Star 09-19-2005 09:49 AM

Julie - That's a good sign to look for when working out muscle - just being able to tell that it's alive and kicking.....lol
Yes, I do interval training when I do what I call circuit train.....
It's all good......we are fit chicks!!! :cheer: :tread: :ebike: :strong: :hat:

Chklithunder 09-19-2005 03:12 PM

I finally get to post here!

Went to the FC, did 33 minutes on the eliptical trainer and burned 342 calories. Yay me! :encore: :cp:

auditgirl 09-19-2005 03:15 PM

Good for you Carmen!!! That's fantastic, keep up the good work ;-)

Star 09-19-2005 03:15 PM

Carmen - Welcome to the Yard  and Way to go - great start :cheer: :coach:

textjewel 09-19-2005 04:42 PM

Oo-rah- did my interval training tape - 40 minutes - thank heavens it's almost all lower body toning in between the aerobic intervals --

WTG, Carmen - Star is going to whip us into shape!

Julie

Star 09-19-2005 04:48 PM

:coach: It's a tough job, but someone has to do it :rollpin:
Remember, it's for you own good

Chklithunder 09-19-2005 04:59 PM

 I submit - fully! I want to be "above average fit" for my age too! What an accomplishment.

Star 09-20-2005 08:38 AM

Morning Chicks....

Last night :dancer: (jazzercise). It was fun and I noticed it really makes me sweat. I'll take that is a good sign.

Today - gym - :strong: (circuit train) - 45 minutes
:tread: - 10 minutes - really to talk to my friend, who I'm trying to hookup with another friend

Jen - isn't it nice having other fit chick posters in the yard....... :cheer:

auditgirl 09-20-2005 09:06 AM

It is great to see more fit chicks in the yard!!! Keep up the great work! I only got in a couple of miles last night, still trying to get ready to go out of town for work and prepare house for family coming to town this weekend.

textjewel 09-20-2005 09:47 AM

Boy - am I feeling it in my arms (still from SUNDAY) and in my abs -- today the plan is a yoga tape, I think -- or maybe pilates, or maybe both . .. after I WI. I'm still up - I guess my muscles are retaining water?? Or I'm still suffering from weekend sodium. . . yuck.

Julie

Chklithunder 09-20-2005 11:04 AM

I'm feeling a bit sluggish today, not sure if it was the workout or what . I can't think of any other reason it could be. I DO know that yesterday after working out I was all energized and that is the first time a workout made me feel that way. I think the difference was that I paid close attention to the heart rate monitor and kept my rate in the "cardio" range. Any other time it would be way too high. Its just hard to believe that I could actually get a good workout without being winded to the point of hyperventilation (which is what I'm used to experiencing during a workout). So today at 1:45 there is a yoga class. I think I am going to try it. Wish me luck, my balance is a real joke!

Star 09-20-2005 11:10 AM

:coach: Carmen, I LOVE it that you are already trying new and different types of exercise. It is my opinion, that will help keep your interest and ward off boredom ;) Besides how else will you know what you like and don't like in torture - this way you can pick....

Julie - I just love it when I feel soreness :cp: It's a sure way to tell you have worked those lazy little muscles :cheer:

Chklithunder 09-20-2005 03:08 PM

Thanks Star, I hope I am able to keep up with it. Okay, I went to yoga and ran into one of my favorite people of all time. We got caught up a bit. About the class...it was REALLY challenging! I can't balance at all. Its a wonder I can walk upright. I felt like such a klutz. BUT the instructor told me I did well for my first time, and she urged me to come back. I think I'll go back. The class reminded me a lot of pilates. It was really tough, and my arms got a real workout.

Star 09-20-2005 03:12 PM

Carmen - Yoga is very hard at first it works your muscles in a different way than say cardio.....it makes them stronger. It is therefore similar to pilates, building your core muscles. Even jazzercise has some pilates type moves in it now, they are still hard for me......I'm glad you liked it and you'll go again :cheer:  (thats water)

textjewel 09-20-2005 04:58 PM

Carmen, I am groaning in recognition -- I did a yoga tape, too - I thought it was supposed to be relaxing -- I have movement-challenged-anxiety. . . And some of the poses are held long enough so that my muscles start to shake. I'm going to take Star's words to heart -- it's just that those poor muscles aren't used to this type of action. . .

textjewel 09-21-2005 08:47 AM

Today's goal is more cardio and back to arms - they've stopped aching, so they're ready for more action . ..

Star 09-21-2005 08:49 AM

Happy Hump Day to you fit chicks....

Julie - Thoses shaking muscles are yelling "what the heck are you doing to me :?: " That is such a great sign  You are bringing them out of the coma....... (It will stop soon)...

Today -
This a.m. gym - :tread: speed 4, 336 calories gone, 4.20 miles - one hour :cheer:

Noticed since I am going alittle faster I sweat like a :ink:

textjewel 09-21-2005 02:55 PM

Did 30 minutes of cardio -oo-rah -- 4 days in a row (maybe this is a trend)

shennie_97 09-21-2005 03:40 PM

going to cardio-karate this evening.

I can't work out the way i useto with this new job, so I am looking to getting some cardio DVD's and doing cardio at home 4-5 times a week and going to my class on Wed nights.

I'll have to put weight training on hold until later, plus since they won't take me off of blue, at least I can work out enough to stay hungry enough to eat all of that meat :)

I like crunch fitness DVD's so I ordered 2 of them and the carme electra striptease one (i couldn't resist:)) I also got a cardio dance, a Shrinking Women's fat zone one and pilates.

I have blockbuster on-line, so I am just ordering the DVD's and burning a copy at home and sending them back (so it won't cost me much)

Anybody know of any good DVD's out there?

vibrantecho 09-21-2005 08:28 PM

Hey fit chickies - I'm claiming THREE bucks for my fund today. I did the usual 30 min on the treadmill in the a.m., then worked with my horse for about an hour today. She had the whole weekend off, and it was like starting over from scratch in the keeping-her-focused department. She just didn't want to pay attention, so we had to work EXTRA hard (both of us!!!). So I feel justified in claiming $3 for the extra-tough workout I got.

Star 09-22-2005 08:41 AM

.

Julie - It's not a trend - it's a great new habit :cp:
Fiona - your gonna have those new shoes in no time ;)

shennie_97 - How many exercise tapes does one chick need :?: Well I have my fair share ( ) I really like the Beach Body Series. You can check it out on Beachbody.com.....

:dancer: (Jazzercise) last night. I'm starting to enjoy it more, but it makes my M,W&T really busy with the double duty exercise (a.m. & p.m.) :dizzy:

This a.m. gym - 45 mintues :strong: (circuit train) oh-rah
Noticed also that my arms are looking more defined now. I guess the 3 days cardio, two day weights is working better for me...... :cb:

textjewel 09-22-2005 09:24 AM

Hey fit chicks!

WTG Fiona, those shoes are closer and closer. I did take a good look at the ones I've been wearing lately, and noticed that the back fabric has worn away -- not a good sign!

Shennie - about the videos - I have several, and most of them are Kathy Smith - I love her cueing, she has one for every type of workout that you can imagine -- I find that I go to them time and time again -- I have a karen voigt tape (old), and I'm trying to branch out into other formats --

Star -- I think it's awesome that you can see more defination in your arms with as much as you work out -- I always imagined that you'd have great arms and legs. . .

I keep on hearing about tae-bo - - what is it, and does anyone like it?

Julie

I take a cardio-karate (tae bo class) at my gym and i like it.

You can order the billy blanks tapes 9 I use to do them about three years ago when they first came out, but I like my class more than him :)

Basically it is a mixture of martial arts with cardio. there are punches, kicks and all of that stuff. I like it so much better than plain old arebics

vibrantecho 09-22-2005 10:00 AM

Hey Julie - I have ONE Billy Blanks tae-bo DVD that I bought years ago before I started yoga. It's gathering dust in the video cabinet. If you think yoga gives you movement anxiety, tae bo will drive you nuts. I just can't do it (I can't keep up with regular aerobics moves, either), I always move the wrong foot at the wrong time and get all turned around. I can handle the warm-ups, like punch-punch-punch, but when he gets into punch-kick-step-step-kick-step-punch, (I just made that up, BTW) I want to cry.

Star 09-22-2005 10:07 AM

Years ago, in the 70's my family took Karate. Karate is an excellent tool for coordination, balance, strength and confidence. Saying that, I wonder if I should try and fit it back in my schedule somewhere.

textjewel 09-22-2005 12:21 PM

okay, did 30 min cardio -- interesting that this is a tape that I started back in March, I still remember the moves, so it's a little easier, but still brings up a sweat.

Maybe I'll see if I can find a used tae-bo tape and give it a try -- Fiona, about the foot work, it IS frustrating, but it feels so good when I'm finally in synch.

Star -- you need another exercise class like I need, hmmm ??

Star 09-22-2005 01:44 PM

Info on my bunions, becuz I know you are all dying to know...
The doctor said that now, since I've waited so long, the plan has changed.
No longer do I have to have surgery where he puts surgical pins in my foot.
NOW he will just replace the entire joint. The good news is, he likes this surgery better, less healing time and I can work out 3 weeks after surgery.
:cheer: :tread: :cp:
So he gave me a shot in the bunion and said he'll see me next week for another shot. Surgery will be scheduled after my prolapse surgery.
(See this is what happens when we get older :tantrum: )

textjewel 09-22-2005 02:07 PM

eek - replace the entire joint? I'll never wear pointy shoes again. Is it the toe joint?

Star 09-22-2005 02:09 PM

yes, big toe - both feet......

Fiona (BKS) I'm really glad that my pain gives you such joy

Thank gosh he froze it first.

textjewel 09-22-2005 02:20 PM

:fr: Did you have to hobble out, or did they put you in a wheel chair

Star 09-22-2005 02:24 PM

Julie - no, actually after he froze it I couldn't feel anything. The shot didn't hurt. I walked to the car, drove home and then went to Jazzercise....lol

Chklithunder 09-22-2005 02:36 PM

Okay y'all this is getting frustrating...

I am supposed to be in class right now (actually should be finishing up) but I couldn't go because my friggin pager went off at 1:30 and the class started at 1:45. I just finished up the problem I was working on, but now I have a meeting at 3:00, then I have to leave by 4:30, pick up DS and make it to open house by 6:00. No time for the workout today, unless I go home and try to catch Gilad on FitTV. How do you all deal with unexpected changes in schedule?

Star 09-22-2005 02:48 PM

Carmen,

For me, I try to make it to the gym every monring Monday - Friday
and now Jazzercise Mon-Wed & Thrus -
So if for some reason I miss a day here and there, it is no big deal. I plan to go 100% and take what I can get......
If you exercise on a regular basis it won't hurt you to miss now and then...

Chklithunder 09-22-2005 02:56 PM

Star - thanks, and thank God he froze your bunion before the shot. What does the shot do?

Star 09-22-2005 03:04 PM

Carmen, the shot was something for the inflamation.....becuz I told him it didn't hurt, but he didn't like that color of red....

Star 09-23-2005 08:38 AM

Tgif

Last night - :dancer: one hour.....

Today - Gym :tread: 1 hour/5 min cooldown speed 4, 339 calories, 420 miles :cheer:

Funny note: at the gym this a.m. I read in a fitness magizine that to alleviate soreness after a workout doing afew 'downward dog' yoga moves is very helpful.... Ofcourse if the 'downward dog' is the thing that got you sore in the first place :?:

textjewel 09-23-2005 08:42 AM

WTG, Star - (420 miles? or 4.20?)

This may end up being my rest day since I have a funeral to go to today -- hopefully, I'll get home early enuf today to do some cardio or some weights. .

Tomorrow will be tough too -- oh, well, will figure it out somehow.

Julie
