No, you don't have to exercise to lose. In fact, my 1st counslor told me not too, because it might slow my loss. By the time I had lost 40 lbs, though, I was noticing a lot of flabby skin and stuff, so I decided to add exercise.

BoosMom I was on Purple and have honestly been between 188 and 186 for probably the past 5 weeks now. And they JUST changed my plan on saturday to blue. I wasnt feeling well all weekend so I really didnt eat. Today will be my first time on it. Its not too bad. You get an extra half a protein and an extra starch but one less vegetable. Looking at it it seems like a lot but after I thought about it its really just 1/2 of a protein more. I figure in a weird way the veggie loss and starch gain kind of equal eachother out. :dizzy: I am hoping to stay POP all week because on Sunday 3/26 I leave for Las Vegas. And I am hoping to be a few pounds down before then. ;)

Diane if you discover anything that makes blue easy or any pointers...really just anything...the advice would be much appreciated!! I am waaaaaay behind schedule. My target date is April 26 and to lost 26lbs by then I know will not happen and is not healthy. But I am hoping to try and get this weight to fall off of me. I would like to get to the "guaranteed" 2lbs a week again if possible. Any tips from anyone would be great!! :D

As for working out this week is going to be a lot different. I usually work afternoons and evenings but this week I am work 9-5 all week so I have decided to workout after I get off work. Today I am planning on doing at least 30 min on the treadmill :woops: and then BL #1. I went out and bought 4lb weights :lifter: yesterday so hopefully I start getting some muscle cuts back!!

Repo girl 03-20-2006 01:43 PM

4 lbs? Wow Megan, you are one tough chickie! I use 2 lbs.

30lbsby22 03-20-2006 01:46 PM

haha you dont know how good that makes me feel! I was soooo embarassed saying I only got 4lbs. The DBF was making fun of me yesterday at the store because I said I wanted 1lb weights and then this little girl no older than 3 came over and picked up the 1lb and started doing curls. I felt so awful. I have 2 or 3lbs at home that I used last week and I think I will continue to use those until I feel it is too easy and then move to my 4lb weights!! Thanks again Katie for not laughing though!! :)

Megan:
Blue sounds really interesting, I could give up one veggie for a starch and a half protein.:hun: Girl, I wish you the best in your new plan, and enjoy a lot in Vegas. Don't feel embarassed about the weights, you and Katie inspired me to buy ones so I can start using them, the truth is that you and Katie inspired me to do excercise by reading your posts. I have to go to Vegas in May for my DH's cousin weeding. I hope that me and DH found a chapel to re-marry but with Elvis.(Don't worry if you have a little slip in Vegas b/c what happen in Vegas stay in Vegas.;))

Thanks Milca for all your kind words and support. I am hoping *keyword is hoping* to stay on plan as much as I can while out there. I already informed my friend that we are going to walk as much as possible. She isnt too happy about it but she'll get over it! As for working out Katie is actually the one who inspired me. My COD told me not to and if I did to keep it under 5 hours. But when I read katies post about seeing muscles in her arms and back I knew I had to get on the train and start working out. I am thankful everyday that I found this site. You ladies are so inspiring and helpful. I dont know if I would still be on LAWL if it weren't for you!!

I was told to have 5 or 6 small meals, which I do already, and to have either a protein, dairy or a fat in each meal. Those are the metabolism boosters. I went from gold to blue, so I added a starch and 1/2 protein, same of everything else. It's a sweet deal, but it's hard to get everything in when you're not used to it. So far, I haven't seen any change at all. It's only been 2.5 days, but I was hoping to see something. I am really getting down on myself, but I'm keeping up with what I'm doing. POP and working out. It just HAS to catch up with me sometime!

Last week I actually gained .2 for the week. With all the dedication I've been putting in, it's hard to swallow a gain. Before last week, I've been averaging 1.8 pounds a week, so I'm not up to the 2 pounds a week either. After last week my average is down, but I don't know how much. Not sure I want to know. If I don't see a change in the scale tomorrow, I think I'll just call in and let them know I'm not going in. Now if I go to Thursday without seeing a change (which will be 2 weeks), I'm going in and going ape s**t on theirs butts. (Excuse my language ;) )

Good luck on the new plan. We can work through this together! We can do it, we can do it! I just have to keep telling myself this.....

Diane

Diane- You are so funny. Your threat on the COD had me ROFLMAO!

ConnorsMum 03-20-2006 05:12 PM

Thanks Katie. All kidding aside though, I'm frustrated. I don't claim to understand how the body works, but how can I possibly go this long without showing any loss at all. I understand the whole losing fat and gaining muscle thing, but I also read that muscle and fat weigh the same. So it can't be muscle that's making the scale stand still. Okay, I've done enough complaining for a day.....

One question though, have you had a lot of success with TO since you've been exercising? I'm thinking about doing it to kick my weight loss into gear. But then I think that I've been switched to blue cuz I wasn't getting enough calories in for the working out I'm doing. TO will cut my calorie intake down big time. What are your thoughts? Any suggestions will be helpful.

Thanks

Diane

Repo girl 03-20-2006 06:06 PM

Hmmmm, I did do TO after a trip last month, and I did exercise. I lost back the weight gained over the weekend trip. I have heard from others though not to exercise during TO. Not totally sure about that. Now, how long have you been on this plateau, and is it the first one? Maybe I can offer some insight.

ConnorsMum 03-20-2006 09:03 PM

Yes, this is my first. I've been the same weight for a week and a half. Actually according to the COD, I've gained .2 of a pound. I stopped taking bc pills last month and this is the first TOM that I will be going through since then. I haven't gotten it yet, but I've been cramping on and off for the last few days and I've broken out a little on my face (yippee :( ), so that could be it. I would be retaining some water, but wouldn't I have still lost some fat? I've changed a couple things this month though. I've started really working out and there's the bc thing. Maybe it's just a combination of both, who knows.

My plan is to just keep doing what I'm doing and hope for the best. Maybe once I get AF, I'll be back on track. It's torture since now I don't know exactly when I'm going to get it. I guess there's pros and cons to taking the pills.

On the bright side, I took my measurements this morning and have lost another couple inches. The scale may not reflect it, but I'm starting to look good anyway :)

30lbsby22 03-20-2006 09:32 PM

well I did it. I worked out tonight when I got home from work. I didnt want to but I made myself. I know all it takes is one day to say I'm not going to do it and then the next couple times its easy to say it to where it gets to you arent doing anything. And thats how I got to be where I am. I have a super long day tomorrow so I might just do the BL and not run. :lifter:

Diane sorry to hear about your frustration. :( I feel your pain chickie. My center didnt change my plan until saturday and I was at my weight (= or - 2lbs) for 5 weeks. Where in IL do you live? I used to LOVE my COD and now I could really care less for it. I go to the one in bloomingdale *if you know where that is* but am really considering a different one. There are only 2 good people who are working there. And I hardly ever get to meet with them. Just hang in there chickie. We will break this plateau sometime soon!! Plus I think we deserve a little pat on the back for busting our butts the way we do working out! Go us!! All of us!! :grouphug:

ConnorsMum 03-20-2006 09:48 PM

I don't know where Bloomingdale is. I live in Wadsworth. It's very north, I'm on the border of IL & WI. I really like my COD. I consider myself lucky to have them from some of the stories I've read here. This is the first time I've had this much of a problem. When I gained in the past, it was because I deserved it. Now that I'm working out, I feel like I don't want to ruin that effort by eating bad. So, I've been really good on plan.

We WILL get through this together!

Thanks for the support as always!

Diane- I was wondering, because from what I have observed from myself and other girls on this board, it seems to me that most people hit their first plateau around 20-30 lbs lost. I may sound like a broken record here to some of the chicks, but Bob Greene, Oprah's trainer, says that after so many pounds are lost, the body has to take a break from losing to readjust to your new size. You know, like that amount of blood you have, the size and positions of organs, hormones, etc. It does happen to everyone that is losing weight, and it really sucks to being doing everything right and not be losing, but don't give up. Your body is just preparing to start losing again. Good luck!!
