC to help with the motivation for the healthy and kick butt about not resuming the unhealthy.
