Good morning! I'm gulping coffee and getting ready to fly out the door to the gym so this is a drive-by post just to get us started off for the week. More later.
How's was everyone's weekend? Were you snowed in? Are all of sickies feeling better?
We have our first significant snow of the season, if you can call 3 inches significant. Of course, Mother Nature being the mercurial wit that she is, decided to give us everything at once, so this morning we're getting freezing rain. Snow, I don't mind. Icy snow is another story. It's off to the treadmill for me; no gym this morning. Despite the weather, it's going to be a good week ... I can just feel it in my bones. Up and at 'em everybody.
Well, I haven't posted much lately. It seems my 'flu' is actually #7 due in Sept. I'm thrilled but-my eating is all over the place, sick-sick-sick, then craving a grilled cheese. I'm not sure I still get to post on maintainers if I'm going to be gaining. Are there rules for that? Anyway, that's where I've been. I probably won't be posting much unless I start feeling better. Have a good week all.
I'm doing ok. Things are still up in the air on when I'm going to start my new job. There's a lot of paperwork and red tape to go through. Hopefully, I will know more this week. I hate to admit it, but I'm really nervous about starting, so this delay is not necessarily the worst thing in the world...if only I had some cash, though.
Not working has allowed me to continue my AM workouts. Since I moved, I've been doing the free 8 week pass at Bally's through the Discovery Health Channel National Body Challenge. It's been good. I just realized that I should probably have also gotten a pass for the Bally's near my new job...I wonder if they'll let me in with the other club's pass...
I have successfully upped my calories by about 100-150 over the last couple weeks, and nothing really terrible has happened. Maybe I'll push it up a little more in the near future.
Joy, I posted on maintainers all the way up and all the way down from my pregnancy. When you are feeling well, stop in.
Robin, you are just too perky this morning. I'm just trying to get enough coffee in me to decide that a shower is a good idea.
Tara, I hope your job gets settled.
We got real snow last night, about an inch. We ran out and took pictures of the snow on the cacti. It just doesn't happen here that much, and it melted very quickly. I slept badly last night, so I'm very much dragging this morning. The dog is puking more than normal, and is lying around like a slug so I have to get him into the vet today. DH is gone tomorrow and Wednesday so it is single mom time around the house and that is just about the hardest thing ever.
I'm up getting some coffee in too. Yesterday my eating wasn't too great. The day started off good but by late afternoon I was hitting the peanut butter too much. I did my exercise last night and am trying to be a lot more careful of my food today.
joyofsix, Congratulations, and post as much as you like.
Our snow and ice are now gone, but it's still in the 20's here. We were very fortunate and had power the whole time. My 17 yr. old step-daughter stayed with us for a week because they had no power. Her county was declared a disaster area and FEMA has to come and inspect her school before they can reopen it. She is sure hoping they come soon and it doesn't delay her graduation for long. She is already signed to go to the Coast Guard about 2 weeks after she was to graduate.
Anne, sorry to hear your dog is sick and hope the vet can get him feeling better. . All our puppies are fine, I just wish the temp was warm enough to keep them outside. I am sure I have burned off many calories these last 5 weeks taking care of the pups and cleaning up after them constantly.
DH has been working a lot of overtime as we have class ring, cap and gown and announcements to pay for this week for his DD. Plus, senior pic's to pay for next month. She is homecoming basketball queen on Jan. 30th and her mom is buying her formal dress for that and her prom dress. That will help some. Senior year is so expensive. Taylor does have a part time job, but is making her own car payment and insurance, so that is where all her money goes. We give her a little spending money each week. It really was a joy to have her here for a while and she said she wants to start coming over more on the weekends. This is good. I felt kind of sorry for her. She had been dating a really sweet guy (we thought) that recently broke up with her by leaving her an EMAIL.
Hi everyone! My mouth is recovering nicely from the wisdom teeth removal. My mom came into town this weekend to help me go wedding dress shopping (we found a couple I'm choosing between, and will hopefully be purchasing tonight or tomorrow!) and since there was company and my fiance's family can't let company come without feeding us a lot I ate way too much. The scale said 134 this morning!!! I haven't been to the gym since before my wisdom teeth came out and I'm not going to have the time to go until this Friday. I'm kind of annoyed about it and it's a little embarrassing that I'm going to be having measurements taken for my wedding dress when I'm a bit bigger than usual. I think the wedding stress is getting to me and making me want to eat more.
At least we have a healthy dinner planned for tonight and the rest of this week, and I'm back to my usual lunches. Still working on joining a gym. Things are just going crazy right now between the wedding, my wisdom teeth, my wrist problems, and now I need to make an appointment with a dermatologist because the area around one of my moles has gotten red and swollen. Maybe Saturday we should just drive around to all the local gyms and see if they can give us tours. Do you need appointments for stuff like that?
In other news, we had a brief snowball fight with our exciting real snow this weekend, and I ate too much while watching the big football game. It was pretty exciting and a very close game, and happily our team won (go Colts!).
Hi everyone. Fun to see the snow on the cactus, Anne. Thanks for posting the pic. We got more snow in Denver yesterday and then overnight. The piles just keep growing and growing and I'm so tired of shoveling and driving around in the stuff that I could scream. It's supposed to warm-up a bit this week, so hopefully it will start to melt soon. That won't help with the leak I have in my roof though. I have a call in to the roofers but they can't come out until the snow is no longer on the roof. Agh!
As for eating, I am having good days and bad days. Yesterday started out good but then went down the tubes when I had a run in with the box of triscuits. They were so yummy and then I turned to walnuts. Lots of them. We had my dad over for dinner and I fixed panini sandwiches and potato soup. That wasn't so bad but my dad brought a fabulous carrot cake from a local bakery and I had to have some of that. NOw the leftovers are in the fridge and I need to avoid them.
My weight is still up a few pounds and that's bugging me big time. I am goign to get back on track this week and stay on track and hopefully get a couple of them to budge. I've been sticking with my cardio and weights, so I'm glad about that. Today is my day off but I will hit the gym first thing tomorrow.
Lily, it's so wonderful to hear that you have such a good relationship with your stepdaughter. I know so many people who don't get along with their stepkids/stepparents, and it makes life so difficult. Your DH is very lucky that you love and care for his daughter like you do.
I had started to post a reply earlier while I was still at home and my computer did some crazy thing and I lost the whole thing......
Joy~congratulations! You'll need to change your user name LOL!
Robin~I thank my lucky stars we don't have freezing rain here! It is cold, though. We've had so many nights of freezing temperatures. It is very sad to drive around and see all the dead vegetation. The gardeners are going to reap the profit!
Lily~wow, my DD will be a senior next year. I think I already hear the ching-ching of the cash registers!
Anne~I hope your dog is okay. It's not valley fever is it? I hear the Phoenix area has a problem with that and I can't remember if it is something that only happens in warm weather or not.
MileHi~I'm so happy we moved to So Cal! I'm from Utah so I'm no stranger to the snow. DH says his happiest day was the day we sold our snow shovel!
As for me, I'm still struggling to lose my holiday weight. I've been eating very well, staying away from alcohol most of the time, exercising almost daily, and the half pound I thought I had lost last week has reappeared with a friend. I'm still convinced its the weather! I know I drink less water when I'm cold and I know I crave hot comfort food when I'm cold. I think it's supposed to get up to 62 today, but that still isn't warm enough to warrant salad for dinner. Perhaps February will be better. I checked my weight log....I am the same today as I was on Christmas day. Boo hoo.
Allison - if it's true misery loves company...here I am.
Up 1 pd from yesterday. No one to blame but me.
I am finding it really hard to get on track and stay on track after the holidays.
Sznn: I hear ya about how hard it is to stay on track AFTER the holidays. I did pretty okay throughout thanksgiving and christmas because I was so busy running around and excited about wearing smaller clothes to parties and gatherings. Now there is nothing exciting going on and my motivation is definitely waning. Gotta find something exciting to strive for!!!
Pam
Sznn~thanks for commiserating with me! I'm also having one of those days where I'm starving from the get-go! I'm trying to stave off the hunger by drinking water and hot tea, but the rumbly in my tumbly is making me think I'll have to stick my nose in the honey jar real soon! Of course, that just means eating my yogurt an hour earlier than planned. I'm at work and there are no snacks here like at home!
