I know what you are saying about the shorts... I tried on several pair this weekend while cleaning the clothes that don't fit anymore out of my closet... I haven't worn shorts for the past 3 summers, but was able to find 2 pairs that will be acceptable now... I have about 10 more pairs that I would like to fit into by summer time!
