  • Quote: Hi everyone,

I am still hovering at about the same place too. GRRRRRR. I have to admit that I have been doing well all day but then at night after I put the kids to bed I have a snack and the snack turns out to be a binge. That is not good!! I have been thinking about this and I think I need to go to bed right away so I don't do this type of snacking. It totally jeopordizes my weight loss! So, I made a goal for myself to get to bed earlier so that I don't do this mindless eating late at night! Plus, the sleep will be good for me! I hope I can do it. It will cut into my online time. LOL!
I have the same problem. I always eat 12 M&Ms as a treat at night. I have been eating it about 20 mins. after dinner. I know this sounds crazy, but once I eat that treat I make sure that my kitchen is cleaned and ready for tomorrow. I dont' go back in my kitchen after that treat. I shut the kitchen down and nobody is allowed back in. Trust me, it is very tempting to eat the whole bag of M&Ms, but I know better.
  • That was one of my first behavioral changes I had to teach myself - no eating after 7 or 8 pm. First of all, your body doesn't get a chance to burn it off. Second, it is so easy to eat mindlessly in front of the TV at night. After about a week, I really did become adjusted to it. Now I would say I have an evening snack about once a month or so (you know, when TOM is about to visit?! ) But overall, once I've finished dinner, I am done eating for the night.

Keep at it Anita, it will become a habit, I promise!

  • Ok I'm a little confused. I subscribe to the online JC program and they have a meall plan provided. The night time snack is scheduled 3 hours after dinner but that is close to when I go to bed sometimes. Am I suppose to skip that snck/treat? Will it hurt if I just have my "treat" sooner than the 3 hours. That is when I go on my walk as well... I eat dinner, get my son to bed, go on my walk, then I usually have my snack when I get back, then shower and bed for me.
    What should I do ?
It is easier for me to avoid eating bacause I live with my parents and the fridge I keep my food in is in the garage. Its a little difficult to splurge when I have to run upstairs for ustensills and back downstairs for the splurdges ( icecream). I keep light cool whip in the freezer, it's not too taisty but its a low cal. fix for my sweet tooth.
  • I think you can have your treat right after dinner. That is what I do. I usually go to bed around 10:00, so as long as I am done eating by 7:00 then I am fine. The treat is only 50 cals., so I don't think it will hurt to eat it close to bed time. I would rather have it after dinner just to be safe.
  • I almost always skip the treat, but I saw several posts on the JC site from people including Melodie who had lost 142 lbs last time I checked that said you can have it right after dinner or you can have it any time between dinner and when you go to bed. She said it didn't count in the don't eat 3 hours before bed deal.

Ah cookies and chicken pot pie -- I vaguely remember those. It's a good thing I'm allergic to cookies now though because there were 2 dozen left at our house on Monday from our Broncos football party on Saturday and I would have eaten them all. I was home alone for the holiday and kind of bored. It's definitely easier when you can't eat that stuff.

It's freezing cold in Denver and snowing. Driving home, the freeway was going 40 MPH. And yesterday was 65 and sunny - go figure! Oh well, that's Colorado weather for you!
  • Well - I started to not have my treat because it was right before bed and I was having vivid dreams. So far it has helped (I was eating one Hershey Kiss - so I am pretty sure it was all psychosomatic, LOL) Anyway - I figure it won't kill me not to have it. So far I don't miss it. I have some tea and go to bed.
