Talking Newbie...

Hi my name is Wendy. I just started LAWL on Monday. I had to do the two day fast, which is what i call it since i didn't get to have any starches, fats, you know my normal meals (the LA xpress). I thought I was going to die yesterday... If i even looked at another piece of chicken i was going to be sick! So I went to bed at 7:00pm so I didn't have to think about what I was missing.

I don't know what to say, I've been at my current weight 245 (when they scaled me on Saturday) since 2002, after my first daughter. After my second daughter I went to WW and lost around 50# but now I've gained it all back. Today is my first day on the red plan and yes I will admit that I'm scared. I'm afraid of failing after all the money that I just spent, I'm scared of not having enough money to get the lite bars and ruining my chances of getting my rebate. All these things are going through my mind. Will I be hungry? What if I don't lose? I don't understand why I'm scared. I've done WW and nutrisystem before, this isn't that much different. So far I'm doing good... starting to get hungry but that is because it is lunch time. I couldn't believe how good the bars are. Do I have to buy them? Is there something comperable? Will I get my money back if I don't buy them and I hit maint?

Sorry for my rambling... it will be great to get to know each and every one of you.

Unless you have a medical reason for not doing the lites I don't think you will get your rebate. Someone else may know for sure. Remember--the cost of the lites will far exceed your rebate--it's really not a lot in the long run (the rebate). Luna's and Kashi Go Lean Crunchy are pretty comparable. I used the lites forever but now like the Luna's (addicted to the Chocolate Peppermint Crunch!) You CAN DO THIS!!! There are so many success stories-- from every starting weight--on or off lites-- on this board--you are sure to find the help, support, and motivation you need. Check us out on the Friends and Losers thread--that's where all the action is. Ask all the questions and voice all the fears--we've all been there but just know that this is a great plan and if you follow it--you will lose. Good Luck and Welcome.

Ahhhhh, we have three Wendy's now!!! Welcome Wendy!!!! You are going to LOVE this program. You do not HAVE to use anything they try to sell to you. You certainly can. Many of LAWL products are fabulous tools that can help you reach your goal......but there is no magic in them. If you click on the newbies thread, you will see many substitutions for LAWL products. I do the all food plan, no supplements. There are many people on this forum who do the program like I do.......and there are many people who use bars, but not LA lites......and there are many people who use the lites...........and there are those who use supplements....and the thing they all have in common is..................they are making the LAWL program work for them. We are all different and have different needs and preferences!!!! You have chosen to make a lifestyle change for your health, and you will be learning how to eat right AND be accountable for your successes/failures. You have the BEST tool right here in front of you, as far as I am concerned.........this WONDERFUL group of fellow LAWLers. We are here for support, encouragment, laughs, tears.......you name it......we will talk about it. Please, fire away as many questions as you can think of.......we all were newbies once.....and we all had a ton of questions!!! Best of luck to you, Wendy......and don't be scared.......get excited........today is the first day of the rest of your healthier life

Welcome Wendy!

I agree with the above, if you are worried about losing your rebate because you can't spend the $$ on the lites, don't stress. While I use the lites, the amount of money I have spent on them FAR exceeds any refund I may get in the end. FAR! (did I say far exceeds?) I like the lites, but knowing what I know now, not sure I would have bought them bulk like I did.

Anyway, whatever you decide, congratulations on taking this first step. The plan works, and while it may be confusing in the beginning, it is very easy to follow and make a lifestyle of.

Welcome Wendy!!! I personally use the lites, because they curb my craving for sweets, but many girls here do not use them and the are doing great!!! I was told also that to get your refund, you would need to buy the lites. But as people have already mentioned, you will pay way more for your lites, than the amount of the refund. I say use the lites if you think you need them, if not, don't.

I also an an advocate for the bars -- they totally cure my chocoholic tendencies, but you could certainly get by without them. I've seen folk selling them on ebay too - still not cheap, but less than buying them a box at a time.

I rarely run into someone with the same name -- and yes, now there are 3 here!

Welcome Wendy! I bumped up a "thoughts on the program" thread for you, and anyone else who just started. It's great that you found this board at the beginning, because you can get a lot of support and feel better about your decision to choose LAWL as a way to change your lifestyle.
