meltin have a good weigh in. I agree with you when I feel thinner I am usually starving and just not able to stick to plan.
Jenni I have those workouts totally cool step is one of my favorites, I just don't to a lot of the turns I get dizzy fast. So how did you make out with the lites?

New to LAWL

Hi,

I joined LAWL 2 weeks ago and did great at first but am not doing well at all now. I am on the purple plan and it seems too restricting to me. I cannot eat beef only twice a week. Is there anywhere to find recipes for meals and what they count as? I am having trouble choking down the water too. I have lost 8 pounds but now am not losing anything which is really frustrating. I live in Minnesota and finding good produce is hard. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Just couldn't write...

Welcome Karia - you can read the LAWL & Friends #77 - I've posted some things that I have made on the plan. With any diet if you lose weight the first week with a big total of 8 lbs like you had - you may not see additional weight off that first week. If you are following the plan - you will see a change.

We went to the center on Friday, what a mistake. I was up 1.6 lbs  - I couldn't believe it. I have stayed on plan - if I've eatten anything off program - it was a little more fruit because I was not measuring my fresh pineapple - that is it. I told the center that I truely could not understand. I was told that my exercising is hampering my weight loss. Not that cardio stuff - she said to continue that - but make changes. Don't do the same exercise - try the treadmill one day and the ellipitical another (and I have read about this so she is probably right). She also said to stop the weights - even if I was doing them before I started LA. Another suggestion - she said that I eat the same things daily. Not exactly - but too much chicken and turkey. She told me that she wants to me to eat a 'limited' protein, and on the days that I don't eat the limited - to do a carb carver - I have to mix things up?! I'm going to start that today - sometimes the plan is confusing as to when you can eat what when you have your limited - you would think that I had it down pat by now?

So, yesterday my husband and I went shopping - lots of walking. Go home and find out I have my TOM. That is an additional reason for the weight gain - I'm never sure when the TOM is coming anymore? :?: Use to be every 28 days, but only had it for 2-3 days. Now I'm having it for a week, and I figured it wasn't due until next week. I feel better about the gain - that is natural for most of us to gain a little that week. I can usually tell when TOM is on the way - but didn't have many symptoms this month? I'm going to try the center's suggestions - but not go over board. :dizzy:

Jenni - how did you make out with the LA Lites?

dianem1 05-23-2004 09:28 AM

Sy:
Have been told the same thing about the chicken and turkey, I did not stop using the weights though I did not want to lose the muscle tone that I had, I just lightened the amount of weight I was using.
Karia LAWL also has a cookbook that gives different ideas. Frozen food is fine if you can't find fresh produce.

Diane: I agree with you, I can’t stop the weights all together – but I will try to mix up the cardio a little. I don’t think that is the problem for my gain. It’s not like I just started with my routine. I have been going to the gym since Oct 2003 and started LA in April 2004.

Saturday was a crazy day as far as being OP. My husband is a great cook. He hasn’t been able to make anything that I can eat since I started LA. Sat he decided to make burgundy spaghetti sauce for dinner. So, I kind of went off program. I had pasta and sauce. I measured what I ate – similar to the Carb Carver suggestion. Only difference is that his sauce had meat and sausage in it. When I was eatting my veggie of asparagus – it added some spaghetti sauce on top. It was yummy. Nothing really BAD – just not exactly to plan.

Yesterday – made sure that I weighed and measured everything. I had noticed started I was slacking when it came to measuring my fruits and veggies. Had a great day OP.

Today, I’m having a Carb Carver for lunch (no salt turkey sandwich).

Diane – when the center told you to choose something different than chicken and turkey for your Protein, did you change? If so, what did you do? Did you see a difference?

I’m going to Alexandria Bay for the long Memorial weekend. Is going to be very hard for me! It will be the first time that I will be eating in a restaurant  since starting LA.

meltin 05-24-2004 05:28 PM

Welcome, Karia! I only lost 2 pounds the first week so good for you! I am a slow loser, I know how it can be frustruating.
Sy, great for you not going out to eat so far. We are always out to eat, but Ruby Tuesday has some good low carb options. I heard Applebees in making a WW kind of menu too. This weekend will be tough for me too. DH is throwing me a 30th Birthday Party Friday and on Thursday, we are going to my favorite restuarant. My sister and gf will be in town, so it will be hard.
Diane, I hope you are having a good week.
Melinda

Hi Melinda and Happy 30th Birthday! It's nice you have some plans, and I wish you well! Taking a day off program is not going to kill any of us. We just have to prepare for it and do the best we can. As long as you get right back OP - you should do fine.

I didn't go out for my birthday last month, and the center told me not to make myself feel deprived. I didn't feel deprived - and we will go out for my husband's birthday next month (and celebrate both). It was way to early in the plan for me to chance going out to dinner.

This weekend will be very hard and I'm going to do my best - that is all I can do. The couple we are going with are drinkers so I'm sure we will be at the bars are few times. If I can get away with only have 1 or 2 glasses of wine or a couple beers - I will feel like I did good. I think I may be able to handle the food thing. We will see. This will give me a mini idea of how I may be able to handle things on vacation next month.

Take care everyone! ~Joanne~

Sorry it's been so long

Hi Gals!
Sorry about slacking on the posting over the weekend. I was soooo busy. Yesterday I was off and had a lot to do at home.

Diane ~ If you like Totally Cool Step you should definately try Solid Gold Step. It's a bit harder, but just as fun.

Meltin or ~Melinda~ (I like Melinda better :) ) ~ Happy Birthday!!!! :hat: What day is your actual birthday? Mine is coming up too....June 16. I'll be 34 :o .

~ Syracuse or ~ Joanne ~ (Joanne is way easier to type :p ) ~ I can always expect to be up at TOM. Don't worry...it should definately be down when you're done. ;)

Karia ~ Welcome!!! I've only been on program for 1 week now. My counselor told me to definately tell them if I'm feeling hungry on the program after 2 weeks. Maybe you should say something, or ask for some ideas. You've paid them a boatload of money and basically hired them to help you lose weight. Let them help you make the program work.

All ~ I decided not to buy the LA Lites in bulk. I just don't have that kind of $$. I only bought 1 box, but will be buying another as I do feel they help to keep me on program.
I weighed in on both Friday (lost 2 more pounds) and Monday (lost another 4) for a total of 8 pounds in 6 days! :D
I'm sure I won't see these kind of losses all of the time, but, I'm liken' it!!! :spin:
It help's to keep me motivated when I see good results.

Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!!!!

Oops!
I forgot to answer Beachlover....sorry. :halffull:
I work out a couple of times a week. I try to do 4, but most often do 3. Cardio/weights. My BF keeps me motivated to walk on the weekends, and I ride bikes with my friends. This last Saturday we rode 18 miles...phew!!!
Have a great day!

dianem1 05-25-2004 12:04 PM

Hi Ladies:
Sy I did try to switch from the chicken, I had shrimp and tilapia, but there's only so much fish one can eat and I did not find it as filling.
meltin Happy Birthday. I tried one the salad's at Applees , I did not like the dressing though, but I am not one for fat free dressing.
Jenni I have solid gold step I've just not used it as much as totally cool step. My birthday is exactly a month after yours.
I did not stay on program much over the weekend. I think I might try the carb craver menu for a while, I am just feeling so sick of protein.
Diane

meltin 05-25-2004 12:44 PM

I went to weigh in today and I am up a pound. At least this time I know it is from not working out and overindulging this weekend. It is harder when you know you have followed program.

Jenni - My B-day is on the 27th of May. DH will take me out on Thurs and the party is on Friday. I am going to enjoy myself, but not overdo it.

Beachlover - What beach are you close to? I am so ready for the beach. It is already in the 90's here.

Hello, Karia, Diane, and Joanne, favjeans, Hope I did not forget anyone.
Have a good on program day ladies!

beachlover 05-26-2004 09:43 AM

Hi all, We have a glitch in our main computer (spyware) thanks to my 17 year old daughter (from downloading music) so here I sit in the basement on our antiquated computer. Meltin - I'm not really near any beach but I love the beach. However I have a 37 year old daughter and she and her husband are 2 hours from Wrightsville,N.C. and we go there when we visit. I weighed in yesterday and I'm down 15 lbs. from when I started (April 15th.). I'm fairly happy but I really have to start some sort of exercise program. I talk about it a lot but haven't done anything about it yet LOL.
Have a good day everyone.

LA Lite bar special this week only!

Just have a minute - have to rush. Wanted you all to know that in this area, there is a 'special' on our centers on the LA Lites bars:

Bar special this week!

10 boxes - $ 109.00 (this is 05 boxes)
40 boxes - $ 359.00 (this in 20 boxes)

Will write later from home...

SyracuseNY 05-27-2004 07:25 AM

:hb: - Happy 30th Birthday Meltin!!!

Hope you have a great birthday and enjoy your evening!

Hi ladies: That special on bars is only good until Saturday. My sister and I may go in on the 40 box purchase. That will save us both $ 58.50 – waiting to hear from her.

Down another 2.2 this week. How exciting it that! This week, I didn’t have a numbers goal. My goal was to be sure that I measured everything. Guess it’s working. So, my total at LA so far is 15.4.

Hopefully I don’t ruin it this weekend in Alex Bay. I’m going to bring my LA Lites, fruit and probably the remaining LF Triscut’s. That way, I’ll have some of the things that I need to stay OP. Since we will be eating in restaurants – hope this week’s measuring will give me a good eye on how keep my portion sizes under control. It will be a miracle if I can avoid the baskets of bread and butter. Hopefully – nothing will be homemade or warm when served (first time I wished of something like that!).

How are the newbies doing? Please share and if you have any recipes or other hints that are helping you. We need all the help we can get from each other.

Two weeks from tomorrow (Fri) I will be heading to Myrtle Beach, SC for 10 days. I cannot wait. I hope the weather there is nicer and dryer :sunny: than it has been here. It’s rained so much the past 2 weeks, terrible thunderstorms, etc... I know it could be worst - glad the thunderstorms normally gets less severe as they move West to East. Meltin – I’m not sure if I can talk the girls into driving to Charleston. If I can, I would love the name of the place you know that you can get the ‘sweet grass baskets’ at better prices. Also, you never answered – is that center town market/vendors still there?

Everyone have a great day – and talk to you later… ~ Sy ~

meltin 05-27-2004 09:34 AM

Sy - Thank you for the birthday greeting! I am looking forward to a fun filled day. I had a boiled egg and watermelon for breakfast, so I am hoping to stay on program until dinner. Congrats on the 15 pounds. They still have the market in Charleston where they sell all kinds of things. The Clown Bazzar is the place that sells the basket. It is on Broad St. Do you check in the other centers when you are out of town.

Have a great weekends ladies. I probably won't be on much the next couple of days.
