    I am re-reading the book again to build my motivtion up..I caught a nasty cold and it is putting a toll on me.

    Does anyone know if Grapenuts is okay? It does not have corn syrup ingredients, but does have 5 grams of sugar. Have been eating it and wonder if anyone else does?
  • Hey all, I have been watching the Canada AM segments. If you're interested just google Canada AM and follow the links. You can watch the video. It is very motivating. Today he said to throw out anything with the following in the first 4-5 ingredients: simple carbs, trans fats, saturated fat, enriched flour as well as anything with more that 4 gms sugar. The sugar thing is certainly the confusing bit. As for my progress...I started yesterday and was eating ok until tonight. Certainly better at least. Is cheese ok? I had a little on a salad. I have been to the gym today and yesterday. Walked for 30 min and did weights yesterday. A lifestyle improvement for sure.

  • I had a splitting headache after work today and really struggled to decide about the gym. In the end I went and walked for 20 and pushed 10 on the eliptical. It was a weight day but I was afraid to strain my neck any more. I felt a little better physically, but a lot better mentally for going. No excuses... Have a great tomorrow.
  • great job wip! i know how tough it is to get the exercise in after a long day of work. i always feel better after exercising also. hope today is better.

    my eating was off yesterday, i had a picky not sure what i wanted day so i had lots of bites of everything. making a YOU-turn and getting back at it today.

  • You turn...I like that one. I have been so so on the food. It's kind of hard to find the right stuff to make quickly. Doesthe book have recipies?
  • yes there are recipes in the book, i haven't tried any of them yet but most of them look simple enough. several soups and salads as i remember.

    i just got back from my 30 minute walk, i almost skipped it but i feel better now that i went.
  • Hey - how are you both doing? I fell off hard yesterday (pizza) and didn't get to the gym today. I have been paying a lot more attention to labels though.

  • I just started this, I'm actually still reading. It is hard to read more than a page at a time with a crazy toddler running around.

    It is nice to see other people doing well with the plan. We started an exercise routine a couple weeks ago (Bowflex and treadmill) and that alone has made a huge difference. Hubby and I went through our cupboards and tried to figure out what we shouldn't eat. I have a lot more to read, but so far, so good. Hope to finish a few more parts on the treadmill tonight.
  • hello rock and meredith- welcome! after all the buzz died down it got pretty quiet in here. i am still plugging away. back on track today after a not so great weekend. i did my 20 min workout this am and will be going for my 1/2 hr walk in a few minutes. hope you are all doing very well
  • Just got back from the store - read a ton of cereal boxes. I stuck with my Special K-Protein Plus. under nutrution facts it says 2 grams of sugar and in the ingredients HFCS is listed as the 10th ingred. Any thoughts ? I really like this one as it has 10 g protein, 5 fiber and only 9 net carbs, but am thinking of trying something else if you all think that hfcs is too high ? ? ? ?
  • Hi everyone *waves* I'm Fae, and I was bouncing around for a week trying to decide if I wanted to buy the book.. after seeing the show on Discovery Health I went out and got it! And while Im not following it exactly, I am adding what they say about eating with my calorie-counting and exercise plan (the walking is easy for me, because I dont have a drivers licence or a car, so Im always walking everywhere!) I want to be more aware of what goes in, so I am reading labels and working on eating less HFCS, etc.

    The combination of this book with my existing plan seems to be working well for me so far. After two days of eating homemade frozen meals (cooking things, then portioning them out into plastic bags and freezing them), I was able to break my mini-plateau and hit my thanksgiving goal! Yay!

  • Iwent shopping this eve after work - reading labels. Crazy how much is off limits. I certainly made better choices, but not perfect. I did lose 4 lbs last week but no inches unless I measured wrong. Was probably on program about half the time. Better than nothing!
