Default Read any good books lately?

I need to read something other than diet books- I read about seven looking for the one that would work for me.

Any good mysteries? Anyone get a good book for Christmas?

DH bought me The Life of Pi for Christmas, and I'm loving it!

I could use a few new mysteries, too. They're so cozy...

Thanks! I'm taking a trip to the bookstore tonight.

Before the holidays, I was reading "foodie" mysteries- have you heard of these? They're mysteries solved by cooks and they include the recipes they make during the course of the story. I'll add the authors and titles this weekend. There was one receipe for hand-dipped chocolates that sounded so involved and tedious I was too tired to have a craving...

Too funny.

I have read some of them... I can't think of any authors off-hand, but I enjoy them.
There's also one series that revolves around coffee... let's see... the author is Cleo Coyle. Those are cozy, too.

Have fun at the bookstore tonight, you lucky girl!

Here are a few good ones I read in the past few months -

Teacher Man (Frank McCourt - Angela's Ashes)
Great book for teachers, not sure others would like it. Best on tape - he reads it and he has a great Irish accent.
The Ambler Warning (Richard Ludlum)
The Price of Loyalty (Paul O'Neill)
The Five People you Meet in Heaven (Mitch Albom)
Kite Runner (Khaled Hosseini) ***************
This last one is a GREAT book. Would love to discuss it with anyone who wants to read it.

Kite Runner is about a young boy in Afganistan & an incident that occurs & affects his life. Again, I preferred the CD for this one because of the accent of the reader.

OK I have to admit it, I just don't have the time and my daughter doens't give me any time to actually sit and enjoy a book! I use to read all the time! The last book I read was "The Night Before Christmas" and we are still reading it every night!

Sorry, I forgot to grab my list- Lisa Scottoline is wonderful! I got addicted to her when I lived in Philadelphia. I'll check out the coffee stories, though. I have a serious coffee habit. I actually selected my house based on its proximity to three coffee shops, a sub shop, a gourmet restaturant and a mystery bookstore Heaven on earth!

Janet,

Since you are so funny...I think you would get a kick out of Janet Evanovich...if you haven't tried one...you are missing out...the first is "One for the Money"...
