  • thanks, but I'm sure the pound is back by now! lol. I'm not worried, I have accepted I can't maintain less than 105. like I was saying before, scales are pesky little nippers sometimes...
  • Hi everyone,

DH is out of town and I'm on full time single mom duty until Friday. My eating is all over the place, one day just an enormous amount of food and the next, I have to work to get in the ballpark of something healthy. Time is passing quickly though; I'm still feeling sort of in denial emotionally about the pregnancy for the time being, after last time. Then again, it feels like a totally different pregnancy, and I'm a little tired and usually hungry, but I don't feel like a basket case or like I am a walking zombie. Who knew?

DD moved up to the older 1s at day care, and no longer gets to drink her milk from a sippy cup, having to use an actual cup. Let's just say this is traumatic for her. I have never seen a tantrum go on for so long. We also have a 3 day weekend coming, so the great potty-training experiment is also on.

    Anne
  • Anne, glad to hear that your pregnancy is going well and you don't feel as tired as before. Your DD sounds like she is doing great already moving to a regular cup and soon to start potty training. I had my GS on Sunday, (he turned 3 in March) and he still uses a sippy cup and still wearing a diaper. It's to the point that it's almost embarassing because people always ask how old he is and why isn't he potty trained. I really wish when I had worked with him so hard on the potty training that Samantha's
MIL who he is living with had followed through. He was doing great for me, and Now it's like he's never used the potty.

My 22 yr. old SD should be having her first baby tomorrow. Her due date was today and they are inducing her tomorrow. This will be our first granddaughter. We're going up to the hospital after DH gets off work tomorrow. The Dr. has warned her that the baby weighs "over 10 Lbs." and they will let her have a trial labor and she very well may need a cesarean.

My 24 yr. old SD that is pregnant with our 3rd grandson is due early July, but she is already starting to dilate and has went in once with contractions already and they said, next time this happens they won't try to stop the contractions. So, it's been kind of a race to see which one delivers first.

I've certainly been getting in enough exercise with all the yard work. So far, the scale is only down 1 lb. I'm still trying to get back to my ticker weight. My eating has been decent and I don't know why I can't lose a few lbs. I've been working outside 3-5 hrs. a day in this heat. We're putting a 6 inch wall of concrete around the bottom of our fence so the dogs can't dig out anymore. I've been the one digging the trench, laying the boards and such. I did try pouring one section of concrete yesterday but mine didn't look as good as what DH had done. Plus, those 80 lb. bags of concrete really had my back hurting. So, I'll stick to the digging. We're now finished with one of the 4 sides, so lots more work to do every day until it's done. Even though the scale isn't down, I do notice my clothes are looser and my tummy looks and feels flatter.
  • Anne, good luck with the pregnancy!

Lily, even if you aren't losing lbs I bet you are building some nice muscles with all the yardwork.

I'm off to see the rheumatologist in half an hour. I sure hope I can get through this appointment without crying. I get really upset about my wrist problem since I am so afraid of never being able to have a normal life again. Plus I am falling way behind on wedding planning. Four months out and we still don't have a caterer. We need to get moving on invitations and menswear. My mom offered to help but there is nothing to be done that doesn't require my presense or opinion.

Oh! I don't know if I mentioned it or not, but my wedding dress came in and I got to try it on! Pictures are here, just click the "next" button until you get to the last one, I think there are seven pics.
  • Jessica, that dress is so beautiful and fits you perfectly. Congratulations.

I hope your appt. goes well with the Rheumatologist.
  • Beautiful dress! You look lovely in it!
  • Last night, I drove the 2 hours north to DH's apartment and was supposed to meet him in NYC for dinner and dancing. He ended up working until 8 pm so we didn't get to eat until 9 pm. By then I was really hungry and chose a burger and fries at the local pub we went to because I knew it be quick. Of course I ate everything on the plate.

Afterwards, we went to the market (my suggestion) to get cookies and I ended up binging and eating AT LEAST a dozen double stuffed Oreo's. I'm afraid to get back on the scale...

And, no exercise because we didn't go dancing because it was so late when we were done eating.

Jessica - the dress looks devine. Looks like it fits without alterations.
  • Carolyn~one evening of decadence won't disrupt your maintenance because you know you'll get right back on track! Sure, there might be a gain from the extra food, but it'll come back off quick enough.

Jessica~the dress is beautiful! When is the big day? And you're going to post pics of that, right?
  • Thanks everyone! Allison - the wedding is 10/6 and I will definitely post pics (after the honeymoon of course!).

Carolyn - like Allison said, one day of indulgence won't undo all the work you've done!

The appointment with the rheumatologist went well. He's giving me a new anti-inflammatory drug and doing a bazillion blood tests for various inflammatory conditions, so we'll see what (if anything) comes up. I guess my bone scan results were slightly abnormal but not enough to say for sure what's going on.

Plus, I am so excited because I got it cleared with my bosses to take an extra two days vacation July 2 and 3! I had been saving all my time up for the honeymoon but I really need a break soon and I am so glad they cleared it for me. Now my fiance just has to get his cleared too and we can have a relaxing 5-day weekend!
  • Jessica your dress is beautiful. Love the bodice detail: elegant without being over-fussy. And you have a great waist!
Allison, I was bad too yesterday. It's end of term here at Uni and there are parties with buffet-style food all over the place. I hate this: I need to plan in advance what I'm going to eat!! Well yesterday I ate my main at lunch time, not knowing the English students' Garden Party was going to be a full-blown picnic with everything. I tried not to overdo it too much but I'm not sure how well I succeeded. Of the bad food I know I ate one choc mini muffin, one choc bite, one choc rice crispie cake (spotting a theme here? lol) and also the drinks were not diet. ?!? That is such a waste of calories! Anyway the upshot was I felt sick so that taught me, I guess. Back on the wagon for us!
  • What was that program that was on before the repeat of Big Medicine last evening???? That doctor was sooo negative. The maintainers here should email TLC and tell them maintenance is not an extremely rare occurance! Yeesh!
  • Hey Jessica, I'm getting married in Aug. and I should be getting my dress in two weeks. (It took 6 mos. for it to come in so I am biting my nails) Its great to see yours fitting so nicely! I have been working with a trainer for many mos. and for the last week eating only fruit for dessert because dessert is an achilles heel for both me and my fiancee. I hope mine looks as well as yours did!
  • I also had a rough day for eating yesterday. I started with a PB and SF jelly sandwich on wheat. I worked outside all morning, clearing the fence line and digging the trench to lay concrete. I came inside at 2PM starving. I ordered a club sandwich and onion rings. I ate 1/2 of this and saved the other half for DH. I went back outside and worked til 5PM and then came in and put baked chicken in the oven. I asked DD to fix salad and veggies to go with the chicken while I went back outside with DH and worked some more (til 7PM). She called us in to dinner at 7 and she'd made Mac-n-cheese and green beans to go with the chicken. I was totally exhausted and just ate what she'd fixed. By 9:30PM , I went to the store to get DH a 6 pack and I was craving ice cream really bad. They didn't have any that was low-fat, so I picked up regular. I made myself a bowl of it that was at least 1 full cup, but by the time I'd eaten less than half of it, I didn't want anymore. I offered it to DH and DD and they didn't want it. So, I scraped it down the sink. This is the first time in my life that I remember scraping out ice cream, so that much was good.I know that I worked at least 8 hrs. or more in the yard. But, I still feel fat and bloated this morning from my food choices. I have truly got to get my eating back to it's normal level and right choices. I definitely had the "I deserve it" attitude and I need to just get over this. I'm trying to just get back to plan with eating today. I'm soon to be back outside working. We're about 1/3 of the way done with our big project. I guarantee that I thought digging a garden was hard work, but this is 10 x harder. If the fence line had been clear instead of covered with honeysuckle vines, it would have made it so much easier. The vines are coming over from the neighbors pasture that runs along side our fence. (They haven't brushhogged it in 4 yrs., so it looks like a jungle). It's impossible to clear the vines without standing in chest high weeds on their side of the fence. Plus they have a barb wire fence that is 6 inches from our fence which is all entangled in this mess. DH has cut his finger pretty bad on the barb wire. Luckily I haven't got hurt yet. Thankfully his tetanus shot is up to date. The roots from all this are so hard to dig up and clear that yesterday we broke a shovel, hedge clippers and axe trying to dig them up. It is really so unsigtly and such a fire hazard that I wish the city had made the owners of the outside land clean it up. But, ah, in the country, they don't make people do that. Plus, DH is too nice to cause trouble for them so alas we get to do the work.

It doesn't look like we'll get our new granddaughter today. The Dr. said that both mom and baby are doing fine and cancelled the induction that was scheduled for this morning. Of course she is a little disappointed, but since she is an RN, she understands. So, we're still waiting.

Really weird situation here where we live. The city council fired the Chief of police on Tuesday and every other local police officer and dispatcher walked out and quit their jobs. So, now we have no local police force and no one to man the 911 system. DH has always worked as a State Trooper, so not a city cop, but is friends with all of them. He said he'd absolutely "never" work for the city. The reason the chief was fired was for arresting the Mayor's son for a DUI and drug possession. What a mess.

was it the 1/2 ton man or somrthing like that or the 600 pound woman (I watched those last night).

I have been lurking here in maintnence for a bit. I am almost at goal and thought I would start to get to know the people here. I hope you all do not mind.
  • I'm new, also.

I keep trying to remember to watch at least one episode of that Big Medicine show. The ads for it are something, aren't they? Gracious! Just watching the ads are a pretty good incentive to either diet or stay on maintenance.
