Yeah...but my hair is LONG, and I would worry about sleeping on one side, and then rolling over onto my other side in the middle of the night...and my face lying in the oil residue left on the towel or pillowcase.

You could try shampooing with castile soap. It cleanses without stripping your hair. And a bottle lasts forever because you need to dilute it a lot.

I have long hair too. When I oil at night, I braid it and then wrap something around the end like an old sock so it doesn't get oil all over my pillow.

Default oiling hair

I have long hair and EXTREMELY sensitive skin (rosacea etc)- everything makes me break out! So to oil my hair I only do the ends, which is where it is most dry and then, like Marms, I loosely braid it. Wrap the braid in an old piece of nylon stocking by putting the length of your hair into the stocking and secure with hair bands on the outside. Sleep with a towel on the pillow for added protection. Not real cute but it does the trick
Also found that applying oil about ten minutes prior to a shower and then letting it "soak" in while the shower steams the room gives a great conditioning treatment. When you wash it out in the shower you don't need extra conditioner and your hair will be soft and shiny. Oiling is not recommended for those with overly fine or thinning hair as it might weigh it down too much. I prefer Jojoba oil to something like Olive oil because it has no smell and is lightweight but effective. The Jojoba rarely makes me break out and I've never had any rash from it. Hope this helps

I've not heard of oiling your hair. I have shoulder length, fine hair that gets oily easily. I use baby powder, or the hair freshener spray sometimes, but I have to wash and condition every day. I use my Chi hair iron about 3 times a week. My hair is still soft, but I want to reduce split ends.
Should I oil my ends? How much to I add, and is once a week enough?
I'm sorry, I didn't mean to steal from the OP. I'd love it if someone can pm with answers, if they don't mind...
Thanks guys!
