It's so good to know that others have the same questions and problems. All I know is that it takes time to lose - we all want instant gratification and it just isn't going to happen. My biggest problem is staying motivated - so far, so good but I know there might come a day when I'll want to chuck the whole dieting thing and eat like a pig. This is something I really have to work on. Anger AND joy both make me want to eat!
|
Beachlover, I'm with you as far as what makes me eat. I know that I may have one of those days in the future, but so far I have been able to somewhat control it. Haven't gone too far over the edge yet! On this attempt at losing, seems like staying on plan and not seeing a 'downward result' has almost taken me over that edge. I ate a tablespoon or two of 'real' peanutbutter - stopped myself (that alone was a miracle). Decided that I was only going to see another bad 'result' if I continued - put it away have never looked back (so far, so good) .
Plus, I have to admit that having this board has help me be accountable. Thanks everyone! |
Hi All,
Beachlover, welcome! Diane, I lost 2 pounds last night....probably water retention, but I'll take it! The plan is strict, but, that's what I need (I'm on the red plan). I saw it last night and just kind of went into shock. I went to the store and got really pi@@ed off at the prices of the low calorie products. It makes me so mad that it costs so much to eat well. It's way cheaper to eat junk!!! I called my BF and I was like "it's too expensive to eat like this!". He helped me realize that I'll be cutting a lot of stuff out, so it probably won't add that much on to my grocery bill. I then regained my composure :dz:. The LA Lites are delish! I've only tried the lemon, but I loved it. I have a meeting so I'll be back later. Good luck to all today! Jenni |
Wow! So good to see so many posts.
This has been a week for me. Weigh in today was up .4. Not bad considering the large portions I have been eating. At least I know what I need to do. Sy - I will keep you motivated if you do the same for me. It is so hard to see people losing at a faster rate. My first week at LA I only lost 1.6, so it is slow for me too. I think it is bc I had pretty healthy habits and exercised, know it is a matter on portion control. Diane - I have a Fast Tracker from 1 1/2 years ago. I asked for a new one but they were going to charge me $3, decide I could use the old one. Jenni - Haven't tried the lemon are the tart? Beachlover - Welcome, congrats on your new start. I was on the gold plan but they up me to red since I am nursing my 9 month old. Starting to wean, I am worried they are going to take away some food. The red plan is great for me. Gold was a limited. Good luck ladies! Lets have a good week and weekend! |
Frozen Entree's?
Meltin,
The lemon bars are not tart at all, it was rather sweet. I get to try the cookie dough this afternoon (it's only 1:40 p.m. here). I know what you mean about portions. I really had no idea I was eating so much....I had forgotten what normal portion sizes were. I mean 3 triscuts as 1 starch, please. :p Anyway, Does anyone know about frozen entree's? Can I use them? Like Healthy Choice or Lean Cuisine....I can easily see myself running out of time and ideas. Jenni |
Hi All:
Meltin I guess all center are different my center gave me a new fast tracker for free, but then I've been going there for a while. Jenni in the Fast Tracker there is a list of frozen foods, there are all different kinds. Maybe your center does not charge for like meltin's does. They count as a protein and a starch. But on certain ones there is a limited amount of times you can have them per week. Congrats on your loss by the way! Diane |
Hi again. Jenni, in answer to your question re: frozen meals, yes you can eat some and as Diane said they count as 1starch and 1 vegetable. Lean Cuisine - Chicken a l'orange, chicken parmigiana, glazed chicken, chicken sante fe, citrus glazed chicken, creamy chicken alfredo, homestyle beef pot roast w/ whipped potatoes etc. I'm making myself hungry here. You can have these anytime but there are some only to be had once a week. I weigh in tomorrow a.m.
|
Hi everyone... I go to the center tomorrow for my second weigh-in this week. I'm not going to expect much, but I have stayed on plan - so of course you know that I expect to be down. We'll see.
My (bratty) younger sister is down 18 lbs. Just kidding about the bratty part - I'm jealous - but very happy for her. She has her 20th class reunion this summer. She is hoping to wear a LBD. I asked her what she ate to see if there is something that I can change to make my progress better. She does eat the same things just about every day. When she cooks her chicken breast, she boils hers in water. I cook mine in the oven or on the stove. We both eat ground turkey or chicken. Her fruit - she only eats grapefruit. She said that she only eats 'lettuce' with FF 1000 Island dressing for her veggies. She does a 1/2 baked potato with real butter a couple times a week. We are both on the Gold plan. (Meltin - your right - some days I'm starving). We can have the Carb Craver items - she does that about once a week. She hasn't eatten much beef, they told her today she should eat it at least once a week. Maybe they feel she is losing to quickly (don't we wish we had that problem!)? Meltin, we WILL keep each other motivated! Others too! We are all going to get this freakin weight off this time. No excuses! If it's slow - well take it! If we get disappointed or off track - just come to the board. We will support each other. Vent, rant and rave - get it out of our systems and move on. We will control our food and not let food control us. Meltin - Charleston is very popular this spring. There is another article on Charleston, SC in the recent issue of Women's World. They didn't mention that people should stop at the center of town market? Does that still exist? They did mention the sweet grass baskets - very expensive and very beautiful (this is my opinion). Diane - you will do it this time! How can you fail with all of us routing you on? Just keep reading and posting - we are here to help each other! This is a tough battle. It's the only bad habit that you can't stop doing - you know what I mean. If you smoke - you don't need smoking to live. If you drink too much, you don't need alcohol to live. But you do need food, that's why it's so hard! Have a great evening... |
Sy:
I could not handle boiled chicken, does not sound to appetitizing. Could you do what she does? I know when I first started I used to eat the same thing all of the time and lost really well but I got so bored and ended up cheating all of the time and its been very hard getting back on track. Do what works for you and what you feel satisfyed with. thanks for the motivation Diane |
Syracuse,
I agree with Diane...do what works for you, not your sister. I too would not be able to handle eating the same things all of the time. Beachlover, Thanks for the additional info on Lean Cuisines. I love them. I bought 2 of the "low carb" meals this week (turkey and green beans and chicken and broccoli). I didn't want to push it with the starches yet, but, I'm finding myself adding a starch anyway (I'm on the red plan). I've always eaten Lean Cuisines, even when I'm not dieting. Diane, Thanks for the info on the Frozen meals. I hope you have a great day on program. 1 day at a time! You too Meltin. I have my third visit tonight where I think they introduce the LA Lites and all of that stuff. The stuff that costs lots of $$. I can't afford too much, but really want the LA Lites. I probably won't be able to buy them in bulk. I just put out $652 for the program :fr: ! I worked out 3 days this week too....2 days of step aerobics and 1 day of The Firm :strong: . Tomorrow I'm going on an extensive bike ride with a bunch of friends from work. Afterwards we're having a BBQ. I figure I'll bring some fruit and a bar with me for the ride. At the BBQ I'll bring my own chicken (they will all be having Costco hot dogs), I'll have some corn on the cob (plain) and some fruit. No drinking :stress: !! Happy Friday Everyone!!!!! Jenni |
Hi Jenni;
I am a big fan of the Firm, which one did you do? And what Step takpes do you like? They offer you different price ranges for the amount of La lites you buy, the more you buy the cheaper they are. You don't have to buy them all at one time but you can still bulk up on some and save some money not as much if you bought them all at once. Have fun on the bike ride, I've been wanting to go but just not gooten out there. Good luck at weigh in Diane |
Diane,
Yesterday we did Cardio Sculpt. I like that one because it's an all over work out. I work out with a bunch of people at work in our work out room. We used to have an instructor (years ago), but now we just have a TV and VCR. My favorite step tapes are Christi Taylor's Totally Cool Step and Solid Gold Step. The music on her tapes is great! Jenni |
Good afternoon ladies...
I agree with you all. Even when I started, I couldn't eat the same food everyday. I don't think I could eat boiled chicken myself. I try to get in as much variety as possible. Only thing that I stick with is chicken and turkey on most days. Once a week I eat shrimp, but seafood doesn't have the sticking power - I get hungry shortly after. Reason I stay with poultry is because I can eat 5 oz of chicken, or 4oz of turkey. Beef, I can only have 2.5 ozs (after cooked) - I figure - what's the point?
Jenni, hope you get to read this before you go for your 3rd visit. When they try to sell you the LA Lites, they offered me 3 different options. I don't remember exactly, but it was something like $950, $650 and $350. I purchase 1 single box. I just can't afford to dish out that kind of money. Finally they offered me 10 boxes (which is really 5 boxes of 14 bars in a box) for $119.00 - then I used my $10 coupon - so it only cost me $109.00. for 5 weeks. I don't know about the others, but I just can't see purchasing $1000.00 worth of products in advance. The price savings it just NOT worth it to me. I could die tomorrow - and who the heck would I 'will' the remaining boxes of LA Lites to? When I've done a google seach for LA Lites, you can see many entries on eBay that people want to sell their unused boxes. Another reason why I only buy in the smallest quantities. I'll write again later after my visit to the center. Don't think I'm going to see result today - don't have that 'thin' feeling. |
Sy - Haven't had the thin feeling in awhile, but I felt starved then. Taking one day at a time. If you ever come to Charleston, I know a place you can get the sweet grass basket cheap.
Jenni - That is great that your work environment is so supportive. I work two days and stay at home with my 9 month old. He keeps me busy, but I don't feel like I haven't gotten a real workout until I am at the gym. Good luck with weigh in. My weigh in is tomorrow. I will keep you posted. Hello to fav. and Diane |
Hope everyone has a great weekend. It's a long weekend here in Canada and we all know what that means - bbq's, food etc. I've been contemplating exercise and that's as far as I've gone except for walks. Does anyone go to agym or do aerobics regularly?
