Sy - Be careful in Alex Bay! The restaurants are way too good. Ask the waiter NOT to bring out the bread basket! I just weighed in at LA and I've lost 16.6 pounds since April 15th. I'm happy so far. Sy we seem to be losing at about the same rate. Have a good day everyone.

Hi Everyone!

I weighed in again last night and lost a couple of ounces, so, no big deal. It's only been 2 days since I weighed last and I was down 4 pounds then. I won't be back to the center until next Wednesday as I'm going camping. Having a good time planning food for that...not! :p I figure if I'm prepared I'll be fine. Luckily the friend I'm going with is on WW, so she'll stay on track with me.

Happy Birthday Meltin'!!!! Have a great weekend!

Congratulations on the losses Sy and Beachlover! Great job. I hope to be where you guy's are in a couple of weeks. :D

I just hope I'm not too tempted to drink this weekend. :dunno:
I'm camping with a bunch of people that I hung out with when I was younger...like in my teens. It's gonna be really fun!! It's also been raining here (in Western Washington State) for 2 days. I hope it clears up before the weekend.... :crossed:
I'll be just east of the mountains, so, the forecast may be different there.

Hi Diane!!!

Have a great OP day everyone!

Hi Everyone! I am new to this group and so happy to have found this group. NOt to many LAWL forums on the web that I can find. I don't know how to find my may around in here yet but maybe I will learn. I am a nurse and began LAWL a couple of months ago but due to my travel got off of it and now I'm ready to go again. I've been pretty close to being on plan the past 2 weeks but am really gung ho now. I have a lot to lose (about 190 lbs) so I should be here awhile. I have a friend who lost 100 lbs on the plan and has been on the commercials and in her local paper so I know it works. Just wanted to say high and I've read both the #77 and #78 threads. any help would be appreciated.
Deb

Hi Deb, Welcome. Unfortunately this thread isn't too active. I've been going to LAWL since April 15th. and it's working - so far so good. Your friend sounds like a real inspiration. One thing I know is that exercise has to be incorporated into this plan. Good luck and look forward to your postings.

not very active

Hi beachlover,
Canada is my very favorite place in the world. My boyfriend lives in Montreal and was born in Toronto. I don't get up there very often but plan to spend the rest of my life there eventually. I wish this thread was more active. Does anyone know of any other threads? I belong to the Yahoo group but it is the same 3 people over and over. Did I mention that my friend that lost the weight has now maintained that weight for a year as of yesterday? She was so proud of herself. Maybe everyone is just busy for the holiday. I have no life right now but I work so hard that I don't mind staying home on my day off. I do need to go to the store so that will be my fun.

Hi everyone, and Welcome TexNurse

Welcome TexNurse. I think with Memorial Day weekend - everyone here had something to do - the reason for the lack of messages. This is not as active a something like Weight Watcher's message board, but the more that see some activity - the more will join. I think if it was setup like WW Message Boards with would be more activity. This isn't as user friendly as their is. I"m not complaining, just comparing... There is little information about LA on the internet in general. Wow, already down 10 lbs - good for you!

Went to Alex Bay this weekend. Weather was great and had a great time. Although I didn't stay 100% on plan, I'm proud of my choices - and didn't go crazy. Had a couple beers - but didn't eat my LA Lites that day so that was a balance. Did have a few Fat Free Pringles for my starches one day - and had some dip - but used towards my dairy (then got out the salsa - so that was a much better choice). Overall, I think I did well. I may be up a little, but nothing that I can't get off this week. Started back on plan yesterday so I'm back in the swing of it again... Next challenge will be my 10 day vacation.

TexNurse - if you have any tips or receipes to share - I'm very interested. If you need help, normally you will get a quick response.

Hello All
Welcome Deb!
I hope everyone had a nice long weekend. I was off plan more than I was on. Today hopefully I get back on track. I thought about doing Some Express days I decided against. I do the express and then I have not bee sticking to plan consistantly.
Do any of you receive the Open House letter from LAWL?
Jenni did you have fun camping? My friend does WW also. I like going to the meetings. When you talk to anyone at LAWL is just usually between weigh ins unless you have a long wait.
Debby this is the most people we had on this thread for quite a while.
Wow beachlover congrats on the 16.5 pounds.
Hello to everyone else
Diane

Diane - I am with you on not being off more than on this weekend.
What is the Open House Plan.

The birthday was great. I got the pictures back and I look so fat, so I need to get back on program. I have not weighed in since last Tues. I am going to make myself go back on Thursday not matter what.

Welcome, Debby. Way to go with the 10 pounds.
Jenni, Thanks for the birthday greeting.

I will check in soon.

Hi Ladies!
Welcome Deb. My camping trip was canceled due to the bad weather we had over the weekend. I was able to stay mostly on plan for the whole weekend. I decided to catch up on my cleaning....I'm spending today a little irritated and I can't exactly put my finger on why. I'm irritated that I'm fat, I'm irritated that I look like this. I know I'm doing something about it, but, you know how it can be sometimes. You want to fix everything and you want it right now. I know this is going to take some time, it just frustrates me. I lost 80 pounds before (on Jenny Craig) and that took me about a year and a 1/2. Now I'm just mad that I have to do all over again!!! I need to look at this as a permanent change, not a diet. I'm missing my appointments too. I told them I wouldn't be in until Wednesday (tomorrow) so I haven't been into the center in a week (because I thought I would be camping). I think it's making a big difference in my attitude....
Anyway, on a more positive side, has anyone else noticed how good food tastes when you're not eating anything (and everything) you want? I had a Lead Cuisine pizza for lunch and it was soooo good. I went for a 4 mile walk today and plan on working out 3 more days this week. I'm still only down 8 pounds until I weigh in tomorrow. I've been on plan, so I should be down some...
Sorry if I'm negative today. I hope everyone had a good day on plan and tomorrow is another day~~~ :)

Jenni

Good Morning All, Jenni I saw your reference to "lead" cuisine. I know it was probably a typo but it made me laugh! Deb, you say you'd like to live in Canada. I'll trade any day. It has been the coldest spring I can remember. I'm still wearing the same jacket I wore in November. No kidding!! Sy - hope you had a great weekend in Alex Bay. Diane - I didn't get an Open House letter from LAWL but LAWL has only been here since February. Meltin - Happy Belated Birthday. I weighed in today and I've lost only .2 lbs. since Monday and I've been on program. any suggestions?

HI Ladies:
Maybe the Open house was only in my area, but they are supposed to have samplings from the La Cookbook, supposed to receive some samples and up to 30% off of products during that day, and they have specials for clients wanting to restart and new clients receive 6 weeks free.
I am up .4 from my little mess over the weekend, not to bad I guess, its just I am supposed to be losing weight. Jenni I feel exactly like you do today.
Meltin how did you do a new thread I think this one is getting a little long, it used to easier before.
Has anyone had any success following the Carb Cravers menu, I am feeling a little proteined out.
Diane

TexNurse 06-02-2004 06:40 PM

thank you

I travel a lot so if you don't see me posting for a couple of days sometimes its because I hate driving all day in this heat and when I get home I am just drained. I basically have been combining two programs. LAWL and the Michael Thurmond 6 Week Body Make Over. I saw a previous thread that they deleted because it got so heated about the 6wbmo but I have to say it works and it works so well and has worked for lots and lots of people. Its a whole lot like LAWL, eating 5-6 times a day, but no sugar, no salt, no fat and no dairy and no processed foods. So like you can on LAWL you can't have bread, or milk or cheese and no fat but most of the recipes are the same. There are no bars on the other instead your snack is a fruit and a protein or a carb and a protein. You can still have potatoes, sweet potatoes, rice, oatmeal, etc and the same proteins. They won't let you have whole eggs, just egg whites. Anyway, I take a little from both and make my own plan and it works! I still think it must boil down to calories but I do like the combinations of foods and the no salt is what has really helped me the most. Oh yes, they recommend 100 oz of water a day and that is very difficult to do on days that I am driving! My favorite thing is the turkey meatloaf once I figured out the right combination of spices. When a recipe says to use certain spices 'to taste' that really throws me because I never really used spices before except salt and pepper. I still haven't perfected the turkey sausage yet. My chicken favorite is chicken caccitorie that I make in the crock pot. I put 6-8 boneless chicken breasts and season with basil, oregano, garlic pepper, onion flakes and dump a bunch of mushrooms in and pour some no salt added tomato sauce and maybe slice some real onions in there and cook all day and serve with rice. Its yummy. You could sprinkle some parmesan cheese on top too. Anyway, please don't kick me out for combining plans. :o
