Welcome Aleta, Jillian and Bernie. I think you'll find a lot of support and good advice here - plus some great humor and healthy perspective (OK, maybe aside from the strung out scale junkies).

Make sure you join us regularly on the LAWL Losers and Friends thread as that is where most of the action is at. Although, if you have a specific question or issue, you might want to start a new thread or it could get lost in the free-for-all conversation.

Hi all! I guess it's my turn to introduce myself. Sorry it took so long, been a little swamped.

My name is Barb, I'm from the East Coast of Canada (originally from Saint John, NB) now living in Halifax, NS. I work for a local Forensic Services Lab, I'm still in my understudy training, I have about 1 more year to go and I'll be a full-fledged Forensic Specialist. My boyfriend of 6 years lives in Ottawa, ON (great relationship, we see eacher other about every 6-8 weeks!) It's quite hard, espcially when we're together, I don't tend to lose much during those weeks!

I joined LAWL last August after realizing I didn't like the way I looked, felt and filled out my clothes. I've tried other diets (Atkins, Weight Watchers, etc) and nothing really worked well. I don't have the discipline to stick to it and when I found out you had to get weighed in 3 times a week, I was hooked. (A little $ticker-$hocked at first, but now, if anything, its what's keeping me going!)

I lost my first 15lbs rather quickly and was quite excited. I felt better running the bases playing softball, I finally fit into pants that were snug before. The rest of the weight has been a real challenge. I'm down about 34lbs and have 26 more to go. I'm sure I could lose them, but like I said before, I have personal discipline issues as well as motivational issues, not having any of my family or long-time friends around is really hard. And frankly, Kitty doesn't care what I eat so long as she gets her food!

I'm really glad I found this forum. I don't know many people in Halifax and I like the idea of being able to communicate with others in the same boat as I all over NA. I really like the signatures with the amount of weight lost and how far to go. In fact, I print a larger one up and stuck it to my fridge in the hopes it will help .

Anyway, I'm getting a little long-winded, and as much as I don't want to, must get back to work.

Again, thanks to all here, I'm sure I've found the right place to help me get to my goal.

Alright, I guess it's time I did the proper introduction of myself. What can I say? I'm the Amazing Kim! LOL... and I'm a huge nerd
I'm a 21 year old student on Vancouver Island. In three months I will be graduating with a Bachelor of Tourism Management. When I grow up (I warned you about the nerdiness) I want to be either a city planner, or something to do with festivals and events. I live with my boyfriend, we have been together for 3 years and he is amazing support for me in everything I do. I'm one lucky girl People tease us because our house resembles an animal rescue as we have 7 furkids: 4 ferrets, 1 cat, 1 chinchilla, and a turtle. All of our animals were either abandoned, unwanted, or abused, and I feel really good knowing that we can give them better lives and it's amazing how a little love will change even the most stubborn animal. I'm like a proud mom, I could go on about my "kids" all day... but I'll stop for now. I'm sure some more of my zaney animal stories will come up in time. (P.S. my avatar is a picture of my super-cute 6 week old baby ferret. She's HUGE now.)
I am in this LAWL thing for the long haul. My goal weight is 125 lbs. I want to be one of those girls everyone is jealous of on the beach! Ok, I think I have said more than enough for now. I'm excited to get to know all of you, and I might even try to keep up with the chatter in losers and friends thread, but you guys move pretty fast for me, so we'll see

Hi,My name is Sara!
I just realized that I probably should have introduced myself here as I have been posting on this site for the last couple of weeks. I do apologize for my ignorance as I wasn't aware of this until now.
I joined LAWL on January 5th,2007. I heard about this program through my cousin and a friend who had recently been on and succesful lost their weight. I remember wanting to try this program from the times that ave on Z103.5 was on it and kept advertising it on the radio, but money was always an issue.
In the past, probably like many of you I have been on WW a few times. Lost some weight, and put it back on. Tried so many other things, and same thing.
The truth of the matter is, it is time, time to get serious about this. I am not happy with the way I look and feel about myself. It doesn't matter if my husband and kids and family and friends like me for what I am...I was not happy with me. I hate being overweight, it just doesn't feel right to me. I need to lose weight for myself, so I can learn to like myself once again.
So for this reason I joined as well as I want to set a good positive example for my two wonderful children (son, 12, daughter,14).
I know this will work, because I've never wanted something so much...I am dedicated to this 100%.
It is so wonderful to have found such a great supportive group to help me through this journey. I also would like to be able to help others and hopefully one day be a role model.

To all of us here, the best of luck...we deserve it...we deserve to feel good about ourselves at whatever weight feels right to us!

Thanks again for listening and for letting me be part of this group.

Hi Everyone,
My name is Lynn and I live in southern Wisconsin. I have two grown sons and I am sick and tired of being very overweight. I was fortunate to have been slim even through my high school days, but college and a sedentary desk job with no exercise brought me to this point in my life. I stated LAWL on Dec 27th and have lost 11 lbs. I am pleased about that, but I am anxious to be able to see some results so that I can wear clothes that are hanging in my closet. I found 3 Fat Chicks on Saturday and I am looking forward to learning more and sharing info on the program. I am sick of winter and anxious to get out into my yard again. I can hardly believe it is now 43 degrees above zero here today.
Lynn

Smile HI! - First timer here

I have never posted before, anywhere, ever. A little nervous. So, just jump in then! I live about 30 minutes west of Nashville, TN. I am married to a tall, dark and handsome loud irish-italian man (let me tell ya, that's a fun combo) and have two girls ages 8 and 14 - one is my angel, the other, well, hormonal - take a guess which is which.

I had been on the plan about two years ago and actually made my goal weight. I started at 168 and got down to 145 in a little over two months. What I didn't do was maintain the life style change. I told myself "I am at my goal weight...what would a piece of cake do" or "this handful of chips will be okay - I'm at my goal weight." Then one day "I WASN'T at my goal weight". In fact, I gained the 20 pounds back and didn't stop there...I added 20 more pounds! A little OVER-confidence and a lot of snacking didn't seem to be a good mix for me.

I Recommitted to LAWL Feb.8. I'm excited again. I know this plan works - I've been there, seen it, experienced it. I'm hoping to get to know others on this plan and use the buddy system.

Thanks for reading! Hope to post again soon!

Post New to this forum and to LAWL

Hello all. My name is Sophie and I am very new to all of this. I've been reading through some of the posts on this forum, and I have already found it to be very informative.

A little about me. I am 32 years old, height 5'7" and I am unfortunately at my heaviest ever, currently at 270 lbs. I have a wonderful husband and the cutest and most well behaved 4 year old girl ever! I am blessed with good health and a great family, so my life is good. The only disappointment in my life right now is my weight. But with support from here (my family is already most supportive) and great information, I am sure I can reach my goal weight if 150 lbs in about a year or so.

Last week I joined LAWL, but cancelled 3 days later. The plan itself sounds super, but I just could not commit to the $30/week for the LA lites. That is just too expensive, and without buying the LA lites, they don't even offer you the regular plan. Makes me wonder if they're really into dieting, or just selling their products. They wanted nothing to do with me unless I bought the LA lites. So here I am. However (!!) I do have the Menu Plan Kit which I plan on sticking to, and will substitute the LA lites with Luna bars (as I read through the posts). I know I will have a lot of questions for the various member of this forum, and I look forward to becoming a contributing member myself, hopefully soon.

I welcome all advise, so please feel free to speak your mind with me. Thank you in advance.

It's good to be here....
Sophie

Hi Sophie and welcome! Are you on the red plan? I'm actually surprised that you were told that. If you are still interested in attending a center, I would call back and ask to speak with the manager, or call the 800 number. If not, there are a lot of people here who have been successful without a COD. I am so sorry that your first impression was a bad one. Come join us in the Losers and Friends thread for our daily chatter.

P.S. Your daughter is beautiful!

Default My turn!

Hi I have lurked for a couple days and I like this site WAY MORE than the LAWL site!
I joined the day before yesterday, and lost three pounds so far. Granted, it was mostly water weight from the restricted carbs the first two days, and the fact that the FF juice really kicked my butt! (I told them I cannot drink it again because of the....laxative...effect!) But I was still absolutely amazed to get on that scale.
Anyway, I am SO looking forward to tomorrow, when I can really start the plan as I am freaking STARVING. I have had all the lettuce, veggies, and meat I can stand for the last two days She told me at the center that I am hungry because my metabolism is revving up. I think its just cause I need more food lol.
I am a recovering Atkins user...I did it and lost 35 pounds. Now, 2 1/2 years later, I have to lose 34 of them again! (well, I guess that's 31 now!). I loved the low-carb lifestyle but it didn't take long to realize that it wasn't something I could maintain. LAWL sounds much more like a do-able lifestyle. Some of my weight gain was related to an underactive thyroid, and the fact that I spent the last couple years in nursing school obtaining my RN while still holding down a part time job, raising two kids and being a wife to the most awesome man ever. Studying and going to classes took over way too much of my time but
now my thyroid is evening out and I am working full time. Now is the time to concentrate on me and focus on getting myself back into shape so I can handle the rigors of my career.
I start the Gold plan tomorrow morning, and I am a little worried because I thought the Blue plan with its higher protein, might be a little more appropriate d/t my 12hour shifts three days a week. They said they will move me if I can't function well with only the two proteins. The girl today said that its only shift-workers that have the Blue plan, and since I only work 11am - 1130 pm, or also 3pm - 1130pm, that doesn't count as 'shift work' since its not overnights. Ah, whatever.
I, like others here, HAVE to buy the bars. I read around here yesterday and this morning and went for my day 2 check-in and she reiterated, buy the bars or leave the program. I told her that even on the LAWL forum some people don't have to buy the bars but she told me that now everyone does in all states. That kind of sucks. My saving grace will be that soy is not always good with hypothyroidism, so if it affects me I can just get a note from my endocrinologist, whom I am seeing pretty regularly anyway.
So lets see...what else about me...Not sure what else to say!
I look forward to meeting everyone and getting/giving support on this journey!
