Default Purple Plan????

I am 5' 0" (it's hard to find someone shorter than me!) and weigh 228 pounds. It is the highest I've ever weighed. I have a copy of the purple plan and the cookbook that someone I know gave me. (She's had gastric bypass since then and doesn't need the stuff anymore). I don't know where to start. I've seen all the success that people have had on T.V. and was hoping you all could point me in the right direction. Is the purple plan okay for me? Should I start with a different plan? I can't afford to join the center - it's way too pricey. Any help would be appreciated!

Weightylady:

Come on over to the May 2005 thread, and we'll all help you out. Not sure about the plan choice, but if you read the May 2005 thread - I believe someone posted how to choose a plan. My sister had over 60 lbs to lose, and didn't exercise and is on the Purple Plan, but she is doing the LA Lites. If you will be adding Luna bars or another protein bar in the place of the LA Lites I think that plan would work okay for you. If you will not be doing the Lites/Bars, you may want to go up a plan. The diet itself does work and if you give it a try - you will love it. It's like learning to eat all over again, and the end result is that you get into very good eatting habits that will allow you to maintain the weight. At least that is my feelings after being on plan for a year. There are others here that are doing it on their own, and although I believe it's harder - it can be done. Good Luck and join us over on the other thread.

See ya there, Sy

I'm on the purple plan, was originally on the red. The plans change as you lose more weight. I started out at 229 (5'1") and was put onto the purple at about 220 I think (though I'm not sure). I "dropped" out for awhile, and when I came back she just kept me on the same plan. If you need help, feel free to email me with your exact questions.

I just registed for this site, so you are the first email I have sent!

I am only into the program for three weeks. I am on the purlple plan. I am 5'1". Start wt. 176. Need to lose 45 lbs. They started me on the Gold plan, but after a week I decided I would not do the bars, so I am on food only. So they changed me to the Purple plan. I feel like it is too much food. Only lost 1 lbs. this week. Think I am retaining water so I am working on it.

Hi Kathy!

Glad that you found us! We are much more chatty during the work week (but this weekend we are REALLY quiet!)

I've got about the same amount to go as you do - but I've already lost about 40 while on plan. The purple plan is a lot of food (8 oz of chicken is huge) -

It seems that I started off really slow - I lost about 5 on the original 2 day start, and then NOTHING for about 10 days - I think our bodies just have to adjust to a new weight before we can start dropping again. I find that I lose in clumps - maybe 1/2 or 1 pound one week, and then 3 the next.

Hope to see you in our monthly thread - if you read a few pages, you know all about us.

Hugs,
Julie

I don't know if you still need help but....I'm also 5' 0"! yay for short people! I started on the red plan and they switched me to purple when I hit 215. The only difference with the red plan is one more starch and .5 more protein.
