Thumbs down Venting...had to tell COD how it is...

Well I went in for my first WI after my first TO today. And I was down a whopping 4 lbs! Since Monday! I truly think that the main reason I plateaued was not enough water and it being the week before that time. I was shocked and amazed!! GO ME!!

So I sit down (with the counsellor I don't like-we only have 2 at my COD) expecting to hear that I had done a great job with the TO and that my diary was looking good (as usual). Instead I get, "You don't take good enough notes...How am I supposed to help you if you don't take notes? I have to ask too many questions." The only question she had asked me so far was if I was getting all of my water in because I fail to mark it on most days.

Then she proceeds to look at my meals and tells me that I'm not eating enough for breakfast. I generally eat something like a rice cake with peanut butter (1/2 protein worth), some type of fruit, and MAYBE a yogurt. So in exchanges that counts as 1/2 P, 1S, 1F, and a 1D on occasion. And for someone who never ate breakfast before this diet, that's really good for me. She continues to tell me that it's not enough. I need to eat more! I can't imagine how to fit more into that meal! She suggests that I do a Slimdown. So I told her to give me the money to buy them. She didn't like that too much. When I told her that meant I would be having a full protein for breakfast and I won't do that she told me not to get so defensive. I also mentioned that I have been consistantly down at a better than average pace and am happy with how things are going.

Then she questioned me about the kind of ice cream I was having on occasion. I told her and she said, "That's in there?" Yeah, that's in there. I wanted to ask her if she's even read the plan books.

Oh, at the very beginning of the session, I asked her if it was time for me to move from Red 1 to just plain old Red. I'm at 286.6 and am scheduled to go to Red at 286. She was really cool with it at the beginning but by the end of the conversation her tone had completely changed. "Well, you still have that half pound to loose before you can go down to Red." Fine I told her. I won't start it until I loose that teeny tiny half pound. Be back Friday. And I left.

UGGG! What is it about some of the counsellors? That wasn't even half of what I told her. I read her the riot act! Needless to say I will wait for the guy that I like from here on out.

Sorry, I just needed to vent. Have any of you had such bad experiences?

Definitely. There's one girl at my COD that I absolutely can't stand. I swear, she's hated me from the start, and I have no idea why. Thankfully, she isn't particularly mean to me, but I would definitely sum her up with the words "cold" and "indifferent." She just couldn't care less about my progress. When I get her, it's a quick weigh in, she pretends to glance at my diary and sends me on my way. Better than a cruel inquisition, I suppose, but she's still completely and utterly useless. And of course, I've been lucky enough to end up with her at all of the important WI's, like when I switched to stabilization, and today for example, after a brutally difficult weekend, needing a lot more support and advice than she's willing to give me.

That having been said, congrats on your amazing TO results! It really says a lot about your character that you're having so much success in spite of difficult counselors! Keep up the great work, and don't let jerks like her get you down

Great job on the 4 pounds!

Good grief! I can't imagine havnig to deal with someone like that. Everyone so far that I've had has been incredibly supportive and kind. I'm sorry you had to deal with that. Maybe you can complain to your program director? That counsellor sounds like she needs an attitudinal adjustment.

We all forked over a lot of $ to do this program, and there is no excuse for a counselor to behave that way. I would definitely avoid her at all costs, but maybe it is time to consider talking to her boss. If she is treating you badly, chance are she is treating other clients badly as well. Sorry you had to go through that, but great job standing up for yourself!

What a witch! I'm proud of you for standing your ground! I agree that maybe it's time someone heard about her behavior. That's ridiculous! I hate when someone is given a little power and they use it to treat others like children! You're an adult - and one who has paid a lot of money for this program. You deserve to be treated with respect. And since your payment helps pay her salary, you also deserve to be treated with some gratitude! I think they forget that.

Great job on the 4 lb loss !!

I think she was way out of line. You're an adult, you're paying big $$ for their program - I do think a little bit of a hard time when we actually screw up or blow it is part of what we're paying for - but to go off on you like that - well, I'd talk to the owner.

Ya the one lady who I had seen at EVERY visit for 3 weeks bugged me. I guess I could see through her is all. She asked how I was with bars? I would say fine and she asked 3-4 more times and finally I said, "NO I don't need any". She has made snide remarks here and there and throw them right back at her. the remarks are only to sell me things though.

recently I have had the manager of COD work with me the last few times totally diffrent feeling. Really nice jokes with you a bit, and does NOT push product down my throat.I guess I am more likely to buy when I feel your not forcing me to and I really need what I am getting.

the counslor I spoke of I have not seen her there past few times so maybe she is on vacation or she quit one can only hope!

Good job on your lose! I think once you said what you did to her , she got the point. Good for you not taking it !!

Sounds like she needs to go back and read the menu plan so she knows what she is talking about.
As far as breakfast, I don't think it matters what you really eat when as long as you get it all in. I was told that if I had my starch to try and get it in with a protein I think so my body does not associate it with sugar and store it - Well something along those lines anyhow. kinda sounded like I should not basiclly eat my starch alone is all.

Thanks for this guys! After getting so mad yesterday, I really needed the little ego boost you all are giving! I mean, really, lady! It's been barely 11 weeks and I'm almost at 30 pounds!!

congrats on losing 4lbs - that's awesome!

i guess every center has a B-COD! i just started LAWL a week ago (no weight loss what-so-ever) and already experienced a COD that couldn't care less. all she kept saying was "yeah, that's great" even after i asked her 3 times to help me plan a particular day where i was going to a bachelorette party. i finally said, perhaps i shouldn't eat all day and just save my exchanges for the evening. her response - yeah, that's great! i know better and i'm not the COD.

on top of that she didn't have any bars to give me when the manager had clearly noted on my file that she had put them aside for me. i had to borrow a box of bars from my bff who is now in maintenance on the plan.

the next time i went in i talked to the manager (she's WONDERFUL!) and she was appalled! she took care of the situation. i highly recommend talking to the center's manager about the way you were treated. like it has been stated we paid way too much $$$$ to be treated poorly and disrespectfully. afterall, we can find the diet for free on-line so the $$$ we've spent is to receive coaching, guidance and support to ensure our success. <off soap box now >

When I was going to a COD there were only two gals I really got help from and enjoyed talking to. I dreaded it when I got one of the "bad" counselors. Eventually, someone told me that when I signed in I should put down next to my name the counselor I wanted to talk to, which I did, and that worked most of time. Every so often the "bad" counselors were so bad they didn't pay attention to what I had written down on the sign in sheet. That's how bad they were! Anyway, I guess this only works if you sign in and have multiple counselors on hand, which I did.

First and foremost, congratulations on your weight loss!!!! Joni's advice works like charm. If you don't have a choice just tell them you are only in for a quick weigh in and don't have time to meet. They will record your weight loss and you are out the door!

Great job on the 4 pounds. FYI - I don't stay and chat - I have only done that once or twice (except for those initial days) I have been losing and if I haven't I know exactly why - cheating ) I go in, sign my name on the sheet, do my weigh in, get my box of LA Lites and leave. I do usually have my two little ones with me so it gives me a great reason to get in and out, but they know me by now and they usually ask "Gotta run today?", to which I say - "Yep!"
Sorry she was so mean to you - that is not cool at all!!!

Congrats on the great loss!

I guess every center has one. My evil counselor actually jumped my case for eating brussel sprouts too much over a weekend (when I had dropped two pounds....over a weekend). She told me I needed variety in my vegetable choices or I would stall my weight loss. No mention of my phenomenal non-self-destructive weekend. I called the director immediately and have been promised that I will never have to talk to that particular irrational human again. It's a little awkward when she's there and I wait patiently for someone else to talk to me.

It does make me wonder what their training program is like.

Oh yea about those La slimdowns they are the exact same as slim fast OPTIMA snack bars and drinks but cheaper! The slim fast optima meal drinks even have less calories!
