Donald got home around 6 pm. He's sleeping now - I think he's exhausted. We found a woman who specializes in different types of edema who will follow up with him.
Main thing the cardiologist wants is for him to cut sodium down to around 2,000/day and to cut liquids down to around 40 oz/day. She thinks his heart just can't handle all the liquid/salt.
I am VERY HAPPY to have him home. We can get back to normal (as normal as our lives get) again. I can get back to eating sanely again. As everyone knows, hospital food for non-patients must be about the most unhealthy food there is.
Glad things are "normalizing"! You may want to check with a nutritionist, but we starting using dill in place of salt in a lot of our seasonings to cut sodium without compromising flavor. I will use it alone to season soups and chicken breasts. Hope that helps alleviate the bland!
I have to try that stuff... I have never been overly concerned about sodium since I have BP at the very low end of normal. But - I would like the variety in flavor I think...
