Yay Val! I'm glad to see you back! I know we can get back on track. I took the dog for a walk today and did some math in my head....we can easily lost 20lbs by the end of Nov. I know it seems far away, but I think that's a realistic goal---of course unless it just comes flying off once we are POP (please, please,please) and then we can stand to lose much more!

I just read that Dan is fighting fires here in norcal. Are you still up here Dan? I hope that everything is ok-I know it has been crazy up here.

Nicole-in all my happy bithday thoughts I forgot to ask about baby Maria and your DD?? How is everything going? I'm sure you have been updating, but I haven't looked at all the back posts yet.

The bar was a crazy mixed bag. I know I studied extremely hard, but I still really have no idea how I did. It's hard to feel confident bc when you are under timed conditions in a room with 1,000 people, someitimes you do wierd things! But I'm thinking positive and praying that my performance was good enough to pass!

Ok-off to get a little pampering in today! It's been really nice to have some time off. Hope you all are having a great week!

Hey all...

Amy, I was up in the Hayfork area, west of Redding.. But I'm back home now.. Had my fill of small town livin' in a tent.. :lol:

Some sad news to report.. Liz and I have decided that the time has finally come that our beloved dog Sam will have to be euthanized... He's a chow/German Shepard who has lived a full 17 years. While he still has some spirit left in him, we're afraid that his health has deteriorated to the point where his pain is too great. His back legs are weak to the point that he has a really hard time getting up and he's had an on and off viral infection that we just can't seem to kick. As a result of both, he's been making messes in the house.

This is an extremely hard decision, as Liz has had Sam longer than she's had me, raising him from just a pup.. She's devestated as you can well imagine and our kids are too... As much as we hate to admit it, life has just gotten too hard on him in recent weeks and it's pure selfishness for us to make him suffer while we avoid what we know we need to do.

To make it even harder, we've had to put off the vet appointment until tomorrow to do it at a time when we'll both be able to attend. No way I could let Liz do this on her own. Having to wait to do this is only making the inevitable harder to face.

Please keep Sammy in your thoughts..

Wow - so many new/old faces are here today. The planets must be all lined up and the stars must be shining extra bright for that to happen.

Not much new on my end of things. I have a cold and just don't feel like eating. Or should I say I don't feel like eating the things I should be and am craving all the things I shouldn't. Oh well. I'll get through it.

I'm off the rest of the week. I'm getting the 2 oldest grandsons for a few days and they have informed me they have plans. Not sure what that means. Maybe it's best that I'm in the dark at this point.

Anyway, good to see everyone back. Makes it seem like old times. Better get busy here at work. I'll check in later in the week.

Dan- So sorry to hear about your dog. I know how hard that can be. There is a great children's book called Dog Heaven that might help your family. Let Liz know that we will be thinking about you all.

Oh, Dan......I am so sorry..........I got real nervous when I first started reading your post that there was something wrong with Liz or the human kids. Not that I am glad it is your pet...but I am glad you are all ok. Please give Liz a hug from me. I will be thinking of you all tomorrow.

Ahh the Brett question.. I'm waiting for Nicole to pipe in.. everyone knows I love Brett like Nicole loves cake! But I've always hated when someone has an emotional retirement and then comes back.. but I've always liked him for his integrity so I have to believe he maybe did feel pressured to go? Either way I think it's sad for the younger quarterback to have all this turmoil too when he was just starting his career.. I'll just be happy if I can see Brett play again but will still remain a cheesehead at heart.. hmm cheese.. is that on plan?
Great to see all of you again and to all the newcomers bear with us.. we have an odd sense of humour but we have needed it to lose the weight.
