Red face Want to Get in Shape

Hello everyone,

I don't only want to lose weight but i'm determined to get in shape as i am so NOT fit!

I really don't excercise at all but since starting the diet (today's my 9th day) i've been using the elliptical trainer for 15 mins a day. I know thats nothing, as my mum keeps telling me (gym bunny that she is!) but its still hard for me.. i'm aiming to increase my excercise gradually but i want to build muscle, especially my biceps and abdomen.. so i want to start on weights soon..

I wanted any advice anyone can give me on what kind of weights i should start off with (i'm excercising at home, so something i can buy).. i'm sure i'll find workouts on the internet but i don't know what kind of weights i should get. I'd appreciate any info on the subject.

Hope you're all doin just fine!

Cheers,
Emma

I can't help you on this subject, Maybe Anita can and some of the others. Where is Dani she could help....

You sound really motivated and that is great. I am sure you will get the answers from some of these wonderful women.

Keep up the good work, Phyllis

Emma, how much do you want to spend? That will drive the type of weights you get. They have sets that you can adjust to different pounds.

You are going to want to start out small with 5 lbs weights and then move up gradually to 8s and 10s and 12s. Don't try to do too much at once.

For your cardio on the elliptical, add one minute a day. If you did 15 minutes today, plan to do 16 tomorrow. Each day add one until you get up to 45 or 60. Then you can start increasing the resistance and mixing up the programs.
